5/31/16 Game Thread: White Sox @ Mets
YonderLaroche replied to hogan873's topic in 2016 Season in Review
Can't everyone just realize this team sucks? From the top to bottom who needs go first. ventura, kw, sands, albers, avilla, duke, Latos ,Garcia, abreu to dh, shuck. I'm hoping for white flag trade where quintana, Cabrera, Frazier, Robertson, eaton all gone, they deserve better. Theyd bring in. Ton of talent. Maybe even sale and abreu can be traded if Jose can get a hotstreak, cause he is horrible clutch hitter. We might as well bring up knights team, it can't be any worse Sox historically the worst team in baseball since john danks released. Maybe his presence was important , could of been in bullpen for mop up. Shields probably have up 10 runs on purpose not get traded here. Such a disappointment of mental midgets playing like garbage for a stupid manager. -
This team is under 500 with flowers, micah , and Connors defense. Way too many errors and miscues. This team needs a fast lead off man, Gordon at 3b, a defensive catcher, and Sanchez at 2b. They need to manufacture more runs at top of order, having Eaton on 1b or bases empty is killing this team. Cabrera and abreu should have 2x the rbis. If the top of order gets going , you can win a with Beckham's offense over gillaspies. Micah needs more time in minors, flowers will never be able to throw out a base stealer or stop pitches. Conor is a 1b/dh who should platoon with laroche or be a bench bat.

The point in trading quintana is to get rid of dunn and ramirez, and bring in some good prospects or a good hitter. Something has to change, the 3/4 konerko/dunn is done and has never worked and we need a fresh start. The current build of this team is stale, boring, and sucks hitting and fielding wise. I can't imagine how much a tight defense would help the pitchers as well. BTW this is the first season in almost twenty years I didn't goto a sox game. Dump Dunn, bring back Konerko or sign Ibanez only to platoon or pinch hit DH, roll dice and sign Abreu, Peralta, Mccan. The only thing this team has done right since 2005 has been develop young pitching. Everything else has been horrible. Sox need major changes. 2013/2014 1. Alejandro De Aza CF DE AZA 2. Jeff Keppinger 3B 2B BECKHAM 3. Alex Rios RF 1B ABREU 4. Paul Konerko 1B RF GARCIA 5. Adam Dunn DH SS PERALTA 6. Dayan Viciedo LF LF VICIDEO 7. Alexei Ramirez SS DH KONERKO*IBANEZ/MCCAN/PHEGLEY 8. Tyler Flowers C C MCCAN*NAVARRO*AJP/PHEGLEY 9. Gordon Beckham 2B 3B KEPPINGER/GILLESPIE

cf De Aza 2b beckham 1b Abreu rf Garcia ss Peralta lf vicideo dh konerko/phegley/mccan c/dh mccan or navarro or AJ Pierzynski free agent 3b keppinger sp sale sp santiago sp danks sp e johnson sp rienzo rp lindstrom/jones/purcey/petricka/webb/crain closer reed Sign Abreau as free agent #1 priority, Sign Peralta as Free agent #2 (16 less errors than ramirez, .300 batting average), Sign Brian Mccan or Dioneer Navarro for C, Package Dunn/Ramirez/Quintanna and trade for any type prospects. Losing Dunn/Ramirez poor fielding and offense will offset having a replaceable Quintanna. Not sure how bench should shake up but really need platoon at 3b with keppinger and some speed/power as well.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
YonderLaroche replied to macsandz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 06:21 PM) Getting Jackson for what he gave up and letting Jackson go for what he got seals it for me about Williams. He'll never get another GM job. Ok you got 1 year of Edwin Jackson, and 2 pitchers. One has a sub 3.00 era and the other is torontos 4th best prospect. Plus you got rid of Teahen. Now if we could package Dunn/Rios/$$$ and someone productive for prospects I'd be happy. I never liked the way this team was built, stacked full of ex Royals/Nationals/Blue Jays. Winning takes chemistry unless you got $$$ to over spend like Yanks/Phillies/Red Sox on true proven MVP/Cy Young type players. This team is built like the Cubs, and fails like the Cubs. -

QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ May 4, 2011 -> 04:26 PM) No one on this board, no one in the press, no one in baseball thought this team, as constructed, would be this horrible. So how the hell can anyone fault KW for not knowing it was bad? What I see each game is a lack of preparedness, a lack of intensity, a lack of fundamentals, and a lack of confidence. None of these have anything, whatsoever, to do with the GM. This team's been doing the same $hit since 2006 when they choked. 2007 was a disaster, 2008 was garbage til June then they got lucky and into playoffs (Undeserved as much as I enjoyed the blackout game and Twin playoff games, Twins were better that year), 2009, 2010 were CHOKES. This team lacks leadership, drive, and pure talent. They can't beat the Twins because of they get weak and scared by them. If Paul Konerko is team captain and AJ is a problem, why resign these guys. What they did in the past made history, but its time to move on. We got headcases in Konerko, AJ, Rios, Quentin, Ozzie, Walker who go through more mental ups and downs than a pregnant woman. You can now add Beckham, Dunn, Ramirez, Pierre, Thorton, Sale to that list because they're doing the same $hit now.
-
Hmmm Dodgers benched this guy in 2009, we trade 2 pitching prospects for him and have him starting and leading off for us. We then let Scotty Pods go (who sucked at defense, but who could atleast hit and steal bases.) You are the man Kenny Williams. Pods would been at 1/3 the cost and we'd have 2 more pitchers in AAA.
-
Hmm think KW's gotta go. He built this team, and this team is out of it with worst record in baseball over a month into season. * He traded for injured AND reinjured Peavy, added around 15mil per in payroll * Signed Adam Dunn, similar to Thome after letting him go, had worse numbers than Thome in NL and costs around 15 mil per * Let Jenks walk, not a bad move but Will Ohman money could of resigned him * Linebrink signed to stupid contract, and we're still paying Linebrink to pitch on Braves in 2011 * Resigned AJ Perzynski, it was time to move on * Acquired Juan Pierre * Edwin Jackson and his plus salary acquired for Dan Hudson. * TEAHEN * WILL OHMAN We need a hungry team that wants to win, this roster reminds me of a Cubs team and I hate it and they SUCK. This team is a disgrace. Fire Kenny, Ozzie, Walker, Teahen, Pierre. This team needs some bold moves, get younger and get a few MLB ready players and maybe pull in some good prospects for Danks, Buehrle, Jackson. Maybe even Konerko, Quentin, Ramirez, Thorton, considering rest of team is un tradeable or untouchable.

Konerko and Lee are real similar, both have had a share of nagging injuries and good/average seasons, here's there offense the last 5 seasons. KONERKO vs. LEE AVG... HR... RBI... OBP... OPS... 2010-2006... Konerko .312/.277/.240/.255/.313... 39/28/22/31/35 HR... 111/88/62/90/113 RBI... .393/.353/.344/.351/.381 OBP... .977/.842/.743/.841/.932 OPS 2010-2006... Lee.. .260/.306/.291/.317/.286... 19/35/20/22/8 HR... 80/111/90/82/30 RBI... .347/.393/.361/.400/.368... .774/.972/.823/.913/.842 OPS If we sign Lee... coming off bad year, can save around 10 million for bullpen, bench, get them 2 1st round draft pics back If we sign Konerko... coming off career year, spend around 15 million per, might command more 3-4 years, will lose the two draft picks, but will retain team captain.

Damn Im suprised... looks like the sox arent being cheapasses for once and will go all out..
-
Thome had better numbers than Dunn in 2010 (HR Ratio, AVG, OBP). AJP/and or Konerko is now gone, Jenks is gone, expect Floyd/Danks/or Edwin Jackson to be traded. I see Putz as the only free agent we will get, no way Paulie takes less than Dunn and no way Sox can afford another 14/m per year.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 15, 2010 -> 08:31 PM) Yep, but pitching and D was bad. The pen was the only group that showed up. I'm beginning to believe getting guys from the NL will not improve an AL team overnight. They have to make a big adjustment to facing pitchers they're not familiar with. A NL pitcher like Peavy is not use to facing a league where one division will have more hitters than the entire NL. While Jackson blows that theory, Hudson looks really good pitching in the NL. Maybe Kenny should stay away from getting NL players and the Royals. Or trading prospects for expensive contracts. How bout the Sox hit free agency and not overpay in prospects or waiver wires (MANNY, 4 mil for 10 singles) -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 10, 2010 -> 08:43 PM) And we're probably going to lose now. Just a sad performance by Buehrle against a very weak hitting team. 6 hits and 2ER??? SAD is this offense. Morel, STRAIGHT FROM AAA, has our only HR and RBI. (against what would be a BAD AAA team in the Royals) -
non tender Quentin, Jenks, Pena (Around 12 mill saved), dont resign AJ (around 6mil saved), trade Floyd for prospects (around 5 mill saved), Let Kotsay, Jones, go. Resign Putz, Castro, Paulie, Manny (if on the cheapside)sign Crawford, Inge, Kearns, and a proven reliever and a few at league minimum and see does best in Spring Training... my ideal 2011 team: C- Castro 1B- Konerko 2B- Beckham 3B- Vizquel SS- Ramirez RF- Crawford (FA) CF- Rios LF- Pierre DH- Ramirez Bench 1 Kearns (FA) 2 Flowers 3 Viciedo 4 Lillibridge 5 Teahen 1 Peavy 2 Jackson 3 Danks 4 Buehrle 5 Sale/Garcia 1 Linebrink 2 Santos 3 Thorton 4 ?? 5 ?? CL Putz Lineup: LF Pierre RF Beckham CF Rios 1B Konerko LF Crawford DH Ramirez SS Ramirez C Castro 3B Vizquel

QUOTE (Cali @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 09:16 PM) WHy would we have signed Orlando Hudson? We had Beckham and Alexei up the middle already? Beckham can play 3rd.. This team just always seems to have huge whole on it, and it starts with a failed offseason. ALL GAMES COUNT, Not just the last 20 in a tight pennant race. 2010: DH, Kotsay/Jones, 3B - Teahen; out of position, terrible 3B 2009: No leadoff man til we acquired Pods, No backup catcher til Castro was acquired, No 3B til Beckham came up, OF defense sucked ass til Rios was acquired. 2008: No CF, Swisher out of position, bad defensive outfield, no leadoff man, s***ty bullpen centered around overpaid Dotel/Linebrink I don't feel like doing every year, but we didn't have a 5th starter for years to at the begining of the decade.
-
It'd be the Twins chasing the Sox if it weren't Teahen/Kotsay batting fifth with making game changing errors at 1b/3B. This team did AWESOME without Teahen, thanks to Vizquel's glove and he's also hit way above expectations. No playoff teams have anything that resemble Mark Kotsay, Mark Teahen, Scott Linebrink, Bobby Jenks ... That's a combined $17.75 million dollars of 2010 suckage. And to think we could of had Orlando Hudson, Jim Thome for $6.5 MILLION
-
How ironic... sox losing 9-1, twins winning 9-1.. the twins never seem to get blown out (or lose)
-
QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 04:28 PM) We got Bautista? Hell if we had Ted Williams in his prime Ozzie would Kotsay play over him.
-
Ozzie won't bench his mancrush Mark Kotsay for no one, not even the best HR hitter in the game.
