QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 16, 2013 -> 09:58 PM) Yes he was able to beat up a tiny Miami team. When he's not playing the Heat he's an extremely average offensive player. He killed Noah (who admittedly was coming off injury) this year. He may have turned the corner

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 16, 2013 -> 09:53 PM) They're very good but Hibbert and unstoppable do not go together. He's not a very good offensive player. Did you watch the ECF last year?

Also, pretty sure lebron has a chance of shooting over 60% this year. He's doing to the league what I could see prime mike doing today and making the league reconsider the hand check rule. He's playing the nba like a joke. e: I'm drunk. Lebron will have the best statistical season since the merger.

QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 16, 2013 -> 09:41 PM) I'm going to go back to my original assertion that this Indiana team isn't that f***ing good. You have Paul George, who is great, plus no guards. Hibbert is breaking out and is a great piece. I feel like West never ends up playing up to his ability on that team, for a whatever reason. Maybe I just overrate West. No depth IMO on Indiana. A resurgent Granger could make them quite a bit formidable, though, if that ever exists. Not sure how well he and George would share the floor though. They have much better depth than last year and were able to take Miami to 7 games. Hibbert is basically unstoppable when he's the focal point of the offense because of the lack of centers now. Indiana is likely just as good healthy (hill and Danny in the backcourt, with CJ and lance coming off the bench) as anybody. Scola was a huge get. George is taking the next step. This team is good.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Nov 15, 2013 -> 05:22 PM) Sorry to rub it in Illinois fans, but are you kidding? Did you really think you would get this guy? Do yourself a favor and assume Illinois will not get a 5-star recruit until they are at least a perennially top 25 program again. Even then, reality check, you probably won't get them very often. The blue chip recruits go to the blue blood schools. Why would we assume something stupid like that? Have you seen what teams like NC State, Baylor, and SMU have been able to bring in recently? Hell, Weber pulled a 5 star when Illinois wasn't a perennial top 25 team. Get over yourself, dick. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 15, 2013 -> 04:25 PM) Maybe. He could have also wanted his one year to be assured a tournament run. Kansas was the only team of his finalists that can basically guarantee that. I don't think his final list would have looked like that if that's what he was worried about. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 15, 2013 -> 04:24 PM) Worst day in Illinois basketball history? It's up there. There were some really, really bad days under Weber though. The 33 point Penn State game, the Nebraska debacle, and just his final years in general. At least there's light at the end of the tunnel here. Groce has constructed a roster that wasn't reliant on hitting homeruns in this class to do solid. He's built a hell of a foundation in just two years. If we miss on Matthews then I'll start to worry that he might not ever get the blue chippers in Chicago. -

Watch him choose Memphis. The lone school that nobody has predicted or gotten any smoke. I could see him doing it, ha. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 15, 2013 -> 01:28 PM) Would not surprise me at all but I would be shocked if the guy that broke that story actually knows. Marcus Jackson is hearing KU from his sources too apparently. That's definitely not a good sign. It has been reported that Cliff hasn't notified the teams yet, so I guess there is still some hope, but not much. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 15, 2013 -> 11:17 AM) He has basically never not had an offer from them. He had a chance to decommit from Illinois 2 months ago when Lyle decommitted from Louisville and they said they weren't going to go back to Louisville and that their commitment was solid. The family has zero integrity. Exactly. When he decommited from Louisville originally he still had an offer. It was his choice. He just didn't want to be behind Lyle it seemed. He should have reopened his recruitment immediately when Lyle left. -

Evan Daniels @EvanDanielsFOX 3m Illinois was informed of the decision about two minutes ago, per my source. Louisville has already received Snider's Letter of Intent. Keep it classy, Quentin. -

QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 15, 2013 -> 10:30 AM) Yeah, if true, Snider can go f*** himself Yup. Apparently the Sniders informed the staff that they were talking to Louisville two days ago. Very scummy move. Tate not looking useless and Starks getting his waiver denied makes Snider less of necessity. He would have still been an absolutely huge get, but if the Illini can pull in Brunson or some other good 2015 PG recruit, it won't be as huge of a hit. Edit: He officially signed with Louisville. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 09:50 PM) Don't think there's anything to worry about regarding QS fwiw. Agreed. It also sounds like the Lyle camp is leaking some of the Cliff to KU stuff. It could definitely just be smoke. I don't feel any different now than I did earlier. I think it's 50/50. The fanbase shouldn't meltdown just yet. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 02:56 PM) Unfortunately for her if he picks Kansas she's going to lose a lot of credibility with Illinois fans. I think Cliff either told her to write that or that she could write that. She has been saying Illinois and Kansas for the past few weeks (started off with KU leading at 60-40 and then went to 50-50) and all of a sudden it's Illinois and DePaul with Illinois leading 70-30? I don't think there's any way she reports that without Cliff giving her the info and the go ahead to report that. He could be doing it as a smokescreen, but he will definitely do some damage to her reputation if he chooses anyone other than Illinois or DePaul. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 10:47 AM) I didnt think Bama passed the eye test either during the season. They had one loss and barely beat Georgia and LSU, their OOC wins were western KY, FAU and western carolina. The fact they were in the SEC got them in the BCS title game and they clearly came to that game more than prepared. ND at the time looked like the best team in the country with those wins and zero losses, as well as what people thought was some legit NFL talent. As much as we all hate ND and their fans, before the blowout they looked pretty legit on paper. I don't think there was any point where ND actually looked like the best team in the country. There was a reason they were 10 point dogs to Bama (whose last game was barely beating UGA). They were #1 because they were undefeated, but not many people thought they were actually the best team in the country outside of ND fans. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 10:28 AM) No MCW? No problem. James Anderson, who's averaging just over 4 ppg for his career, drops 36 points on 16 shots (including 6 3's). Crazy s***. Their front office has to be furious right now. This was not the plan at all. Maybe we'll see a Head Coach fired for winning (whose name isn't George Karl).

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 04:09 PM) I wonder where that leaves Turner. I really thought Okafor was going to land at Duke. Most people still think okafor to duke. Friday should be interesting. I'm hearing turner is interested in Texas and people on the KU board thought it was 50/50 with them and Texas. I haven't followed that recruitment, but that's what I've seen while stalking other boards for info on cliff. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 01:48 PM) Apparently only Scout would. They dont like KBD much huh. We need another big at some point, maybe he'll just roll it over to the 2015 class which is already off to a nice start. The way scout does their rankings has Cliff being equal to a guy like KBD (both 5 stars). I would bet if you asked anybody that actually worked for scout, they would take an Illinois class with Cliff over the OSU class. Their system is just flawed. Either way both schools have really good classes. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 10:59 AM) For his one year at Illinois, do they have the players in place to make a title run? It really depends on how the chemistry is. It would be the best looking Illini team in a very long time though. A SR PG in Abrams, RS JR SG in Cosby, RS SR SF in Rice, top 5 player at PF, and a SR at C in Egwu. That's a lot of experience. Not to mention the bench guards will be guys like Nunn, Snider, Tate, and Starks and the Forwards will be Hill, Black, and Darius Paul. There should be a ton of depth.
