QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 16, 2013 -> 10:44 AM) I'm definitely feeling like the predicted fall of the Bears defense is absolutely not going to happen. Two years ago Tucker had a top 5 defense in Jacksonville running a cover 2 scheme. Apparently he's even using the same verbiage as the last regime for continuity. This defense is perfect for him and anybody who thought the defense would drop off drastically didn't know very much about Mel Tucker. The only reason to believe it would drop off is if it was thought Peanut and Jennings couldn't continue playing the way they have been.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 09:11 AM) Snider taking an unofficial too. Black, Snider and Cliff please. That would be insane. Black alone, considering where Illinois was a bit over a year ago, would be insane. Most people thought it would be 2015 until Groce got a true impact level recruit. -
Hank has an interesting dilemma. Not only is Walt his brother-in-law, but Hank used Walt's meth money to pay for most of his medical bills and therapy and stuff. I also think Hank turns him in, but it can't be easy.

QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 11:49 AM) Meyer and Rabjohns have both made posts on separate boards expecting Black to pick Illini. Said Black has been telling those close to him he wants to play right away and not have to compete for PT. His commit would be huge for Groce. I'm not sure if Black would even start as a freshman. He would get a good amount of playing time though. -

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 12:44 PM) Illinois apparently making big strides with Leron Black. A lot of national and local reporters are saying Black is really high on Illinois and expect them to land him. The Jerry Meyer thing is really exciting. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 3, 2013 -> 02:41 PM) Alabama did last year. They missed Georgia, Florida, & South Carolina. (in the regular season of course) I am not saying they weren't the best team, but they were a bit lucky on the cross division scheduling. They had the best OL in college history. What Saban is doing is insane. -
So question for J4L. If lebron would have averaged 45 a game in the 80s (more than mike) and if you think lebron is as good in this era as mike was in his era (and you think this era is better), is lebron better than Jordan? Apologies for rehashing an old argument, but I've been drinking so whatevs

Michael Dyer is going to Louisville and is immediately eligible. Wow. If Bama or Ohio State loses a game Louisville could be playing in the title game. They should go undefeated. -
DJ Williams was carted off the field today. He's week-to-week.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 09:28 PM) he had no choice. after letting his Florida players run wild over Gainesville and being called out on it as of late, Meyer had no choice than to suspend him for multiple games. even with the girl slapping him first, he still went back to her and slapped her and ran off. and it was caught on camera. is Meyer that bad at punishing players that we have to commend him doing what should be done? Carlos must not be in Urbans circle of trust if he got three games... -

Turk McBride ruptures his achilles tendon. Well that certainly doesn't help with the Bears already shallow defensive line.

So it looks like Carlos Hyde is getting dismissed from the Ohio State football team and Bradley Roby was arrested yesterday morning. The Buckeyes chances of winning a title this year look like they might take a hit. -

QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 17, 2013 -> 02:17 AM) Could you elaborate on what is wrong? Zone is pretty much unplayable because the defenders have terrible awareness. Man gets beat very often by man beater type plays and sometimes the QB can just challenge a defender by throwing it to a covered guy and the defender won't react to it and the pass will be caught. The read option is very strong in the game, as is running in general. Overall scores won't be too high because running is much more prevalent in this years game (which eats clock), but getting actual stops is very, very hard. I'm good at football games generally (was something like 35-10 online last year and was much better online two years ago), but this year's game is almost unplayable.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 16, 2013 -> 04:09 PM) Whoops. Well, that makes it even better. Take out Murphy and add Brand. But that wouldn't fit the "BULLS ARE TERRIBLE AT DRAFTING" narrative. We traded Brand for Chandler though

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 14, 2013 -> 06:01 PM) Has anyone picked up NCAA 14 yet and is it worth it? If you like playing against other users I wouldn't buy it until an update is out. The defense is broken this year. Almost impossible to play.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 12, 2013 -> 12:52 PM) Or passing it to open teammates. By game 5 and 6 the Heat finally gave up on Lebron guarding Parker because it wasn't as effective as they thought and it was tiring Lebron out. Not sure what Finals you were watching. Edit: I didn't mean that Parker literally had his way with Lebron and got to the hoop whenever he wanted. I meant that Lebron being on Parker didn't stop Parker from doing what he wanted to get the Spurs offense rolling, be it a kick-out to a shooter or a pick and roll. It wasn't the show stopper like Lebron on Rose. Parker wasn't even 100% healthy either and he looked terrible in game 7. I remember one time he had the Birdman on him and could barely keep his dribble.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 12, 2013 -> 09:53 AM) When Lebron was put on Rose it did a couple things. Lebron was quick enough to stay with Rose longer than most of the other guys. Doesn't have to be the whole way to the hoop, just for an extra step or two. Lebron's size also mean that Rose was facing up against a ton of size. Rose couldn't move him off of him easily. So, Lebron's size made it so that Rose couldn't overpower him or shoot over him, and since he could stay with him an extra step or so and prevent Rose's usual strength and jumping advantages from turning into a shot, it fed him right into the help defense in the lane. Lebron on Rose set it up for the team to have an easier job shutting him down with the help defense. It didn't shut him down on its own, but when they threw that at him, it took away every scoring option other than "ditch to the outside". No other team has a physical freak like that to throw at Rose, so Rose was used to either being able to blow by defenders before the help got there or overpower defenders with his strength and leaping. The physical specimens the Heat had on their roster, Lebron in particular, were key to disrupting what worked for the rest of the year for him. I can agree with that, but I'd like to add that Rose wasn't all that confident in his jumpshot in that series, nor was it falling at a great rate, so Lebron was the perfect defender. Think of when Diaw was guarding Lebron in this past finals and no, I'm not saying Diaw is the defender that Lebron is, but Lebron was able to give space which also helped him stay with Rose longer just as it helped Diaw against Lebron. If Rose was hitting his jumpshot it would have been a lot more interesting because Lebron would have had to pick something (like he had to against Jason Terry the next round).

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 12, 2013 -> 09:46 AM) I don't agree with J4L often, but this is gospel. Rose was awful anytime LeBron was on him. Uh, yeah, because when he got by him the Heat defense collapsed and Rose got his shot blocked. One time he even passed out to Brewer for an open three, but he tried to force things too often. The point is that Lebron didn't guard him 1 on 1. It was a team effort and if the Bulls had better outside shooting they could have taken advantage of it. Would you like me to post the videos for you?

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 12, 2013 -> 09:29 AM) A quote by the player in question himself? Did LeBron pay Derrick to say it's difficult when a 6'8 guy can easily guard you? Could it just have been lip service? Maybe trying to get the Heat to play true and let Lebron play Derrick 1 on 1? The video evidence CLEARLY shows Lebron can't easily guard him. He got by him numerous times and got his shot blocked numerous times, and by who? Not Lebron. Hence the collapsing defense. You really can't admit that Lebron had a ton of help defense behind him that collapsed every time Rose got by him? Seriously?
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 12, 2013 -> 09:12 AM) No, LeBron's freakish size and athleticism gives Rose a lot of problems. Rose already testified to this. You searching youtube for one or 2 instances in which Rose got by LeBron means nothing. Overall, LeBron is Rose's daddy. Means nothing? To you, yes, because you take evidence with a grain of salt and rely on what you think is right. I'll stick to my video evidence and you can stick to a quote. And it's not like I'm calling Lebron a bad defender or something. I'm just saying that people thinking he shut down Rose by himself are way, way off.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 12, 2013 -> 12:02 AM) But you see, Melo wouldn't make us the favorite. 2000 Shaq? That makes us the favorite. If anything, LeBron can only cover one of Rose/Melo. Because he owns both. Yeah, the Heat do give Rose a lot of problems with their collapsing D, but hopefully Butler can help with that. He seems like a much better scorer than Bogans was.
