  1. I'm not a Bulls fan. I'm not an NBA fan either, but my family's obsessed, so I watch my fair share of games. The Bulls should go: Norris Cole, Charles Jenkins, and Travis Leslie. All small school scorers.
  2. Sometimes before interviews, players can ask not to be asked about certain things. Perhaps AJ asked Hawk to talk about the game and his night, not the altercation.
  3. I'm sure that was a reference to me. I'm pissed with Peavy because of what he HASN'T done for this franchise. My siding of AJ and hating on Peavy in the gamethread was because at that time, I was picking sides. I wish Peavy all the best, obviously.
  4. The end of the Cubs, IMO, was when Arizona raped them in the NLDS in (I think) 2007, and Ted Lilly fired his glove at the ground after a homer given up. The next year, James Loney and Manny continued the rape. All in all, Loney's grand slam and Lilly throwing his glove down was the beginning of the end for that group of losers. Castro's a keeper, and that's it. I have a feeling Barney will end up being like Theriot- fan favorite for a few years and playing elsewhere in 4 years. Campana has no offensive game besides his speed. LeMahieu is interesting, but he had like 700 PA's in the minors and only 4 HR's. Colvin hasn't looked the same since that bat practically killed him, and Cashner already has strung together some injuries. I don't follow their farm much- are Jackson and Vitters going to be good?
  5. The Sox face Zimmerman, a**face Gorzelanny, and Hernandez this weekend. That SHOULD be another series win. The Colorado series will be tough, but the Cubs series at Wrigley is very winnable.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 10:56 PM) Since starting 11-22, the Sox are 26-17. That's a pretty solid .604 pct. They still have some rough games, but if they keep .604 up for the final 86, they'll win 89 games. That might get it done. If Dunn gets his s*** togther, I think that would make the Sox the favorites to win the division. It's too bad the Sox IL schedule this year has been tough. Washington is .500, Arizona is solid, Colorado is tough, and the Dodgers, well yeah they suck but they just took 2/3 from Detroit.
  7. I have no idea why this took off like it was Zambrano vs Lee or Barrett from years back. At the time, I defended AJ, but do I think it'll linger? Hell no (especially since Peavy will likely be back on the DL and miss a few starts any start now).
  8. QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 10:16 PM) WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! A.J.'s triple! A.J.'s run! A.J. being on base when Lilli got plucked! A.J.P!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dude, what are you so excited about? He sucks at baseball, I hear.
  9. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 10:14 PM) I missed it with Santos, but that's inexcusable as well if that's what happened. It doesn't matter how much anyone is getting paid here. That's bulls*** from a teammate. I'd love to hear your reaction if he did it to, say, Buehrle, or whoever you don't hate. Because who he did it to does not matter, it's the principle of his actions. I don't HATE Peavy. I hate that he's making way too much to not pitch much. He may have done it with Buehrle or other pitchers before, who knows? On a humorous note, he probably does it every 6th day when Jackson is out there.
  10. It's pretty easy to beat the Cubs when you can get Starlin Mantle out.
  11. Once again, he did the same s*** with Santos vs Oakland. Man the f*** up. You're getting paid $15m per season to not pitch. Can't you buy some really expensive tissues and forget about it?
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 10:08 PM) But that's not playing everyday. He hasn't proven he can play 150+ games in the weak NL, how would he magically be better with us? DH?
  13. Anyone here think Pujols' contract will even be within $25m of $300m?
  14. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 10:04 PM) Sox will definitely tie Cubs at worst. Each gets one, but only Sox can get multiple IMO. Humber, Q (if he gets real hot again) could get in but I think Santos' poor June pitched him out of consideration. I knew I forgot someone (Humber).
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 10:02 PM) So you're trading Quentin or Viciedo? Benching Rios and paying another $6 million, so we'd be committing $18+ million to CF and leadoff? Didn't they offer Quentin a 5yr/$25m contract a few years ago? He could probably get that from someone else, and I'm not sure I'd be content giving him that. If he could land a young arm and/or a bat, so be it.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 10:02 PM) Problem is that he's had very inconsistent seasons including major, month long slumps that could kill an offense. On that note, I agree. Then again, we're all used to it. The Sox preseason #1, #5, and #6 hitters have all had season long slumps.
  17. Who gets more All-Stars: Cubs (Castro, Marshall) or Sox (Santos, Konerko)?
  18. QUOTE (Real @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 10:00 PM) in the alternate universe where these sox fans live that believe you can just dump any players contract to any team and the trade just happens by clicking your heels together three times these same fans think you can just eat contracts and release players making 15m a year for the next 4 years lol If that was intended for me, I don't think I ever said they should release Peavy. Well I mean, they should, but it would never happen for financial reasons and KW would never admitt that kind of mistake already. I just think he's a waste of money, and I don't know how anyone could disagree.
  19. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 09:59 PM) He actually will be a very good steal for someone this off-season. After his first year, he has been a solid player for the Cubs each year. He was grossly overpaid for that .800 OPS, but he brings that OPS with very solid defense and that has value in MLB. So back to my original question, if the Sox are still going for it, would you like him as the lead-off hitter for the Sox? I'd guess that's a yes..?
  20. QUOTE (skidoochic @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 09:56 PM) I know you guys are all done complaining about A.J. but I think you are nuts. I was screaming at my TV to pull that idiot Peavy long before A.J. made the sign. Peavy is a huge waste of money. I say trade his butt and send Dunn and Rios with him. Maybe we could get some players worth something and with a little more emotion for the game - like A.J.!!!! It's good that you're only the 3rd person who agrees with me (there's a thread for the Peavy/AJ thing, BTW), but nobody is going to take Peavy.
  21. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 09:55 PM) Not for $12 million. Do you truly think he'll get that in the offseason from some team?
  22. If you were playing pick-up baseball and were a captain, and had 1 more pick and only Campana and Pierre were left, who would you pick? Sadly enough, I'd take Campana.
  23. Depending on if the Sox are still going for it next year, does anyone else feel like adding Fukudome would be a nice pick-up in the offseason? I'd love his .400 OBP as the lead-off hitter.
