Does anyone remember what the 1996 White Sox did? No? Well, they started the season 40-21, and then went 45-56 the rest of the way. I'm hoping that's what going on with the Indians.

People said Dunn is one of those guys that you have to watch his at-bats. No, it's the opposite.

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
You can't evaluate a trade until down the line unless the player acquired goes on to win a championship right when you get him. So if Edwin Jackson went on to win a championship with the Sox last year, you could automatically call it a good trade, and whatever Hudson did in his career would still make the trade worth it. Or even if they win this year with Jackson in the rotation, fine, good trade. However, without actually making the playoffs, the trade hasn't been worth it so far. And as far as Hudson beating the Padres or Twins or whomever, who cares? They're major league teams, and he beat them. Mark Buehrle has made a career on beating bad teams. Nothing against Buehrle, but he's just doing what he's supposed to.

KWJR- I know he's Kenny's kid and everything, but how can they justify leading off this .190 hitter at AA? Give me a break. If anything, shouldn't Kuhn be in that spot to get on base, steal some bags, stuff like that? Whatever.

Yet another White Sox Winner thread!
With the Indians winning three more this weekend, these last two were large wins for the Sox. Depending on what happens from here to the end of interleague play on July 3rd, we could be looking at some crazy division/wildcard races in the second half. Nobody in the league is running away with anything so far...well, except the Indians. Hopefully the Sox have a nice, solid 6-4 or better road trip with no games handed over on a silver platter.

White Sox Winner!
I hate to pick on the one negative today, but I have no idea how a player as established and consistent in his career as Dunn is, can be this bad for this long. Dude, get it going.

Sox to recognize two studs in Dodger series
I find it sad they're still marketing the 2005 team, but that's just me. But hey, whatever gets people to the game.

Indians @ White Sox, 05/19, 7:10, WCIU
The Sox will outplay the Indians by at least 8 games over the next 41. They will catch the Indians by July 3rd. Mark my words.

Is Tyler Kuhn a prospect? Hitting .352. OBP over .400. He plays all over the field. Has some speed. Bats lefty. What am I missing here?

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 18, 2011 -> 12:19 PM) I am with Jason here...where on earth are you coming up with this crazy idea that we need to have an exact record to have a chance? No one here, not even the Indians themselves, knows just how good they are. To have some belief that we need to be 7 games over .500 at the break versus 3 games over .500, or exactly at .500, is just very difficult for me to understand, and I have no clue how it can be justified. The key at this point is to continue to win series'. Continue to play good baseball. Get the bats going. Get Gordon/Dunn/Quentin going. Worry about games back once we reach July or August at least. They don't have to have a certain record or they're out, but it's going to be that much harder in August and September when they're playing all division games. When they have 12 games against the Tigers and 13 games against the Indians after the break, how many games are you expecting the Sox to win? The more they cut the lead between now and the break, the less they have to crush the Indians and Tigers later on. When I broke down the schedule before the season started, I had the Sox at 50-43 at the break. It's not an exact science, but it's probably close to the number they need to be at on July 10th. Oh...and winning series only matters in October. Play good baseball and string as many wins in a row as possible. That's how teams get in the playoffs.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 18, 2011 -> 11:24 AM) How do you get those numbers? Why do we need to be 9 games up at the break? I'm just not buying it. This is a big series though, a sweep by the Tribe would kill our momentum. A split is acceptable and a sweep by us would be great, but in no way does any outcome kill our chances, imo. Still, lets just win!!! 34-14 might be a stretch, but giving the Indians two more wins right now would really force the Sox to go on a big run. I've always said the Sox need to be 50-43 at the break, so I'll stick with that. 32-18 from here to the break.

If they lose both, they aren't done, but it's going to make it that much tougher to come back. Winning both puts the Sox at 20-25, and 8 back, with 13 games left with the Indians. Very doable. Losing both puts them at 18-27, and 12 back. These are huge games. Losing both would pretty much force the Sox to go on 34-14 run leading up to the break. And that's not very likely.
