Chicago @ Chicago, 06/20, 7:10, WCIU (Sox), CSN (Cubs)
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 07:07 PM) Holy heck, a ton of empty seats. Let that be a warning to MLB never to put the Sox and Cubs in the same division. It would eventually kill the game.

Why do I keep writing off the Twins? Why!! 17-37 to 86-76 would still be tough. They aren't going 69-39, are they?

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
By winning percentage, the White Sox have the easiest interleague schedule in the AL. Gotta clean up.

Yep. They get the walk off, feeling good about themselves going into tomorrow. Putz did blow a save though.

Sox versus Twins 12:10 pm Afternoon Delight
By my count the Sox have 42 quality starts in 70 games. That's 60% and on pace for 97 quality starts. That's very good. Good teams win between 75 and 80% of their quality starts. The Sox should have 31-34 wins in those 42 quality starts. The Sox are 25-17 in their 42 qualilty starts. So they should be 6-9 games better than they are with the starting pitching they have.

They really have to go 10-5 the next 15, or they're in a real bad place.

6/14 Sox @ twinkies PPD
QUOTE (MAX @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 08:16 PM) Perhaps they didn't have problems, but don't you think the fans might show up in larger numbers if they knew they would be comfortable? I guess, but from my experience at Miller Park, even when the roof is open, it's still different than a regular open-aired stadium. I don't fault the Twins for not building a stadium with a retractable roof. It's a beautiful downtown park, and they wouldn't be able to create that atmosphere with a roof.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 08:05 PM) Why they built a stadium in Minnesota with no retractable roof is beyond me. You know much that costs? They didn't have any more problems with weather than any other team last year. The Minnesota weather thing is overblown.

6/14 Sox @ twinkies PPD
Both trips back to Minnesota don't have off days around them, so that 6-man might come in handy in August.

QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 07:47 PM) When the Indians lose tonight, they will NEVER see first place again for the reason of the season. GUARANTEED. So you're guaranteeing the Indians won't win tomorrow? Pretty ballsy.

I'd like to know if the Sox have ever made it through the first 68 games without a rainout ever before this season. Is there a stat for that?

Radar looks bad, but hopefully the system will weaken over the next few hours. It would be fitting if the Sox first rain out of the season happened up there.

2011 MLB Catch-All Thread
I gotta say...the DH in the AL, pitchers hit in the NL doesn't bother me. AL fans like the DH. NL fans like pitchers hitting. It wouldn't bother me if they kept it the way it is, but if they're going to make it the same, they have to add the DH in the NL. There's no way the player's association is giving that up.

2011 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 10:56 AM) If they did go to 15 teams in each league, what do they do about the odd number scheduling? Do you have an interleague matchup every week? Or does one team get a series off at a time? There would be either one or three interleague series going all season. If each team is playing 18 interleague games, that's 90 total interleague series spread out over 25 or 26 weeks...I'm hoping they shorten the regular season by a week and play some scheduled doubleheaders, or just play less games. So assuming they want interleague series mainly on weekends, they could have 20 weekends with 3 series each, and the other 30 series would be one at a time on weekday series and the rest of the weekends. I'd actually like to see them go down to 12 interleague games, which would mean 60 total interleague series spread out. Not that bad.

Official 2011 MLB Draft - Day 3
#1-- I don't believe that. #2-- Couldn't they still sign him as a free agent if everyone passed on him?
