  1. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 02:08 PM) I'm just going to say in advance that I know this is going to sound bitter. Emmitt is a very good runningback that had a hell of a run with the Cowboys. But he held on too long due in large part to getting the all-time rushing title and wasn't even the best RB of his generation (Sanders). He gets credit for being one of the best runningbacks ever, but I really can't put him in the same class as Walter, Brown, and Sanders. I think he is going to be the Nolan Ryan or Pete Rose of football, a guy that is mentioned with the very best because he holds a couple of career records, while people fail to notice that he played quite a few more games than the previous record holders or played on a stellar team with an awesome line for most of his career. Much like Pete Rose and Nolan Ryan, I don't think Emmitt is the peer of the other greats at their position. I won't argue that he is a hall of famer, and I would probably grudgingly have to put him at #4 on my best RB's list (there seems to be a hell of a dropoff after those top 3 in my book at least). But when I here the greatest RB of all-time talk, I'm going to get a little nautious(probably spelled wrong) and start questioning the speaker's credibility. Great post. I also don't think he was at the same level as those three. I can't blame him for staying around as long as he could though. If I were a professional athlete or just doing something I enjoy my whole life I wouldn't want to give it up either. I don't understand why people think that athletes need to go out on top before they "tarnish" their legacy. I just think that if a team still wants a player, even if they aren't as great as they used to be, that player has every right to hang on until the very end.

  3. fluke n. 1. A stroke of good luck. 2. A chance occurrence; an accident The fact that you haven't been banned yet is a fluke. One of the most dominant defenses of all time winning a Super Bowl and completely destroying their competition is not a fluke.

QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 12:21 PM) Five bucks is too much for really bad hip hop. Yeah, especially if you consider a revolutionary band that has reinvented themselves multiple times, who's been around for over 20 years and sold millions of records, including one of the best albums ever produced (Paul's Boutique) to be "really bad hip hop". :finger
  12. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 08:20 AM) There's an excellent sketch on my Mr Show DVD where Bob and David portray rival junior college recruiters trying to sign a 5-year-old kid who can barely dribble a basketball. Mr Show = Haha, I haven't seen that one, but for some reason I was actually reminded of the Mr. Show sketch in which they have the fetus beauty contest. Good stuff!

  14. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 11:12 PM) Word has it that Randle is in TERRIBLE shape, a huge reason he's not coming back. Damn, that could, stress on the word COULD, hurt the Illini come tournament time. In a one and done situation if Illinois gets into foul trouble they don't have as deep of a bench as you would like to see. Ingram is the only guy that I believe has played solid basketball consistently off the bench. Smith is just to inconsistent and McBride doesn't have the 3-point shot that he had last year. Hopefully, he'll come back strong next year and make that extra year worthwhile.

$165 for tickets and the music business wonders why it's struggling. I paid about $50 for the Beastie Boys and it was almost too much for me even though I was on the floor.
  16. So, if Illinois beats Minny at Assembly Hall they should be unanimous in both polls, should've been this week but there was 1 dukie in the AP poll. I wonder if that's another first for Illini basketball. It's pretty amazing that Illinois is having this kind of year during the celebration of their 100th year of basketball.
  17. Right Now... Illinois Duke North Carolina BC End of Season... Illinois North Carolina Kansas Kentucky Who really knows though, there's still a lot of games to be played.
  18. Go back to the Rich McBride three that he made when Illinois was down 8, he's been struggling with his shot this year, then the 2 Ingram threes. Those plays really turned the game around and Illinois never looked back. 2 bench players. Great game for the Illini!
  19. Wisconsin better slow this pace down if they want to win. Illinois' scored 21 points in the first 8 minutes.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 04:22 PM) I finally saw Hero. Damn was that a really good movie. Highly recommend it. Some really cool martial art scenes and a pretty good story. Warning, you better be able to read if you see the movie though cause it is in subscripts. Its a Japanese movie. And by Japanese Jason means Chinese.
