  1. It better be a special trade for him to be moved. I'd rather he be in Charlotte at the start of the season while the team takes a step back in setting up for 2017. All of these band aid moves are more than likely going to be for incremental improvements that still won't get them to 88+ wins.
  2. I like that question about a Draft Lottery. I'm all for it, with built in rules that would prevent teams from getting a 1/1 in consecutive years, or even a top 3 in consecutive years. Also I would like it so meaningless games the final weekend wouldn't impact draft order...especially when protected picks are on the line.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 5, 2015 -> 12:46 PM) Genuinely amazed anyone would want him let alone for this money. He got more after that season than was on the table beforehand. Good luck with this deal SF. I guess you've done that before with Zito. For them, gambling on his durability, relative lack of miles on his arm, and some good years in 2013 and 2014, is worth it. They'll probably get 1000 innings and three good years...and that's enough for a team like the Giants.
  4. Cooper on in a couple minutes. Avila was on at the start of the show, but I was half listening with the Samardzija news. Podcast for later... http://www.wlsam.com/white-sox-weekly-radio-podcast/
  5. So does this mean we get the Giants pick at 19, or could it change with other free agents?
  6. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 5, 2015 -> 12:10 PM) That's the past. They sure as hell won't be winning any championships now that he's on the team. Winning championships is one thing...the fans actually have those three championships in the recent past. Plus a cool park. Plus a bunch of homegrown and fun players. They'll survive five years of Samardzija...and probably still do pretty well.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 5, 2015 -> 12:09 PM) LOLOLOLOLOL. I feel bad for Giants fans. 2010 2012 2014
  8. Looks like he's close to signing with the Giants. https://twitter.com/hankschulman/status/673200646326108160 5 yr deal.
  9. I only have one - Lawrie to the Sox makes a lot of sense. There's a need there, and a history of dealing with the A's. It's not usually one-for-one, so I'll pass on the whole guessing game. Should be a fun next 5-6 days.
  10. The roster July 10, 2013: Lineup- De Aza, Ramirez, Rios, Dunn, Keppinger, Gillaspie, Viciedo, Beckham, Flowers Bench- Morel, Tekotte, Phegley, Wells Rotation-Sale, Axelrod, Quintana, Santiago, Danks Bullpen- Lindstrom, Thornton, Troncoso, Purcey, Castro, Jones, Reed DL- Konerko, Floyd, Peavy, Crain I'll give the Sox credit for turning over the roster in a short amount of time, but until they actually convert that to playoff appearances (or A playoff appearance), it really doesn't matter.
  11. Not an exciting move, but at least Flowers is gone.
  12. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 10:04 PM) Not too many Sox podcasts around so I posted it. Like I said, it was ridiculous. I listened but cringed at how mad they were. Is it Aveea or AviLA? Always thought AviLA aVEEla. His dad goes by AHveela. Not the double L sound because it's not a double L.
  13. That guy running the podcast sounds like a spaz. Also he can't pronounce Avila or Faust, so he can buzz off.
  14. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 09:29 PM) https://audioboom.com/boos/3899718-south-si...e-tyler-flowers That's some irrational emotion right there. It's freakin Tyler Flowers, and obviously something else is coming.
  15. QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 06:58 PM) I just don't see Dioner being THAT much better than Flowers. If they dumped Flowers I would imagine there's a bigger offensive acquisition incoming via trade. That's my hope too. Young, good potential...that sort of thing. Sox aren't winning anything in 2016, so set up for 2017-2019 as best they can.
  16. Obviously a huge trade involving Gary Sanchez and Greg Bird is in the works.
  17. Didn't realize Castro was that bad. Yeesh. We'll see what they do. I hope it's a little more exciting than Navarro, but he would do in a season not to expect much in the way of winning.
  18. Jason Castro has been a rumored non-tender guy. Maybe a deal tonight with the Astros?
  19. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 06:07 PM) I would actually love a battery of Avila/Navarro behind the plate The state of catching these days is pretty damn thin, so I guess this could do for a year.
  20. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 05:59 PM) I am so happy that Flowers is gone. Quick question though, when you non tender someone, can you still resign him? I believe he can't come back now until May 1...if that's still the rule...or if I'm not confusing it with something else.
  21. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 05:57 PM) People on here look waaaaaay to into the whole Flowers is his personal catcher thing. Sale will be fine. Honestly, they'll probably bring in a right handed hitting, defensive first catcher for cheap to be his backup. Cheaper than what Flowers would make it should say. No, it's completely fair to wonder what Sale thinks of this move. He's the ace pitcher, and is highly complimentary of Flowers catching ability and pitch calling. He will be fine because it's Chris Sale, but I wouldn't doubt it if Sale was upset by this.
  22. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 05:50 PM) Sale is next. First thing I thought...what does Sale think about all of this. Quite frankly, I think he'll be just fine after spring training.
