Soxtalk NCAA Tourney Pick 'Em Contest
The Bones replied to SnB's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I'm 7-1 in the early games. -
Which regions is everyone having the most problems with? I know I've got Illinois and UNC coming out of Chicago and Syracuse, but I'm having problems with the Albuquerque and Austin regions, especially Albuquerque. I think I want Cuse out of Austin but I also think they could lose very early to MSU or even Vermont. In Albuquerque no one out of Washington, Wake, Gonzaga, or Louisville really stands out to me. I could honestly see any of them losing in the 2nd round. That is IMO the weakest region by far.

I don't know if anyone else here was at the games today or if they mentioned it on tv but there was a real special moment before the Illinois game. When Bruce Weber came out on the court from the locker room the entire stadium gave him a standing ovation, not just Illinois fans but everyone, and it went on for a decent amount of time. It was a great thing to be a part of.

My dad got lucky and got tickets from a nice lady IU fan at a discount price, at least a discount from what all the scalper's were asking.

Somehow I've managed to make it every year since it began in '98. Probably right up there as the most fun I have at a sporting event, right next to a Cubs vs. Sox game. It's intense.

Came across some tickets to the BTT Semifinals tomorrow, so I'll be at the UC cheering on the Illini and Iowa.

Indiana just giving up now, ugly.

I can't see the Big Ten getting six teams in, although I hope it happens too. The way I see it is if IU wins and Iowa loses they take IU and Minn. If IU loses and Iowa wins they take Iowa and Minn. If IU and Iowa win they take IU and Iowa and leave Minnesota out. And of course if IU and Iowa lose they take Minn and the Big Ten only gets 4. I just can't see them taking 6 Big Ten teams this year.

Plenty of games to watch tomorrow Of course my favorite, other than Illinois' annihilation of NU, will be Indiana vs. Minnesota. I think Minnesota is already in with 20 wins including 10 in conference. Hopefully both teams can make it in to give the Big Ten 5. Iowa vs. Michigan St., Iowa needs a win against MSU and possibly the next day to have a chance at making it in. Virginia Tech vs. Georgia Tech, much like the IU-Minn game with two bubble teams going at it in what should be another intense game. NC State vs. Wake Forest minus Chris Paul, a win would greatly improve the Wolfpack's chances. West Virginia vs. Villanova, if WV isn't already in a win over Villanova would likely put them over the top. Texas Tech vs. Iowa State, another 4-5 matchup w/ Iowa State needing it more to solidify their status. And something to watch in C-USA, if Memphis or South Florida can pull of the upset in the championship on Saturday it would leave 1 less opening for a bubble team.

Some more bubble teams are gonna be sweating it out on Sunday as Miami, A & M, and Georgetown all lost tonight.
-
Other games of interest today... NC State defeats Florida State to keep its hopes alive. Now they face Wake in a rematch of the infamous Paul low blow game last week. Iowa State takes care of business against Baylor and now gets Bob Knight's Red Raiders tomorrow. Iowa beats Purdue in Gene Keady's last game on the bench. Michigan State is their next opponent tomorrow. TCU loses to Louisville hurting their chances of getting in the tournament.

ESPN's Bubble Watch Maryland loses to Clemson, I think their 3rd loss to Clemson will seal their fate. Meanwhile West Virginia beats BC pretty much guaranteeing them a ticket to the dance.

What I find amazing is that a little girl survived but a grown man didn't. She definitely has someone watching over her.

I'm looking forward to new cds from Beck, Ben Folds, and Sleater-Kinney.

I saw Be Cool over the weekend, pretty funny. Vince Vaughn is hilarious as always. If you don't take it too seriously you'll enjoy it. I'm gonna have to see Get Shorty now. 7/10

Okay, I'm looking for suggestions on what hip hop albums I should check out. I am a huge Beastie Boys fan, especially Paul's Boutique & Check Your Head, and already have all their albums. I have Public Enemy's Nation of Millions & Fear of a Black Planet. I also like Outkast's Speakerboxxx/The Love Below & Stankonia. So, as you can tell I am more a fan of hip hop than gangsta rap. Any ideas on what albums I might like, maybe some Run DMC? I was also thinking about getting Kanye's album, is that any good? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Illinois, though if they meet in the tournament I think it would be a very tough game for Illinois. Sean May was a beast down low yesterday.
