QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 09:41 PM) Good god Amari Cooper. Imagine the numbers Julio Jones & Cooper could have put up in passing offenses with real quarterbacks. -

Tim Beckman seems like an awful coach and I have little faith in the future, but 6-6 and a bowl bid is a success for Illinois football, so let him stay for another year. (As they should have done with Zook ) Detroit or Dallas, here we come! -
What if Brett Lawrie is Canadian for Gordon Beckham?

Donaldson has one more year of team control left than Lawrie does. I just don't get it -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 11:24 PM) Protestors forced some stores to close on Black Friday. America is pretty pissed and protesting. No, college kids with nothing to do are pretty pissed and protesting. In a month the new iPhone will come out and none of them will remember the name Mike Brown.

So Josh Donaldson is under one more year of team control than Lawrie does. Good for Toronto.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 01:19 PM) Western Kentucky and Marshall kicking off the second half after combining for 91 points in the first half. And of course they haven't scored yet, 13 minutes into the 3rd. It's funny how that works sometimes. -
My hotel out here is right next to a Super Target. Drove home last night around 8:30 and the parking lot was packed to the brim.

2014-2015 NFL Football thread

I read from Brad Biggs that the Bears are 5th in the league in money spent on offense, 26th in money spent on defense. Sure, the defense could be better, but the offense is supposed to carry the team, and they aren't doing the job. These aren't 35-31 shootouts the Bears are losing. The offense went 6 straight games without scoring in the first quarter. Even those NE and Green Bay blowouts could have been a tad bit closer if the offense was able to go on an early long drive to change the flow of the game and give the defense a rest. -
Jeez. Knight seemed like an awful individual, but don't wish that on anybody, still so young.

Maybe Harbaugh is better off leaving town, Colin Kaepernick is not a good quarterback. -
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 27, 2014 -> 10:02 PM) I'm going to guess 7-10 mil for 1 year. That seems excessive for a career below average pitcher, but gotta take chances somewhere

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 27, 2014 -> 02:55 PM) It seems like there is no plan past the initial plan. After the initial plan is snuffed out, then keep trying the initial plan Or immediately dump it off to Forte without even looking for a 2nd or 3rd option. I don't if it's Trestman's strategy or Cutler's inability, but you never see him go through his progressions. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 27, 2014 -> 01:04 PM) What a joke. Nice defense assholes 78 yards, 86 yards, 64 yards, no cheapie drives there. Conte with another concussion. He needs to quit football or he's gonna be a vegetable by age 30. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 27, 2014 -> 12:01 PM) Is Forte's name supposed to have an accent on it? Wikipedia says so and given that he's from Louisiana, it would make sense. Those were the first 1st quarter points for the Bears in seven games since Carolina. Of course the double digit lead is already gone. -
Last Thanksgiving was with my wife's family in Southern California. Ran a turkey trot in 60 degree weather. With my mom's family in Des Moines today, supposed to run a turkey trot in two hours. Current temperature, six f***ing degrees.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 09:16 PM) Have fun selling tickets or trying to convince fans that you care about winning if you trade your star player when you absolutely don't have to. It's not like that star player is selling many tickets anyway.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 05:02 PM) Heard another stat on the radio, bears have 18 false starts already versus 9 all of last year. This is with the same 11starters. That's probably cause the fans cheer loudly when the Bears have the ball. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 10:52 AM) You don't win in the NFL because of skill position players. There are plenty of other areas that are far more key to upgrading, imo, so to give up an extra first rounder for a wideout is just not smart. Look at the Falcons. As great as Julio Jones is, the rest of the roster is lacking in talent, specially the lines. Those 5 draft picks they gave up could have come in handy to fill all those holes. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 08:00 AM) No, and to go further, if the initial witnesses don't lie by claiming that Brown had his hands up and/or his back to the officer when he was shot, and they admit that he was charging the officer, the story doesn't reach anywhere near this level. There were protests (mostly peaceful) in cities all over the US last night with people chanting "Hands up, don't shoot" which is all based on the initial lie that Brown had his hands up when he was shot. Yeah, there have been way worse instances of police killing civilians, yet they are protesting one where the victim physically attacked the officer first.
