Technology catch-all thread
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 10, 2013 -> 02:23 PM) Until apps update to use the new registers of the 64bit architecture, it's mostly future proofing the OS. A lot of people erroneously think the only thing 64bit is for, is accessing > 4GB of memory, which is incorrect. You'll probably see a lot of this argument across the Internet right now from the fan boys/anti-fan boys. The 5s is mostly spec bumps across the device (which was expected), and the fingerprint scanner, which is somewhat cool (IF it's accurate). I've used some of these fingerprint scanners in the past and holy crap they sucked. I still don't know why Apple didn't put 2GB in the 5S. iOS 7 will be more memory intensive than previous iOS versions since the way it does multi-tasking is now different and more complete. But yeah, 64 bit is more than just an increase of the address space. AArch64 has 31 general purpose registers, as opposed to the 8 you get in the A32 architecture. There's probably numerous other optimizations in the architecture that will make it faster as well.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 10, 2013 -> 01:52 PM) Suh fined $100k. Good. They should fine him 500K next time he does something stupid. When the paychecks get less and less, he'll stop acting like an idiot.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 10, 2013 -> 01:52 PM) So 7 touchdowns, 5 of which weren't entirely significant, are outweighed by 2 touchdowns, with one being most significant? Dumbest s*** I've ever read in my life. Yeah it really doesn't make too much sense. It's ESPN's stat, so take that for what it's worth.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 10, 2013 -> 09:40 AM) How does this ESPN QBR work? They have Cutler (4th) ranked ahead of P Manning (5th). I know Cutler had a decent game, but was he really the 4th best QB in Week 1? QBR is based on when you score your TDs. So since Cutler threw a pretty clutch TD to Marshall, he gets more credit for that than Manning's TDs, most of which were just adding on to their big lead. A lot of people don't like QBR (stat heads included).

Apple's new A7 chip is impressive. They beat out everyone else to make a 64 bit ARM chip.

QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Sep 10, 2013 -> 09:26 AM) Wladimir Balentien hit his 54th home run of the season in Japan today. He's one away from the single-season record. That pitch was head high, holy crap. I always knew Balentien had a ton of power, he just struck out a ton.

9/9 Game Thread
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 9, 2013 -> 09:59 PM) Among the perceived race of Scherzer, Felix, Sale, and Darvish...... Sale is 1st in IP, 1st in ERA, 1st in BB/9, 1st in K/BB, 2nd in WHIP, 3rd in K/9, 3rd in oppBA, 4th in HR/9 Those are the stats that most baseball writers will look at, unfortunately they will also look at Wins, which he ranks last of those 4 in, and has an 11-12 record, which some writers may completely dismiss his vote because of. As far as Sabermetric numbers go, he looks much less favorable. It's Scherzer or Felix's award to lose really. Both of those guys are a win ahead of Sale in WAR and they don't have losing records.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 9, 2013 -> 12:10 AM) Except for that whole "kill Jesse" thing at the end. But yeah, I get what your saying. Well that was a complete misunderstanding on Jesse's part. Even when Walt wanted him dead, he didn't want to make Jesse suffer.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 8, 2013 -> 09:08 PM) Todd's uncle and his gang must have gone to the Harry Dunn school of sharpshooting. "Harry, you're alive! And you're a horrible shot!" Hank and Gomez did too, apparently. I don't know about anyone else, but I felt really bad for Walt when they finally got him. Jesse basically ratted him out even though Walt really did care about him.

David Wilson gets benched already...good thing the guy I'm playing had him. I was up 20 going up against Romo, Bryant, and Wilson. I had DeMarco Murray. Murray almost had more points than all 3 combined and I've pretty much won.

QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 8, 2013 -> 06:54 PM) Like chili said, fumbled early and didn't come back. Rotoworld seems to think Ridley is a cooked goose Spiller might be next. He only got 60% of the carries and Jackson was much better.
