  1. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 08:00 AM) If he's lazy, it's absolutly unacceptable. I'm not sure what kind of team you'd like to see us build -- but a CF who has NEVER prooven himself in the majors has ZERO room to be lazy, EVER. There is no excuse or arguement you can counter that on, either...so please, do not bother. If you'd like to build a team of lazy stars...move north. Herb Brooks, the coach of the amazing 1980 USA Olympic Hockey team said it best, "I'm not looking for the best players, I'm lookin' for the right ones." If Brian Anderson is going to be lazy, and not take his job seriously -- no matter how good he CAN be or IS defensivly -- he doesn't belong on this team. 100% agree. I think Ozzie actually want this guy to succed and not handing him the starting job is probably the best thing for him. If BA actually is a lazy primadonna he needs a kick in the ass to realize that he needs to work to get the starting job and I think that is what Ozzie is doing.
  2. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 11:48 AM) Meh. Whiners. If you don't want to read a thread, don't click on it. Wow...that's hard. Damn it is hard. I didn't want to read this, yet here I am and I have no idea how it happened.
  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 11:42 AM) So why the Hell can't he give Brian Anderson the same treatment, and actually use Erstad as the backup OF he should be used as. There could me a million reasons why. There has been rumors that BA has been more concerned with living the high life than with working hard. Maybe this is all true and Ozzie doesn't want to reward that behavior with a starting job. Maybe some of the hard working veterans on the team feel this way too and would be pissed if he was starting. Maybe they feel temoprarily shipping him back to the minors would be the kick in the ass they feel he needs.
  4. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 10:57 AM) They weren't established veterans with years of service, but they were in fact the established starters at their respective positions. They didn't have to win the job. So because Ozzie didn't come to the Sox his first year as a manager, and dump the third basemen the team had been grooming and the shortstop they acquired, is your argument that he likes young players??? I'm not on either side in this "young player" arguement, but this is kind of a stretch. My only arugment is Brian should be the starting CF. I can give a s*** if he is young old or whatever. I don't know Ozzies reasons so I won't pretend to, but if BA is in the minors this season...our D is in trouble. Back up the Bus. I never said Ozzie likes young players. I was just trying to show that some young players have been given a chance under his watch. I really don't believe that Ozzie dislikes BA because he is young. I think he dislikes him because he believes he is lazy and doesn't or didn't want to put in the work to improve. Weather or not BA actually is this way or not I do not know but that is how the situation looks to me.
  5. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 10:28 AM) For all 3 cases, I would LOVE for you to tell me the other options Ozzie had at the time. I am sure some veteran off the scrap heap could have been found. After all Ozzie would surely play any veteran over any young player. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 10:45 AM) Uribe had almost 600ABs for Colorado in 2002, so he wasnt exactly a rookie. That's why I said second full season. He was hardly a Veteran.
  6. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 10:26 AM) Joe and Juan are veterans. Why don't you site Jim Thome as an example while you're at it. Both Crede and Uribe were playing their second full season's in Ozzie's first year as Manager. Hardly Veterans yet both were given chances to play everyday.
  7. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 10:13 AM) Ryan Sweeney has 35 AB's in the majors Garland had 569 major league innings logged when Ozzie got here. He was young, but a veteran. Danks has never logged a major league inning. Logan was up here because are other options sucked. And he didn't last long. If your going to defend Ozzie, fine. But at least use better examples. Bobby Jenks Joe Crede Juan Uribe
  8. Most surprising - Charlie Haegar and his run for the Cy Young Award finnishing with a 24-6 record. Most Dissapointing - A.J. Pierzynski who will suddenly find his inner nice guy and lose his competitive edge. X-Factor - Jay Marriotti

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 31, 2007 -> 12:53 PM) # of games the White Sox lost in 2006 due to Ozuna's outfield defense Both of which are
  13. Does anyone know if it is possible that another team could select Gio in the ruleV draft?
  14. QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 10:55 PM) Thats bulls***. If I was the GM I know I could have gotten Pelfrey, Heilman and Milledge for Garcia. Well you would be a lousy GM then, I would have gotten all that plus Figgins and Santana for Garcia.
  15. QUOTE(ptatc @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 10:34 PM) This is a good point. I wonder if the high price for pitching actually hurt this deal. No one wanted to trade for Freddy knowing he will command at 12-15 mil to resign based on what Lilly recived. Exactlly, Why give up top prospects and then pay 12 mil a year to resign a pitcher when you can spend the money on a free agent and keep the players. I think most GM's would rather risk their cash then their prospects.
  16. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 10:58 PM) Pardon me? Sorry but with all these posts about Pods OBP being to low to lead off added to several other posts in many threads about guys like Figgins, Crawford and Rollins OBP's being to low. I was begining to think we were the only team with out a .400 OBP guy at the top of the order. Hell in 2005 Ichiro's OBP was only .350, it seems like that woudn't have been good enough for many here. I don't mean for any of this to be defending Pods, but until a better option comes around he is what we got.
  17. I can't Believe the Sox will be the only team with someone who can't get on base 40% of the time in the lead off spot. Damn this sucks.
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 10:16 PM) That was only a rumor. In fact, they did maintain draft pick compensation for Free Agent losses in the new CBA, although they decreased the value somewhat. Here is a summary of the changes according to Baseball America. Thanks for the info.
  19. I see a lot of people are talking about draft pick compensation. I thought that with the new CBA there was not going to be any compensation anymore. Can anyone clarify this?
  20. The Blue Jays sign Royce Clayton for 1.5 million. I wonder how the Big Hurt will like that.
  21. I get the feeling that Ozzie isn't thrilled with Bmac so Kenny is looking at Santana to make Bmac expendable. I would have no problem seeing Bmac sent to the D-rays for Crawford but I think TB will be looking for a package that is at least the equivilant of what the Yanks got for Sheffield.
  22. Wow, 16 pages on what I see as a ho-hum trade. I really don't see the Sox any better or worse off after this deal.
  23. Mets A's Tigers Cards Padres Phillies Yanks Twins
  24. The NL will only have one 90 win team this year. Even with the AL domination of inter league play that just seems odd.
  25. supernuke replied to aboz56's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think you have to take the chance that he will rebound and get an extension done. There just isn't enough good starting pitching out there to let him go.
