I'll give Thompson more of a pass. He's 19, and still learning. The key for him is to improve as the season goes on. Mitchell...I'm afraid this another football player bust.

Shouldn't first round college players be better than low-A quality to begin with? I just think he's not good.

I'm going to stick with my mantra--"Winning series only matters in October", but hopefully this is the start of a 16-4 run, or something like that. We need wins, and a lot of them, now.

Nobody should pencil Mitchell into a 2013 or 2014 Sox lineup. He's not good.

I like the 6-man rotation for the rest of the month. They only have this coming Thursday off, and supposedly pitchers do better on 5 days rest, so why not? Buehrle- Sea, Oak, LA, Tor Jackson- LAA, Tex, LA, Tor Danks- LAA, Tex, Tex, Tor Peavy- LAA, Cle, Tex, Bos Humber- Oak, Cle, Tex, Bos Floyd- Oak, LA, Tor, Bos Then they can figure out what they want to do. Chances are the person to take out of the rotation will answer itself by then.

Cardinals want Buehrle? When Peavy comes back you can rule out Humber, Floyd, and Danks coming out of the rotation.

Ethier streak ends at 30.

The Sale thing really bugs me. If everything was going well now--team playing well, Sale pitching ok, and Thornton closing, then I could get behind Sale being in the bullpen. With everything going wrong, Sale really needs to be sent down now and get him 20 starts in the minors this year.

If Sale is truly in the rotation plans for 2012, he should be in the minors now, you know, starting.

I'm not saying start the firesale now, but once it's apparent they won't be getting to .500 or within 6-7 games by the break, then they should make whatever moves they can. I don't even know who they can move. They probably are capable of moving Jackson, Danks, and Floyd. Maybe Buehrle---is that 15 mil thing for 2012 still in effect? Quentin is movable. But they still have these gems on the books after this year: Dunn- 3 yrs/44 mil (not saying it's a bust contract yet) Peavy- 1 yr/21 mil (including the 2013 buyout) Rios- 3 yrs/38 mil AJ making 6 mil in 2012
