  1. Wheels up two weeks from now
  2. They seem to keep 60 players around a lot longer than they used to. Maybe they’re waiting for the off day on Thursday. Rain in Phoenix Tuesday through Friday.
  3. Two wins 10-6-1 this spring
  4. Spring training, but I’ll still laugh at Manny Machado’s .050 batting average
  5. Verducci breaking down his late season inability to catch up to a fastball was a little concerning. That was coming off an injury, but still. Not getting any younger.
  6. Nice work from Lopez vs SD
  7. Kopech pitching Tuesday, and of course it may rain. Tuesday-Thursday looks wet in Phoenix.
  8. Easy power by Collins. Oppo shot. Cuthbert took Paddack deep in the other game.
  9. Barring weather problems, they’re going to use a 5th starter in the 5th game on March 31st. They still say Gio Gonzalez will be ready. Anderson, Moncada, Abreu, Grandal, Jimenez, Encarnacion, Robert, Mazara, Garcia Mendick, Engel, McCann, Mercedes Giolito, Keuchel, Lopez, Cease, Gonzalez Fulmer, Fry, Cordero, Marshall, Herrera, Bummer, Cishek, Colome
  10. .500 or better, but that probably would fall under the category of “competitive” too. Should be a fun season. The first in a long time.
  11. Alfonso Marquez is the home plate umpire according to the box score.
  12. Giolito went to the bullpen after his one inning. I’m sure they want him to be able to go 90+ pitches in 20 days.
  13. In my opinion, our winning years will have Tim Anderson batting 7th or lower. Do whatever to start the season, but nothing really matters lineup-wise right now.

If you go by the roster pages, they have 9 infielders and 13 outfielders, but they have Leury and Cuthbert listed as outfielders, so they may want to change that. They’ll probably have a big cut down by Monday’s game after the Sunday split squad.
  15. 20 days until opening day. The math works for Giolito. Hope that’s enough time so he can go 6 innings then.
  16. Success this year would be over .500. I’m not saying they can’t win 90+ if a lot goes right- because it could happen. But the pitching is on the young side, and they still need to go out there and get the outs. Overall, 2021-2025 needs to be making the postseason at least 3 times with at least one ALCS appearance. After that, the baseball gods need to be on our side.
  17. Laz Rivera pinch ran
  18. Avoiding them this year. I’m reclaiming my Sox game watching joy.
  19. Got to like how the championship window is shaping up.
  20. 21 days until real baseball
  21. Vaughn is the real deal. Dude knows the zone and will mash.
  22. On WGN radio MLB Network at 1am
  23. That’s not a split squad. It’s a B game playing later this morning. Sox have a split squad on Sunday. They’ll probably have a bunch of roster cuts Sunday night or Monday morning.
