Tony Romo is not a franchise QB. Sorry. Cutler isn't there yet, but he's well on his way.
-
Schlereth said the Bears lost both OT's so that won't make Cutler happy. Ummm...what?
-
I wanted Pace all along. He's a nice addition and CW will slide over to RT so Pace can play LT.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 2, 2009 -> 06:22 PM) Already ordered my authentic #6 Cutler jersey. Let's hope he doesn't decide to take # 5 or something.... #3, #5, and #7 are all retired.

Cutler is a Cubs fan.

Best day in Bears history since we went Shuffling...

Mr Angelo, please trade for Jay Cutler!

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 10:42 PM) So we'd have a franchise QB with no wideouts, o-line and a s***ty defense. Football ain't like baseball or even basketball. You build your team through the draft. Hard to do that when you have no picks. Name me 3 QB's who have either been bad/medicore/whatever that have won a Super Bowl in the last 13. I'm counting Eli Manning as "good". Try me. You build your team around franchise QB's. We build our WR's, OL, and D with this upcoming draft and through next year's FA and draft. -

What is everyone willing to give up for Cutler? I'd give up Orton, our 1st and 3rd this year, and a conditional pick next year depending on his performance (either a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd). -

STL has 7 shots after 2 periods right now. Being up 2-0 with a period to go at the UC- I'll take my chances. -

QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 31, 2009 -> 08:45 PM) The offense isn't really in that horrible of shape, get a league-average O-line and something resembling a serviceable WR corps to help Orton out and it could be "ok." It has Matt Forte, Greg Olsen, Desmond Clark, the other TE whose name I forget but I like, and if there is a bona fide WR to play alongside him, Devin Hester. He seems to be putting a lot of eggs in Chris Williams's basket though. Which, if his back is actually fine, could be fine, but he's pulling another Kenny Williams doing this. I think Hester can be one helluva WR. In his first 2 years as a WR, he has more TD receptions and receptions then Steve Smith's first 2 years. I'm not comparing the 2 but there's potential on Hester's part. Give him a nice possession WR (Nicks in round 2, Britt in round 2, Robiskie in round 2) and I think he can be a true #1. The TE's name you're looking for is Kellen Davis out of MSU. -

The Bears try to keep their team together. It doesn't seem like they spend because there's never too many new guys. It's because guys like Harris, Vasher, Tillman, Clark, Hester, and Urlacher are getting extensions. -

QUOTE (rangercal @ Mar 31, 2009 -> 08:41 PM) Does Cutler have a say where he goes? Because I can see him pouting in a trade to Detroit. I could also see Denver trading him specifically to Detroit just to spite him. Somewhere I read "he'd OK a trade to us or TEN" so I'm not sure. -

Detroit would give up a 1st and a 3rd, and still have a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. They'd probably take Jason Smith then with the 1st overall pick. Cherilus had a solid rookie year at RT so Smith and him on the corners would make it awfully tough to hit Cutler. Give them Duke Robinson with their 2nd and their OL becomes scary. -

QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 31, 2009 -> 08:28 PM) I'm not an Angelo apologist and I won't make excuses for him because he appears to be completely clueless about how to put together an O-line, but it's not like the guy had a complete track record of cluelessness. He's put together a decent resume. Sure, there's holes in it, but he has accomplished some things since he's been here. He's had major busts (Okwo, Bazuin) but he's had good players (Forte, Hester), too. People act like the almighty Steelers have perfect draft after perfect draft, and they haven't. Just take 1 example, Willie Reid. Picked as a WR in the 3rd round out of FSU to the Steelers in 2006, and now isn't even on a team and hasn't been since late August. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 31, 2009 -> 08:16 PM) I have no idea what that means, but its clear since Adolf was there that tenure is hard to come by at UK. It means that Meeks + Cousins and/or Henry + Patterson is much better then Meeks, Patterson, and that smug jerkoff Gillepsie. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 31, 2009 -> 08:35 PM) The Broncos are now saying they will try to trade Cutler. I'm sure the Bears are interested, but probably won't get him. I think others are better positioned to get him, and I'm sure if he goes somewhere in a deal Angelo can't match, Angelo will still get fired on by most of the faithful. They can gladly have Orton and our 1st. -

The Hawks looked bad, took 6 of 6 points in a 3 game span, and now have been outscored 7-0 in the past 5 periods. This is terrible. -
