  1. I've been thinking about the scholarship situation for Illinois and I'm really not all that worried. If Starks doesn't get his waiver, why wouldn't he use the 5th year transfer thing and just transfer elsewhere as a grad student and play immediately? If he decides to stay, maybe Tate decides to leave. I just can't imagine one of them wanting to be the 4th string PG on the roster. That would leave the illini set on scholly's. If Cliff decided to go to UI, there would be 4 PFs on the roster (Cliff, Paul, Colbert, Finke-- and that's not including Black), so I would guess that one of them would transfer. Probably Colbert.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2013 -> 07:50 AM) Elite teams win titles. I think he was saying elite "team defense" and not "elite team" defense. The bulls have elite "team defense" for sure.
  3. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 12, 2013 -> 10:43 PM) Cliff tweeting he will be visiting Illinois on Oct 26. Yes, an official visit too. It was originally thought that the Illini wouldn't get an official. Pretty huge.
  4. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 12, 2013 -> 01:44 PM) What was "the tweet" that happened this morning? Apparently Chip Sylvie posted, Illinois fans. You may get Quentin Snider tonight. He'll replace Jaylon Tate who is a !!!!ty, miserable basketball player" And then went on to defend it and berate everyone who responded in the process BTF sent me that
  5. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 12, 2013 -> 01:31 PM) Some posters aren't too bad, but man the high and low of emotions over there is just terrible. That Kramer dude is a very solid poster though. Yeah, lately with the influx of new posters it's definitely gotten worse it seems. Kramer is probably my favorite poster.
  6. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 9, 2013 -> 09:13 AM) If I had to bet, I still think he picks UCLA. Have you seen something else somewhere? You can either play for Groce, or you can play for a complete scumbag. Up to you, son. Jerry Meyer just changed his crystal ball to Illinois. Pretty good sign. Jenks, disregard.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 7, 2013 -> 12:05 PM) Never doubt Vegas Cincy is on the take. 4 out 5 OL are returning and they had penalties on their each of their first four drives. Jk. Sort of.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 5, 2013 -> 11:01 AM) You think prior to the 2014 class that Illinois has a lineup on par with what the top teams have been bringing in? I feel like you havent looked at other "rankings" in awhile and are getting caught up in possibly grabbing top guys. More power to ya, but I think you guys are getting quite ahead of yourselves. Rice, Cosby, and Paul won't show up in recruiting rankings because they are transfers. Experience is more important than you seem to be letting on and the 2014-2015 lineup should have a lot of it.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 5, 2013 -> 10:39 AM) =Will be close to on par with the top teams in the conference. It's all about sustainability, how well can you recruit year over year, not just one class. With the transfers that Groce has brought in, along with the 2013 recruiting class, the 2014-2015 team would absolutely be on par with the top teams of the conference. You're talking about a potential lineup of SR Abrams, redshirt JR Cosby, redshirt SR Rice, FR Cliff Alexander, and SR Egwu. With a bench of two top 40 players and a few top 75 players that would be sophomores among others. That team would be absolutely stacked. I'm not saying that the illini are going to get both snider and cliff, but let's not downplay the impact they would make on that team. That illini team should be close to on par with the top teams WITHOUT snider and cliff that year.
  10. People are hinting at a commitment from Snider come Sunday. That would just be unbelievable. Snider said he was actively recruiting Black and Alexander while at Louisville. Makes ya think.
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 12:51 PM) Hmm Williams over Bostic still? I could see Bostic getting some snaps over Williams in obvious run situations or against running teams, but at this point Williams is leaps and bounds better in pass coverage than Bostic is. He's also familiar with the cover 2.
  12. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 12:10 PM) The national consensus seems to be that the Bears are a .500 or worse team this year. Am I just being too much of a homer, because I think they'll be at least as good as last year? The bears O/U was 8.5 wins and I think it was juiced for the over. I think consensus would say most people (or at least those who bet) think the Bears will be better than 8 wins. The mean projection for Bears wins was 8.1 on football outsiders almanac though.
  13. QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 2, 2013 -> 03:30 PM) It opened at 10-11 I believe. Only people betting these games right now are the Pros. If you like Illinois then wait towards the end of the week when it gets back up towards 10. If you like Cincy then jump now. The pros have bet this thing down to 7 and will probably start laying money on Cincy so they can try to middle the game. Yeah, 10.5 I believe. Sharps have bet it down apparently. When I first saw it last night I thought it was wrong though and would play cinci up to -14. I just want to see some reasoning as to why the line is so low. Illinois lost one time
  14. Cinci is down to -7 against Illinois on Saturday. Time to lose everything I have because Vegas clearly knows something that I don't.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 31, 2013 -> 06:50 PM) Did they never fix the BTN feed in the city? I live next to OHare in the burbs and had the Illinois game from the start. I live in bridgeport and missed the whole game.
  16. QUOTE (gatnom @ Aug 31, 2013 -> 03:21 PM) For as bad as he's been, I genuinely feel bad for Tim Beckman. He's gotten so much unnecessary s*** from the Illinois fan base. Hopefully, the guy that gets brought in next year is better. He won't have to live up to unreasonably high standards right off the bat at least. Unreasonably high? What do you think the fanbase expected him to do? I think many thought it would be a rebuilding process, but the guy won two games last year. The defense went from one of the best in college football to absolutely awful.
  17. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 29, 2013 -> 11:55 PM) Ole Miss Vandy this is one of the best games ever. Holy god. I had Ole Miss -3. What an emotional roller coaster. From up 10-0 to down 21-10, and then the ending. Ridiculous. The betting gods got back at me though because I had USCw -21.5 against Hawaii and they scored TD with 40 secs left to leave me covering until Hawaii had a fumble call reversed and threw a bomb to backdoor. ' Just a crazy night of football. I'm glad it's back.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 02:33 PM) 5 star Mickey Mitchell commits to Thad. He was a lock anyway. So I googled him and wasn't expecting him to look the way he does. Then I looked at his youtube video and I wasn't expecting him to be the type of player he is. He looks like a good get, but his appearance doesn't really like that of a basketball player and then his game doesn't really look like the game that someone of his appearance would have. I was expecting some white shooter with good fundamentals, not some flashy ball handler that dunks all the time, haha.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 02:06 AM) 45 ppg was an exaggeration. 40 ppg probably is as well. Just as the silly notion that MJ playing today would average 40/45 ppg or could score 100 points. LeBron would be every bit as dominant, probably moreso, in the 80's (inferior athletes across the board and drastically inferior defense outside of the Pistons) as he is today. No, I don't think LeBron is better than MJ as of 2013. Sorry for taking so long to reply. Apparently you can call respected mods f***ing idiots (Steve to Balta) and not get suspended. But I can get 30 days for laughing at something people think I shouldn't laugh at. I laugh at beheadings, too, by the way Soxtalk mods. Does that warrant 60 days? I agree that Lebron would be better in the 80s due to the tempo, but he wouldn't be as big then as he is now. The pace would be too much for him that he would have to slim down a decent amount. It's obviously impossible to tell, but thanks for the response. I forgot that I had written that.
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 16, 2013 -> 08:31 PM) Yeah, Izzo and Cal know nothing about talent either. Ulis is killing it nationally this summer, whether you're tired of hearing about him or not. ... Who said they didn't? Ulis still isn't even a 5 star, let alone top 5 player. You began by comparing him to cliff and okafor, not me. Look, Ulis might have a great collegiate career. I doubt he starts as a freshman though and he almost definitely has to put on weight. We're not even sure his uk and MSU offers are unconditional.
  21. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 16, 2013 -> 08:18 PM) You must be fed up with Jahlil and Cliff then. I feel like there's a difference between two top 5 players both from Chicago and a top 50 pg from the suburbs.
  22. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 16, 2013 -> 07:05 PM) Kentucky offers Tyler Ulis. Oh wait, but he's too small... Ulis fans sure do love the guy. I guess calipari wants a guy that can back up for a few years before starting. Makes sense after the PG problems he had this year. Ryan Harrow didn't work out so hot.
  23. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 16, 2013 -> 04:45 PM) I think it has to do with age more than coordinator. Three of the stars on defense are now 32 and older. One of the 32 year olds is coming off the best year of his career and the other two played well last year too. They kept Melton, replaced an aging urlacher, and young DL like McClellan, Paea, and Wootton have another year under their belt. Age would have been pretty foolish too.
