QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 10:30 AM) I dont know about that. There are a lot of key players off the books next season, like over half the team. It is gonna be a crazy offseason Jeez. I just did some research after you said this and it looks like 7 or 8 out of the 11 starters on defense this year will be a FA. I wonder if Emery tries to shift to a 3-4 or more of a hybrid defense now that most of the cover 2 personnel will be off the books.

Okafor and Jones to announce their college choice at 3:00 PM on Friday. I'm a bit worried now. Do all three go to KU? -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 11, 2013 -> 02:06 PM) Great. That's their 3 best defensive players missing about 25 games combined. Not to mention the nickleback that missed the whole season, the replacement for Melton getting hurt, along with the starting MLB. This season has been a nightmare.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 10, 2013 -> 09:42 PM) "Big Cliff's HS coach saying it's 50-50 Illinois and DePaul with a school likely being cut tomorrow? Kansas or Memphis cut tomrorrow?" I have this bad, bad feeling he's going to pick DePaul. And I'm going to f***ing lose my s***. THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE Oliver has been pushing for DePaul for a while though. He might just be biased. -

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 8, 2013 -> 11:38 AM) I am not certain why OSU is now treated the way they are as I would think they would be getting the publicity they get. I suppose it is because the the Big Ten is just not that highly thought of. The B1G is awful and they haven't played anybody. That's pretty much the reason. Similar to when Boise couldn't get love in the BCS even though they would start the season off with a big OOC win (like UGA, Va tech, or Oregon). Is the B1G stronger than the MWC? Probably, but it still looks like one of the weakest power conferences. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 4, 2013 -> 07:16 PM) Whether you look at the skillet of Wilson or look at the stats he's absolutely in the discussion with Luck. I've seen every snap of Wilson's career and I'd say he has a stronger arm and is more accurate than Luck while Andrew is more physically imposing. I couldn't care less about the Seahawks record when evaluating qb's but Wilson is every bit as good as Luck, if not better. Wilson has a much better team, had the luxury of running the read option while teams didn't know how to defend it, and has a much better running game to fall back on. Lynch was a 1600 yard rusher last year. Seattle is loaded. You might be able to argue that Wilson is as good as Luck right now, which I would disagree with, but Luck clearly projects to be better than Wilson.

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 4, 2013 -> 09:51 AM) A good source predicts that when Cliff makes his announcement, the two hats on the table will be Illinois and DePaul. WhaaaaT? Interesting none the less for Illini fans. This terrifies me for some reason. -

QUOTE (gatnom @ Nov 2, 2013 -> 05:21 PM) Once they gain experience, they will improve. At the very least, they'll get bigger and stronger. Whether or not the recruits are good enough to be mediocre with experience is debatable, I guess. So you would like to take a wait-and-see approach with a coach that has proven to be awful in-game and has been recruiting at the bottom of the B1G? That seems like a recipe for disaster. At least right now the Illini have two QBs in Lunt and Bailey that a different coach might be able to capitalize on. -

QUOTE (gatnom @ Nov 2, 2013 -> 04:17 PM) This blog post here sums up my thoughts pretty nicely: http://illiniboard.com/2013/10/21/expounding/ Yes, that shows how Zook screwed up near the end, but it's not like Beckman has come in and is lighting the world on fire with his recruiting. Most of the players that are committed have MAC type offers. I don't think the Illini will be trending upwards with low 3 star and 2 star players for recruits. -

QUOTE (gatnom @ Nov 2, 2013 -> 02:47 PM) I wouldn't be entirely opposed to getting another coach. I just wonder who would want to take on an all but shattered program, and perhaps more importantly would I even want them as a head coach? I mean we're definitely not in better shape than we were last coaching search, and we didn't exactly get our pick of the litter. I think Beckman can get us to mediocre, or at least on the path to it, given one more year. What makes you think it will get better and not worse? The recruiting hasn't exactly been good. -

Why not make it a 1 point game when you're clearly outmatched upfront in a short yardage situation? Whatever, I'm not even mad, let Beckman keep losing games... -
QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 1, 2013 -> 03:53 PM) If you told me several months ago that he'd struggle out the gate, I wouldn't be surprised. It's surprising that he looked so sharp in the preseason and looks this way now In all fairness to Rose, he has played against the #1 and #2 seeds in the East last year. It doesn't really excuse the 1.7 PER he's putting up, but it hasn't been the easiest start by any means.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2013 -> 09:27 AM) Wow, Lyle has really turned himself completely around in these few months..... You haven't heard? He has gotten rid of every single bad influence in his life and is now a choir boy. That's why he has tons of schools knocking the doors down to get him..... He is definitely talented though, I'll give you that. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 09:46 AM) Supposedly, Okafor has a final 2. Not sure yet but guessing Duke is one. And Kansas is most likely the other. -
Rose looked pretty bad, but that was a really tough matchup for him to start the season with. It's also pretty obvious that this team is lacking chemistry right now, especially offensively, but I expect that to get better. It was a game where Deng and Butler picked up 3 very early fouls, Rose played his first real game in a long time, Noah was clearly out of game shape, and guys like Dunleavy and Snell played their first game with a new team. This while playing against the defending champs. It was the perfect storm for a s***-show. There isn't much to take from this game except that Jimmy Butler looks pretty legit. We'll know more in the future.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 04:37 PM) We like to pretend this never happened. But it did. It's usually not regarded as a huge blemish because the guy took a long break from the game and clearly wasn't the same player that year that he was in 93 or in 96. He shot worse that season than he did in his wizards years. He started to come into form, but his TOs were still way up. He just wasn't the same player.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 09:05 AM) Rose's improved range and yes, the athletic freak known as Jimmy Butler will make quite a difference. The Bulls are just long all around. They are going to be great defensively against the Heat while being damn hard to guard with that length. Even Dunleavy is almost 7 feet tall. +1. The Heat really dared Rose to beat them with his jump shot and he just couldn't (it didn't help that he was on a bum ankle at the time). Butler is a huge difference because not only can he hit 3s at a decent rate (38% last year in the regular season and over 40% in the playoffs), but he is also a threat to drive to the rim and draw fouls. He averaged about 4.5 FTs per game last year in the playoffs and this was playing with a depleted Bulls team. Butler is already a better 3 PT shooter than Bogans ever was and is clearly a much better all around player. This isn't the same Bulls team as three years ago and they shouldn't be treated as such.

So I know this is biased and I don't want to offend Lebron4life, but we got to root for a team that had Michael Jordan on it. Just think about it E: Michael f***ing Jordan.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 16, 2013 -> 07:30 AM) Aaron Craft just lost all his value. I was thinking the same thing. I wonder if they call the rules as strictly for known "good defenders" like Craft. Some guys get away with more than others, or they did under the old rules. Craft and Kramer from Purdue a few years back were just guys that seemed to get away with murder.
