  1. MLB debut and he didn't even get to bat? Brutal, poor kid.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 02:53 PM) I know. I was just thinking how sad it is that it's still June and I can't look forward to any baseball games again the rest of the year. It's actually been this way the entire season for me. It's very bizarre to be fan of a team out of it on June 1. Nothing to look forward to, baseball wise. If we win a game it doesn't matter. If we lose it doesn't matter. Very sad that I have no desire to watch the Sox tonight or any night the rest of the year. I guess this could be the start of me losing interest in baseball completely which would please this board immensely. I mean we're looking at 5 more years of this. I find it impossible to believe the Sox can be this bad for 3-5 more years and not lose all young baseball fans. Why would a kid in grade school or high school follow this horses*** team? Sox marketing must not be worried but I can't imagine this team being relevant for a long time to come. Yet you watched the last 8 years knowing the Sox had zero chance. It must be like watching KU basketball in the NCAA tourney, knowing they have zero chance to win it all, but playing along anyway.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 02:45 PM) I never thought Chicago would fail as a city. Winters are cruel of course, but aside from that, Chicago had everything. If Chicago has failed as a city then Bill Self has failed as a NCAA basketball coach. It has its struggles, people are walking away, but it's still among the best around.
  4. What's amazing is that the Nats are on pace to win 98 games with this bullpen. They could be a 110+ team with a real pen.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 01:28 PM) Atlanta BravesVerified account @Braves The #Braves today designated RHP Bartolo Colón for assignment and selected the contract of LHP Rex Brothers from Triple-A @GwinnettBraves. Rex Brothers is still in baseball?
  6. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 11:05 AM) So the Cavs had a deal in place to trade Kyrie to the Suns for Bledsoe and the 4th pick, and then they were going to trade the 4th pick for George. All of that was in place but the Cavs wanted a long term commitment from Lebron and they couldn't get one. Sounds like Lebron is as good as gone after next season. That was a given once he finally brought CLE the title. I don't know how many years he has left in him, but he could see him playing musical chairs and signing 1-2 year deals and switching between cities.
  7. If the rain holds off, the home runs will be a-flyin'.
  8. QUOTE (Username @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 10:59 AM) Having seen what's happening with the Cubs this year (and the rest of the league) I'm starting to re-consider the need to focus on position players. Even the best core of hitters can't win without the pitching behind it. Young pitching is in demand more than ever, and to be a winner year in and year out you have to have a ton of it. If we end up with an imbalance then we just trade our pitching surplus and/or sign guys to supplement. Plus, then you don't have to overpay for pitchers on the FA market or trade market. But then you look at the Mets who have all the pitching and they can't keep it healthy. The Sox have been much better about keeping their guys healthy, but it still seems riskier
  9. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 10:21 AM) So the Dodgers lost last night on a walkoff strikeout. https://mediadownloads.mlb.com/mlbam/mp4/20...asset_2500K.mp4 Reminded of Lucas Duda in the WS
  10. QUOTE (Scoots @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 08:05 PM) Almost an hour and not even into the 3rd inning yet Gonna cut it close to get 9 innings in at this speed
  11. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 11:30 AM) Once Rizzo spoke up, you knew it was done. Rizzo is the new Mr. Cub You know Rizzo's comments came with the Theo seal of approval. "I know you guys all hate the guy, I don't like him either, it's DFA time, feel free to call him out in the media please"
  12. ESPN 1000‏ @ESPN1000 14m14 minutes ago More Rizzo on Miggy's comments: "When you point fingers you're a selfish player. We have another catcher that throws everyone out."
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 10:40 PM) Wow is Montero a horrible teammate He's 100% right, but you probably shouldn't publicly say that about your pitcher. And Montero's not the young gun he used to be either.
  14. Anthony Young, 51, MLB record holder for longest losing streak by a pitcher
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 12:14 PM) "We could have made a better health care plan if we had made the subsidies larger and done more to control drug prices." "Replublicans reply: "if you can't afford health care you should get a better job - it's your failure. If you cost more than $2 million over a lifetime you don't deserve to be alive." Frankly, yeah, you're ok with that if you've pushed a button for a R. The ACA could have been improved. Instead, we're going back to where we were in 2009 - 50 million uninsured, uninsurables, lifetime caps, plans that don't cover the things you actually get and you don't realize it until it's too late. They have been saying that for 10 years. They have been saying for 10 years that people on minimum wage jobs don't deserve health care coverage. People who get sick better have money already. They have said that over and over and over and over and over again. They had no interest in helping people access health care, their #1 priority was denying it to anyone who was undeserving. So yeah, if you've voted for an R, you've been voting to deny health care entirely to 10s of millions of people. Not to fix any of the problems you might note, to go back to where we were in 2009 instead. I missed the link where you quoted every Republican lawmaker of the past 10 years saying those exact things. I would remind you once again of the millions of people who have lost health care since 2009, but you've proven over and over again that they don't exist in your world, so what's the point?
  16. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 12:09 PM) As Reinsdorf has said before. He's only ever had one player who was untouchable and he played basketball. Unfortunately that only pertains to on the field, not off the field.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 09:14 AM) Maybe, but perhaps the difference is they accepted responsibility for their breach. Like that's gonna stop Trumpster from mentioning it over and over
  18. 3 CNN Journalists Resign After Retracted Story on Trump Ally Way to go, let's just encourage the whole FAKE NEWS agenda.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 03:39 PM) There's some Chicago pride going on here with nobody willing to discuss the demise of Chicago and Illinois. I ask a simple question if the rising taxes are making u all consider leaving ASAP and I get no responses. Hey I admit Kansas is the worst state in the union. I'm just trying to get educated on my home state and its woes. I can't because of my company, but yes, there are plenty of people that are ready to get out of Chicago and Illinois because the taxes suck. And the government and leaders suck. I've had multiple friends move away with zero intention of coming back. The only thing keeping people around is Chicago being the best summer city in the world.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 24, 2017 -> 10:54 PM) If you have voted for a single Republican at the state or national level in the past 10 years, you have openly endorsed families being ruined for someone getting cancer. Or whatever. A single Republican vote was an endorsement of this. They made this 100% clear. Preexisting conditons, lifetime caps, ending Medicaid - they have said this over, and over, and over again. Remember that. No. Just f***ing no. Millions and millions of Americans had their health care situation completely ruined by the ACA, but hey, if you ever checked the box next to R once, then you wish for cancer to ruin every American family. Just wow.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 11:49 AM) Wow, what a crazy day. I was sitting at the airport bar and my phone just started blowing up with these craziness. I totally get the Saad deal, he is more of a two way player and younger signed for longer. The Hjalmarsson day is pretty questionable, unless Murphy turns out to be a good player leaving the desert wasteland.
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 11:23 PM) 3 opponents before the break: Yankees, Rangers, Rockies Go get em, Q. Can we schedule the rotation so that Q misses Coors Field? That can do no good for his trade value
  23. QUOTE (Tony @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 11:07 PM) Pax confirmed they didn't want to add another wing, because of Niko and Portis, so they sold Bell... So why did they draft him? Just to get some cash? For all the hate GarPax get, I wonder if the boss upstairs deserves more blame. Not that we haven't discussed that topic plenty in PHT already.
  24. QUOTE (Tony @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 10:38 PM) When a franchise like the Warriors want to pay you 3.5 million for a 2nd round pick....maybe he's a keeper? To be fair, Bell's skill set could really help a team like GSW, while in no way being a core Building block for a rebuilding team. That being said, where is this $3.5 million going? It's a salary cap league. You sell out every game in a top 5 market, how does this money help the rebuild? Does it just go into JR pocket?
