QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 02:42 PM) He really doesn't strike out that much though... Not much at all... career average about 70 times a year... he can still hit .300+ 25 HR 100RBI if healthy all year and at DH I think he can. I'd take him over Thome at this time in there careers.

i dont see trading prospects and paying 12 million for one year of dunn...
-
the only way i ever see the sox getting agon is with alexei, hudson, flowers, morel being shipped out; but i don't even see why SD would trade him while he's so cheap the next two years.

QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 01:48 PM) http://twitter.com/SoxNet # With the leadoff spot filled, Kenny has turned his attention to the middle of the order and we are told he's close on another deal. about 2 hours ago from web My guess is Vlad/Thome/Agon/Dunn... Thome or nothing sounds most likely for $$$ reasons.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 12:54 PM) Then why was Pods playing CF after the Rios trade? That should never have occurred and which proves my point that Ozzie will throw guys out of position in the OF. Rios only played 7 games in RF last year, Pods played there when JD was out of lineup I think.. btw Rios made 2 errors in CF with Sox last year, 4 total. I think Pods weak arm/bad reads on ball was why he was in CF

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 12:33 PM) The Mariners are building a team and have reportedly kicked the tires around Jenks. Phillies could do the same. Don't want trade Jenks but if his salary relief it gets us .300 hitter that get 100+ RBIs im all about it.. by sign or trade. With this current lineup I see Quentin (2008 Quentin with 600ABS) the only one that can sniff 100 RBI.
-
I think there will be one more big move for a power bat... even if we have to trade Jenks to save $$$

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 11:13 AM) I just don't see that much different in the 2 and you're getting rid of a fan favorite, meaning casual fans. Thome, Dye, Crede, Garland, Pods, Frank Thomas are recent fan favorites that don't have a place on this team.. and if we had them with there injuries, slumps, declining skills they wouldn't be fan favorites anymore.

I like this move a lot... I like Pods and think he did some great things for this team in his career but last year he was great and aweful. Great with .300+ AVG, game winning hits, stolen bases every now and then. Aweful with the dropped balls in the outfield, throwing to the wrong base, getting picked off (ALOT), not hitting in clutch situations. I think Pierre will be a great leadoff man and will swipe 60+ bases if he plays everyday.. LF/DH Pierre 2B Beckham 1B Konerko RF Quentin C AJ P SS Ramirez CF Rios 3B Teahen DH/LF Jones/Teahen OR Sign Vlad/Thome and slot them in at 5 and have deeper bench. Bench Vizquel, Flowers, Jones, Kotsay, Nix I like it.

Im sick of hearing about this trade already... it dont make much sense for philly but halladay is slightly better than lee... i don't know why they'd trade top prospects to exchange them though..also cliff lee is about 10 million dollars cheaper in 2010..

Ramon Castro to Toronto....

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 04:25 PM) ding ding ding Peavy and Rios were our offseason pickups. I'm gonna have to disagree on that.. we didn't sign any notable free agents in 08/09 for 09 season... we traded away swisher for prospects, lost cabrera, lost crede, had corky miller, betemit, dewayne wise, colon, contreras on opening day roster (crap) in 09... for 2010 we lost thome, dye, pods, dotel, castro, contreras (about 40 million of the top of my head?) we better spend $ or trade for another big bat and leadoff man.
-
Vlad since angels went with matsui...
-
The recent White Sox all free agent team: (This team would be frustrating to watch, too bad it includes some of my favorite players) C- Ramon Castro 1B- Darrin Erstad 2B- Juan Uribe 3B- Joe Crede SS- Orlando Cabrera LF- Scotty Pod CF- Brian Anderson RF- Jermaine Dye DH- Jim Thome Bench- Tadahito Iguchi Rob Mackowiak Jeremy Reed Frank Thomas SP Jon Garland SP Bartolo Colon SP Jose Contreras SP DJ Carrasco SP Toma Ohka RP Lance Broadway RP Neal Cotts RP Scott Schoenweis RP Octavio Dotel SP Mike Macdougal
-
why not sign matt holliday and not trade any prospects.. he will be cheaper than agon in two years anyways.
-
Thome is better and will be signed over Cust, but who knows with KW anymore.
-
Brian Anderson just got non tendered by bosox.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 12, 2009 -> 05:19 PM) He was no where near as good as Thornton. DJ was valuable but lets not get carried away here. Yeah Thorton was better, but this another hole in the team.. I wonder why they didn't sign and trade him if they didn't want to pay...
-
This dont make any sense, he was the best guy out of the pen last year.. another KW move I don't like.. and to be honest I don't think he's made a good move since the Peavy trade.
-
I think the Sox should trade him in May or June, I'm sure they can move him with a low era.. he always starts off the season GREAT and is lights out.. then it seems his arm gets tired/injured.. heres some stats: 09/08: March/April 1.12/2.53 May 2.79/.068 June 2.38/1.00 July 3.68/7.50 August 8.49/DL Sept 9.00/11.05

Read the cubs drafted josh hamilton in the rule 5 a few years ago and traded him to reds right away... i can't believe hendry is still gm.
-
how bout jeff marquez, nunez, lillibridge for him
-
Quite a few recent Sox players free agents now and not much going on this offseason; where u think they'll go... somehow the two worst ones have already been signed.. 2009 Sox Free agents: Jermaine Dye - Braves Octavio Dotel - Dodgers Scott Podsednik - Cubs Ramon Castro - Brewers Dewayne Wise ++Signed++ Wilson Betemit ++Signed++ Recent Sox players now free agents: Juan Uribe - Giants Jon Garland - Dodgers Jose Contreras - Baltimore Jim Thome - Indians Joe Crede - Indians Orlando Cabrera - Twins White Sox Sign: Coco Crisp, Matsui, Putz

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 09:36 PM) I would have liked if the Sox could have made the 3rd year an option somehow, but overall I don't think you can really disagree with this deal, even though I think it's doubtful whether Teahen will live up to it going forward. Getz would of been about 12 million dollars cheaper over three years.
-
if u thaught he was bad last year, wait til greg walker gets a hold of him..
