  1. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 30, 2014 -> 12:30 PM) Illinois football That first half was sooooooo boring
  2. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 30, 2014 -> 01:48 AM) @CSNMooney: Baez: "We're just waiting for Bryant now." Wow. Calling you out Theo!
  3. QUOTE (kapzk @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 10:24 PM) Felix Hernandez getting rocked tonight, 4 Hr and 5er given up so far in 4 innings ... anyone think there's a possibility Sale can take the Cy Young away from Felix? Sure. If Felix gives up 4 homers about 3 more times.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 09:01 PM) Soler looks incredible. Already looks more comfortable than Baez at the plate. Still not the best Cuban in his own city.
  5. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 11:23 AM) Since sports revenue is driven mostly by TV money these days, here is something the NFL could do that would be radical but would explode their TV money: 1) Start the regular season on the Sunday that falls within the range of September 23-29. [This is for a 16 game season, move a week earlier for a 17 game season.] 2) The 13th week of the regular season will include the Sunday that falls within the range of December 16-22. Each team will get a bye within the range of weeks 4-10. 3) The two weeks after the 13th week are off weeks for all teams. No games. 4) The 14th week of the regular season will include the Sunday that falls within the range of January 6-12. The 17th week of the regular season will include the Sunday that falls within the range of January 27-February 2. 5) Playoff schedule continues as usual following the end of the regular season, with Super Bowl Sunday falling within the range of March 3-9. 6) Eliminate all Thursday games except for Thanksgiving. Add Saturday doubleheaders in Weeks 12-17. Why this helps TV ratings: You move games out of 2-3 weeks in September where ratings suffer because it's still nice weather outside, and 2 weeks in December/January because people are traveling for holidays. You move games into January-February when the weather is too bad to go outside in most parts of the country, plus there aren't many compelling sporting events to compete with. Yet you are gonna increase the amount of outdoor sporting events happening in those parts of the country?
  6. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 10:39 AM) This thread needs more Rutgers talk. B1G! Went on the road and beat the guy who should be Illinois's head coach.
  7. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 09:29 AM) I don't know if age affects his driving ability, but when I was 18-25 I did the same drive home from Sox games dozens of times. He's pretty close to a Toll Road Exit so it's a pretty easy drive. There's a big difference between 18-25 and 73. His age is what I was referring to.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 09:08 AM) yes, but once you use it, you cannot use it for any other player. So, it is kind of important and you want to make sure it is used correctly, especially given Cutlers health issues Forgot about that part of it, Wilson definitely isn't worth it.
  9. Should he really be driving home alone for two hours late at night?
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 09:06 AM) the WR decisions should be interesting. Does Marquess Wilson occupy a 53 man roster spot or is he put on IR? both Morgan and Spurlock didnt play last night, indicating they most likely made the team, and Holmes scored a TD and pretty much sat down. Seems like Chris Williams isnt gonna make it, but if he did that would put the bears at 6 WRs not counting Wilson Didn't they recently create a long-term IR spot where the guy can't come back before Week 12 or something?
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 07:58 AM) I'm so glad mizzou plays crap openers every year. I'm so glad Illinois stopped being Mizzou's crap opener every year
  12. The only reason Trout didn't win in 2012 and 2013 was because his team missed the playoffs. Now that his team has the best record in baseball, I would say he is a lock to win it this year.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 12:46 AM) Especially since Sale doesn't have much more ceiling left to get to...passing Kershaw, Felix and maybe Scherzer? So his ceiling is the 3rd best pitcher in all of baseball? I guess that's decent.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 08:35 PM) And I will laugh when the A's get knocked out in the play-in game. You really think Adam Dunn could be the difference between winning the division and finishing 2nd? Looking at past lineups, I guess it comes down to sub par CF defense from Crisp + Dunns bat vs. above average CF defense from Sam Fuld + his bat. I'm not sure if that difference even equals one win.
  15. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 06:45 PM) Manziel's replacement looks pretty damned good. 31 to 14 A&M. Didn't see that coming at all, impressive. 511 yards on 52 points on the road. The Old Ball Coach may be looking for a new DC tomorrow.
  16. Yusmeiro Petit has broken Mark Buehrle's record of 45 consecutive batters retired. The new record is 46 batters, Petit then gave up a double to the pitcher.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 05:39 AM) That Price/Smyly deal has been pretty lateral outside of TB shedding cash. I picked up Smyly as soon as the deal was made and have been reaping the benefits. It was a move made for the playoffs by Detroit, but you gotta get there first.
  18. QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 23, 2014 -> 06:17 PM) What a terrible name for a pitcher. And Mr. Lobstein is starting tomorrow
  19. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 08:37 PM) Oh I thought it said .130 on the graphic that's why I posted it. He is now hitting .130 with the bases loaded on his career. In 2014 he is hitting .250

  21. Sounds like a big slap in the face to guys like Holmes and Abbatacola. No wonder Goff left.
  22. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 06:28 PM) SOLER HR MLB is no match for the Cuban Invasion
  23. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 07:28 PM) Price absolutely got shelled by the Yankees today. 9 consecutive hits, how often does that happen to any pitcher, let alone a recent Cy Young winner
  24. You also have to think about TV revenue. It's one thing for locals to be excited to finally have a pro team and attend a hockey game. It's another for them to watch a game on TV at 4:00 local time on a weekday vs the Hurricanes or Panthers.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 10:01 AM) So two teams in Toronto? http://www.csnchicago.com/blackhawks/could...-nhl-teams-2017 What's the old joke? If Hamilton gets a NHL hockey team, Toronto will be pissed because they don't have one.
