Hawk is talking very weird... peavy must be really hurt. -
QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 10:23 PM) Wow. I have heard some stupid things before, but that takes the cake. Peavy is crap? it was a joke... take it easy mary.

Just read this.. Crede might retire: According to Phil Rogers of the Chicago Tribune, Twins third baseman Joe Crede might opt to retire after this season. Crede has dealt with back issues for years and was placed on the disabled list Friday night after an epidural failed to relieve his ongoing lower back discomfort. At the young age of 31, it'd be a tragedy to see him go, but he's a free agent in the fall and obviously has the right to end his career on his own terms. Crede is a .254/.304/.444 career hitter. He won a Silver Slugger award in 2006 and was named an All-Star for the first time in 2008. -
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 02:32 PM) I'm sure this will be the exact same team next year. Kenny will re-sign Dye and Pods and continue to rotate in Rios in the OF. He may even re-sign Contreras and plug him in as the utility infielder. We'll still have the same infield as this year. Outfield might be better.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 02:29 PM) Why does it matter where you started the season? Hudson had more success than Poreda ever had and simply has better stuff. I would be surprised if Poreda is ever anything other than a solid reliever or mediocre 5th starter and Richard likely won't ever be anything other than a 4th starter and its not like he has pitched well with San Diego. The defense will make Peavy look bad anyway so it don't matter.

QUOTE (son of a rude @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 02:24 PM) first of all, they werent our 2 top pitching prospects. hudson is a much better prospect than both of them. second of all, you would rather that we didnt trade for peavy? can't say i agree with that. Hudson started the season in A ball, I don't consider that top pitching prospect. Peavy is hurt btw and blocked a trade to the Sox before.

This is a somewhat talented team that makes too many errors, doesn't hit consistently, and the bullpen is bad. But what really kills the team is the dumb mistakes. Throwing to the wrong base, not hitting cut off man, getting picked off, trying to score from 3rd when you can't, getting bad reads on the ball from outfield, bullpen throwing straight fastballs down the middle, always swinging for the fences, starting Contreras 10 too many times, signing Colon, let him go missing then bring back, then let him go missing again, DEWAYNE WISE on the roster, BRETT LILLIBRIDGE on the roster, JIMMY GOBBLE on the roster, trading your 2 top pitching prospects, trading for TONY PENA and his 5.00 ERA thinking he will be better in the AL... Can't forget how some guys feelings get hurt when they are playing bad baseball. This team is getting really, really frustrating to watch.

I quit watching for 10 min.. who made the errors?? I'm still thinking its gonna be 20-1 game. This is turning into 07 without a bunch of injuries. -

Teams with bad pitching, bad defense, and bad hitting don't win games. -

A good hitting team would light Mitre up.. Sox will probably get shutdown. -
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 12:07 PM) Our current problems are the older guys not doing what they used to do - as well as Quentin having an entire year of readjusting post-injury. So it's not on Walker, it's on older guys that used to be able to do it--not being able to do it anymore. And above all, on KW for not taking advantage of the great buyers market with guys like Hudson and Abreu out there....and then going ahead and spending way more on Rios and Peavy (2010 onward that is). I'm fine with the 2 we acquired, but it just highlights how we couldve spent and didnt before the year. I think KW's offseason was as bad as Hendry's and his in season moves have done nothing for this team except screw the chemistry of the team... although we cut payroll our opening day roster sucked. Even though we cut the crap in Betemit, Colon, Wise, Anderson, Fields, Macdougal (now tearing it up in Washington) Lillibridge (til Getz injury) we're under .500 again. We added 10mil plus in salary in Rios (nothing so far), Peavy (hurt), Pena (bad), Kotsay (ok), Pods (great move, def luck), Castro (not much better than Corky), Sweatry Freddy (1 good, 1 bad start).. I don't get why he wanted to give all the young guys a chance then a few months into the season dump them because he thinks we're in a pennant chase (.500 record?)... We've traded away and gave away Poreda, Richard, Allen, Brian Anderson, Lance Broadway and I don't think we would be any worse if these guys were still on the roster getting major league playing time. That goes to show that BIG changes need to be made next year and I think they will. I think this team is gonna go for a world series next year. I think some bold moves will be made this offseason, and I think Dye will be gonna, Jenks will be gone, Pods will be gone, and a move like trading one of Floyd/Alexai/Konerko will be made. I think he will sign a long term RF, lots of bullpen help for cheap, , and keep Kotsay to platoon with Thome at DH and play OF/1B. He will also resign Wise and trade more prospects.
-
Fire the whole team.
-
3rd base coach always f***S up !!! sending Castro, always sends CQ and Dye and they always get thrown out.
-
Why is Linebrink in the bullpen (in a 2 run game).. I don't understand Ozzie's thinking when it comes to this s***.

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 07:45 PM) when the sox had a day off, aug 20th. hes played in over 60 games in a row thats ridiculous for a rookie.. i doubt he's ever came close to playing this many games. no wonder he can't hit now.
-
When's the last time Beckhams had a day off.. he's been hitting like crap lately
-
Swisher is a douche.. glad he's gone.
