QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2011 -> 09:22 PM) We've got a long string without any offdays coming up at the end of this month...giving everyone in the rotation an extra day off would be a smart move. I don't think so. It's early in the season. Nobody should be worn out. The schedule is set up so all 4 main starters can get 33 starts. In a perfect world, Humber gets two or three, and Peavy gets 27 or 28.

Nice job by Humber, but I hope they stick with the plan and skip him until April 19th, when it should be another Wade Davis matchup at the trop.

Agreed. When they get Dunn back, AJ needs to be in the 8th hole. That's who he is at this stage of his career. -

I'd be surprised if they're going to ask Humber for more than 4 innings. I could see Humber for four and Pena for two. If it's a game, then you can go with the usual suspects--Sale, Santos. If it's not a game, then Jeff Gray will get an inning or two. He probably will either way. -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 9, 2011 -> 10:49 AM) I love all the b****ing about this kid. Was he a huge reach? No doubt, but at least he's physically gifted. I have little faith that he'll ever sniff the pros, but our system is so weak we need to give kids like him a chance. It's not b****ing. It's embarrassment. I think a AA leadoff hitter should be a prospect. Not minor league filler, which he is.

4/8/11 - Sox vs. Rays - 7:10 (WCIU)

I'd say it's three strikes and you're out. Thornton's got two strikes. And weren't you happy when the Sox got the two extra runs so he'd have a 3-run cushion to get that first save? Oh well. Get 'em tomorrow. -

Ken Patterson, Wayne Edwards, and Scott Radinsky would like to have a word with you. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 10:47 PM) Santos is the best option to close IMO. Problem with that is Crain is the only other reliable right-hander and there is no reason to carry 3 left-handers in a bullpen that has a right-handed closer. -

Games not over, but damn tonight would have took the pressure off tomorrow's game. 5-2 vs 4-3...big difference. Need a come back here. -

I'd actually like to see Santos close. I think he has the sack for it. Not fully blaming Thornton, but I just don't think closing is his thing. -
Nice start for Marquez. Anthony Carter with 2 innings, 2 k's. I think we'll see him before the year is done. Peavy--72 pitches in 3 2/3.
-
That Pomeranz will be in Cleveland before too long. Maybe he does a Hudson type climb through their system this year.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 02:44 AM) Trevor Cahill and Dallas Braden? Lawl they dont scare me at all Sox will get Braden, Cahill, and Anderson next week. Cahill went 8 innings today. 1 run, no walks, 7 k's. Good matchup with Jackson.

Kenny Williams Jr leading off for Birmingham. I think that's all you need to know about the Sox minor league system.

Sox win 5-3. Beckham hits a 2-run homer in the 7th to break the 3-3 tie. Crain and Thornton get the last 6 outs. -

Can't overlook the Sox were down 3 runs with 2 out and nobody on in the 9th against Soria. That alone makes this a great win.
-
Good win and bad game all in one. The Sox don't face the Royals now for the next 81 games. See ya July 4th, pesky bastards.
-
A three game winning streak before Humber starts Saturday wouldn't suck. Need Buehrle to go deep tomorrow. 7+

Oh, I agree. I hate when people say "at least we won the series". The regular season is 162 individual games. They just happen to be played against the same team 2, 3, or 4 games at a time. On the other hand, if you play 10 games at home, 6-4 or 7-3 doesn't suck. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 03:38 PM) I'm ready to take 'em one at a time this year rather than think what we have to do in a certain series. The past season and a half have driven me batty trying to figure out what we need to do in this series and this roadtrip, etc. One at a time, baby.

Could be a nice brisk wind blowing out tomorrow night. Floyd's gotta keep the ball down. Wednesday should be great day game weather. How about 15 runs in KC, and they come home 4-1?
-
What would be wrong with a split in KC? Nothing. Come home 3-2, and have a 6-4 or 7-3 home stand. That would be great.

Fine. Ozzie's dumb. And the Sox will not be going wire-to-wire, as the Royals just took 3 of 4 from the Angels. -

It doesn't work often, but you have Vizquel and Pierre hitting behind Alexei. I'm just chalking it up to non-execution more than a bad managerial move. But if he decided that he would never call for a bunt unless it's for one run in the 8th or 9th inning, it wouldn't bother me either.
