The only reason Trout didn't win in 2012 and 2013 was because his team missed the playoffs. Now that his team has the best record in baseball, I would say he is a lock to win it this year.

You also have to think about TV revenue. It's one thing for locals to be excited to finally have a pro team and attend a hockey game. It's another for them to watch a game on TV at 4:00 local time on a weekday vs the Hurricanes or Panthers.
