  1. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 11:49 AM) Regardless of how one might view his judgment handling Clinton email stuff last year, Comey seems like a good dude who goes by the book to the best of his ability. If you manage to extremely piss off both political parties, then you are probably doing something right.
  2. D-Will is a cool 0 for 11 in the Finals, didn't even play 4 minutes last night. Like I read on Twitter, the Cavs could've gotten more of Luther Head right now.
  3. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 7, 2017 -> 11:39 PM) Korver almost never misses that shot, it was the right play per usual by LeBron. Can't believe we're still doing the LeBron is too passive routine in 2017. Michael Jordan would never let John Paxson or Steve Kerr take a last second shot with the series on the line, right?
  4. Gary Parrish of CBS reporting that Fred Hoiberg is emerging as a leading candidate for the OSU job. Maybe this should go in the NBA thread...
  5. A few months ago, two kids I hung out with high school died in the same week from heroin overdoses. Not something you expect to hear in your mid 30s.
  6. Hid Dad was a high school coach, felt chest pains during a rivalry game, hung out on the sideline and died a few minutes after the game at age 54. Maybe he's just done with coaching.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2017 -> 02:21 PM) ESPN Stats & InfoVerified account @ESPNStatsInfo Bob Stoops will tell his Oklahoma team he’s retiring, per Oklahoman newspaper. Stoops has the most wins in Oklahoma history (190). Carey Murdock‏ @CareyWWLS 16m16 minutes ago Bob Stoops told me he expects Lincoln Riley (@LincolnRiley) to be his successor. Said retirement is not about his health. Wow. Wonder if that is any blowback from the Joe Mixon stuff.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 7, 2017 -> 09:08 AM) https://www.yahoo.com/news/woman-chinese-fo...-175435160.html Canadian Woman Tells Workers To 'Go Back To China’.. While Ordering Chinese Food in a Toronto grocery But that's not America!
  9. I feel like the Hawks have signed a lot older players from Europe recently and I've heard very little from them afterwards, other than Panarin of course. Sounds like this guy might be more than just a flier.
  10. QUOTE (Boogua @ Jun 7, 2017 -> 11:07 AM) I would not. The Warriors got blown out in game 3 last year and it seems like they're not going to let that happen this year. I've thought for a bit that game 3 would be a good opportunity to bet the Warriors just because people will be on cleveland. Lowe also talked about how the attitude of the Warriors seems so different between games 2 and 3 from last year. Says he thinks they're "out for blood". Last year the Warriors were already printing their "Repeat" championship t-shirts. This year they are much more in focus I think and aren't gonna blow their chance. Oh, and you know, they added Kevin Durant.
  11. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 7, 2017 -> 11:03 AM) Ok fellas...contemplating a big play on Cavs ML tonight... How do we all feel about this one? In 2016 the Warriors won games 1 & 2 by a combined 48 points, then CLE won game 3 by 30. In 2017 the Warriors won games 1 & 2 by a combined 41 points. But Kevin Durant and healthy rested Curry.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 6, 2017 -> 06:01 PM) Sounds like a move to win over the faithful. And the faithful are majority meatheads so it is a good PR move. Until the first interception.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2017 -> 01:50 PM) Patrick Finley‏Verified account @patrickfinley 4m4 minutes ago Mitch Trubisky: I'll be at practice 'every day' despite no contract yet with #Bears Does his agent know about that? Doesn't sound like a smart business move.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 6, 2017 -> 11:09 AM) It should to the non-alt right folks who just didnt want Hillary and now realize that he's a complete buffoon. A lot of those people knew he was a buffoon from day one. But it doesn't matter, because: QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2017 -> 11:01 AM) In the 21st century? Not really. If you are aligned with a political party, you know you have a minimum of 35 to 40% of the country that will make excuses for you, no matter what. Party has become more important than honest, integrity or anything else to the vast majority of voters.
  15. 23 IP, 3 ER, 0 BB, 40 K That Kenley Jansen contract is looking like a steal so far.
  16. These Vegas resort fees are ridiculous. My great price of $179/night quickly turns into $245/night when you add taxes, resort fees, and taxes on the resort fees.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 08:59 PM) You are a great poster, but please ... we're getting NOTHING for Shields. My gosh, what team would want anything to do with him? It only takes one. I mean the White Sox traded a kid with a famous name for him.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 03:13 PM) Yes but the Bulls were at least built the old school way. The Warriors probably are in the finals without Durant, but at least the series would be interesting. They were great when they did it the old way, when stars wanted to lead their team to the championship not join one already in progress. Barkley gets a lot of crap for no titles. He could have signed with the Bulls for the minimum and won several. I don't know why that would make him better. The invention of the super team kind of turned me off. In the NBA they win more frequently. In other sports, not as much, and when they lose it's fun. I can see the argument about how the teams were built, I was just saying that the NBA has always been about a few top teams. The Lakers and Celtics were superteams of their own all through the 80. From 91-99, only two franchises won titles. Then the Lakers & Spurs came along in the 00s. If you go through the historical Finals matchups, it's always periods of the same teams. The NBA screwed it up on their own a little bit. Top free agents can sign their largest contracts if they stay with their current teams, so it's hard for mid-tier team to buy a great player and improve. But the superstars like LBJ and Durant make so much off the court, they can easily pass up the max contracts to create a superteam.
  19. Clay Hall‏ @claywsyx6 Follow More Insider says OSU wish list includes: Brad Stevens, Tony Bennett, Jay Wright, Sean Miller & Billy Donovan. I know that OSU has more money than almost every athletic department in the country, but LOL.
  20. Sidney Crosby has 3 goals scored in 22 career Stanley Cup Final games and two of those goals came in his 3rd Final game. That's one goal in his last 19.
  21. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 11:13 AM) Jesus, Kris Bryant won't hit free agency until he's 30. It's the difference between 3 years of college and going pro right out of high school.
  22. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 11:24 AM) On 4/11, which was the first game after an off-day, we had used Jennings, Putnam, and Jones (for one inning, he was the pitcher right before Robertson in the 9th). I believe that means we had Swarzak, Kahnle, and Ynoa. On 5/16, which was the bottom of the 10th in a tie game, we had used Infante, Beck, Jennings, and Kahnle (for one inning, he pitched right before Robertson). That leaves Swarzak, Ynoa, and Holmberg. April 11 was the sixth game of the year. Robertson had pitched once. You don't know when the next save situation will be, the guy has to get some work. It was a tie game in the 9th, that's as high leverage as it gets too.
  23. Just like the Manchester attacker, these guys had been under surveillance and reported to the authorities multiple times by fellow Muslims for extremism. Major fail by British intelligence.
  24. Anyone else find it ironic that a Chicago sports message board is complaining about the same team being in the NBA Finals every year?
