Petricka faces Bryce Harper tonight.
-
Perfect summation. It's been a train wreck the last few years.
-
If they have a bad week, they really are looking at the prospect of having to go 2010-hot to get back in it. Cleveland can start losing games any day now, by the way.
-
Can Taj Gibson play left field tomorrow? QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 16, 2011 -> 09:31 PM) Juan Pierre: Too big, too fast, too strong, too good.
-
Hawk needs a rest like Joe West needs a rest.
-
Kevin Garnett. Nah, Kevin Goldstein from one of those prospect sites.
-
Charlotte ppd Mitchell got tossed after striking out in his first AB. I didn't see it, but I'm sure it was a strike. Jose Martinez replaced him, so I guess he's ok after coming out early the other day.
-
Teahen is not going on the DL. Mild oblique strain, and available to pinch hit.
-
Juan is in a different category of bad. Yes, some of the other players are off to bad starts. His defense is bad. His offense is bad. His base stealing is awful, and his base running is worse. AJ probably gets a pass more than anyone, which isn't right. Dunn is coming around. Beckham plays good defense, and is still young. Pierre is expected to get on base, steal bases, and score runs. He's also expected to catch the baseball. He's been an awful player in every facet of the game.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 16, 2011 -> 04:07 PM) I don't get your position on this. The boos are for Juan Pierre if one is booing Juan Pierre. Some of it is, yes. But most of it is for having him in that position where he doesn't belong anymore. Much like Dewayne Wise a couple years ago. He was instantly booed for being the opening day leadoff hitter. Did he deserve it? Probably not, but it was more about Ozzie putting him in that position.
-
I don't boo anyone, and I'm not going to the game. I'm just saying when it happens tonight, and it will, it's more for Ozzie than Pierre himself.
-
It seems like Kenny is just playing chicken with himself. He's just going to see what happens from here to the break. If it works, great. If it doesn't, then he'll be forced to trade his own players. He's afraid or in denial to make any moves--from sending Sale down to develop as a starter, to sending Morel down, to bringing Viciedo up, or letting go a player with diminished skills like Juan Pierre.
-
When Pierre gets booed tonight, it's more for Ozzie than Juan.

While I agree with you that baseball players are far too sensitive, I don't think they'll do that to Beckham again. He's still trying to get it together at the plate, and the last thing he needs is to start playing 3B again. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 16, 2011 -> 07:43 AM) Why not? His hitting can't get any worse than it is now, if you're concerned about the "mental impact" on him changing a position. And if that is the argument of the Sox organization, they should be ashamed of themselves. Treating players like they are all sensitive little puss boys who aren't mentally strong enough to handle any slight adjustment is no way to run a ball club. We have a serious need to get Dayan into our lineup and Pierre OUT. This is clearly the best way while not sacrificing anything on D, IMO
-
There's no chance in hell they move Beckham to 3B. Never going to happen.

The rainouts in Cleveland this weekend push Masterson back to us. Boo. Mon: Lewis vs Jackson Tue: Harrison vs Danks Wed: Masterson vs Peavy Thu: Carmona vs Humber Fri: Lilly vs Floyd Sat: Garland vs Buehrle Sun: Kuroda vs Jackson
-
Jose Martinez came out after 1 AB. Hope he's ok, or maybe the wheels are in motion for him to go to AA, with Viciedo coming up tomorrow?
-
Indians and Mariners got rained out again. 5-game series in August. Incredible the Sox haven't had a rain out this season, and the upcoming homestand looks pretty good weather-wise as well.
-
Viciedo walked for the 10th time this season today. Oh and he has a double and 3 ribs, too. Call up time.
-
This would be a big win. Coming home 6-3 on this trip. Beating the A's when Cahill starts. Could be wet out there today too, so hopefully the rain helps us more than it hurts us. I'll take wins any way we can get them.
-
If they had one off day each week with a 5-man rotation, nobody would be saying anything. Now, if they go past June 2 with a 6-man, I think that would be a mistake. Right now, it's no big deal.
-
Mitchell got 2-run homer to tie it in the 9th. Now hitting .197.
-
Great start for Griffith. 0.1 inning 3 hits 7 runs 3 walks 1 k 1 wp

Well forget about Beltran unless the Mets give cash too, but I still think Reyes should be a target. And if Alexei is part of deal, I'm ok with it if it means I don't have to watch Pierre anymore.
-
I kind of joked about this in a game thread last week, but wouldn't it make some sense to look into a big trade with the Mets to get Jose Reyes? In know it sounds far fetched on the surface to have a message board trade idea, but why not look into a Reyes/Beltran for Alexei/Quentin or prospects trade? Maybe some other pieces in there. Mets would move Reyes, and get some cost certainty with Alexei. Beltran would get off the books, and the Sox would only have them the rest of the year, so there isn't a long term commitment. They just can't afford to have Pierre out there much more, and if they're going for broke this season, they need to do something about it soon.
