QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 09:14 PM) Anyone know the biggest decline in power before/after ASB in MLB history? Chris Shelton?

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 02:51 PM) Echo these sentiments. That is my job at night...to read her her daily stories. Early on they might not pay attention but just tell the story and keep telling it. Hearing people talk and communicate and seeing the adults read are all extremely important things in the development. My advice is no matter how stressed the wife may get, take a few deep breaths and remember...between breast feeding and everything else..they have to do way more so do everything you can to help. My other piece of advice is don't follow the books religiously. Obviously there are things you should / shouldn't do but when it comes to sleeping and schedules and everything else, you also want to apply some common sense and realize all babies are different (this is probably more advice for your wife then for you). While that's true for the most part, this book is the bible when it comes to baby sleeping, especially the first year. It worked like a charm for us and our friends. Read this book! http://www.amazon.com/Healthy-Sleep-Habits...=dp_kinw_strp_1

QUOTE (TRU @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 03:28 PM) See I agree with this. What I don't agree with is no outrage over Josh Brent. Literally not a word about it. Welcome to America. DUI is treated like a badge of honor in this country, not like the serious crime it is. -

Penn State's bowl ban is lifted, they are immediately eligible for postseason play. I doubt it's a coincidence the NCAA announced this right after Ray Rice was cut, perfect timing. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 08:33 AM) Just think about the press conference they had when she apologized over and over. and the countless times the Baltimore organization has gone out of its way to make sure everyone knows that Rice is a great guy. Nice job Goodell. Good job, good effort This is the worst part about it IMO. The team had a press conference where she apologized for her "role" in the incident. Are you kidding me? -

There were a lot of Bills fans at the game yesterday surprisingly. It's a 16 game season and I'm not the type to overreact over one game, but looking at the schedule, that's a game the Bears needed to win. Gonna make it that much tougher to win enough to make the playoffs, unless Shea destroys Rodgers again in 3 weeks. That loss was all on the offense. Given our expectations, the defense wasn't THAT bad yesterday. Other than Jared Allen. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 6, 2014 -> 09:10 PM) Unlike previous games they stuck with it and adjusted. Previously with Kelly he folded like a lawn chair. This MSU defense is rebuilding though. Yeah, we don't know how good MSU is this year, but in the past when Stanford hit them once, they collapsed. -

Props to Oregon, I thought they were dead in the water when they got down. They kind of exorcised their Stanford demons. But I had MSU +12.5, so boo that last touchdown -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 6, 2014 -> 04:16 PM) So Bailey's either redshirting or transferring, right? Has to. Haven't used him in any short yardage, trick plays, or more importantly, goal line. Hopefully the former not the latter, but I agree. Perfect situations to use him. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 6, 2014 -> 12:17 PM) Someday Illinois will hire a football coach who isn't a f***ing moron. That 4th & goal killed me. If they didn't notice on the previous play, when you force all 22 players in between the hashmarks, there won't be much room to advance the ball, especially when offensive line play isn't your strong suit. I'm not saying go 5 wide, but they need to spread it out a bit. -
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Sep 6, 2014 -> 07:44 AM) You're right, I'd rather he rest up and be 100% for Spring Training next year. He's gonna need to be in top shape to beat out Abreu to be the everyday 1B.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2014 -> 09:55 PM) That is fair in our system and I don't see how a reasonable person can object to that. The issue would be if he plea bargained out and he used the "he wasn't convicted by a court" out when that's basically the same thing but different language. Its difficult to fire a person for this type of issue when the law hasn't decided yet. I will grant there is a contrast between that treatment and the Aaron Hernandez treatment which also seems appropriate to me. I guess we will see what happens if McDonald has his day in court, but it seems like Harbaugh is using "due process" to get as much time as he can out of his players while maintaining a positive public image. -

I feel like the wording of this quote says it all: He can play it off until a player is actually found guilty in a court of law, however long that happens, if it even happens. Right now they can just play the "due process" card. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2014 -> 07:31 PM) I think it's time to instead start focusing on the substantial HR gap. And Altuve's average seems to be increasing at a similar rate to Abreu's. On a side note, Josh Harrison and Ben Revere are tied for the NL batting average crown. Wow. What were the odds on those two?

QUOTE (ptatc @ Sep 5, 2014 -> 06:10 PM) It's sad to think that a guy having the season like Abreu is only 5 games better than a replacement player let alone an average player. It really shows that one player really doesn't make much difference in baseball. Look at Mike Trout's past 2 seasons. Between his hitting, baserunning, and defense, he was putting up legendary Hall of Fame type seasons and his team didn't make the playoffs either year. They even finished under .500 in 2013.
