  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:05 PM) Putz in. With a 4 run lead...
  2. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:04 PM) Rios is having possibly the worst night you can have offensively without recording a strikeout. Yeah, Alex hasn't been his old self for a while now. He's kept the average up, but the power has been bad.
  3. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:03 PM) Meh. I've kind of soured on trading with the Nationals. Anyone who honestly thinks 2 months of Adam Dunn is worth Gordon Beckham is nutters. I'd rather get a lesser bat and a pitcher anyway. The Twins thought two months of Matt Capps was worth Wilson Ramos. That's almost worse.
  4. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:01 PM) Good. Yes it is. Although if we planned to trade Flowers to the Nationals, they probably won't take him now. Nice going Omar.
  5. Capps has no cheap option for next year. This deal sucks for the Twins. It wasn't their biggest need and they probably just gave away their best trade chip that they were willing to move.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 08:54 PM) Wilson Ramos for Capps, it's official now. Capps will be there next year, I think he has an option. Still, not diggin' this from a Twins' point of view. But I like it when I don't dig things the Twins do.
  7. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 08:54 PM) Either gameday crapped out or he Borchard'd it. It was a good 390 feet.
  8. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 08:11 PM) I like as the popularity of UZR grows the sample size necessary to use it as an accurate measure of a player's defensive value has shrunk. At one point it was 3 years in order to remove any anomalies now it's down to 300 innings. It is fair to say that Omar hasn't been incredibly good over at 3B. I think it might be our perception that he's really good since Teahen sucked so much and we had to live through Fields and Betemit last year. It's not discredit to Omar's ability as a fielder though.
  9. Haha, Freddy got him on a huge hanger.
  10. Need more people.
  11. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 05:09 PM) http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/07/whit..._medium=twitter Disappointment. I woulda liked Hawpe a couple of years ago. Now? No way.
  12. QUOTE (TomPickle @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 05:54 PM) Well it doesn't hurt to have a great defense behind you. With the Padres and the Rays this year, I don't think you need any further evidence to see that FIP is a pretty reliable stat.
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 06:10 PM) Wow, I didn't realize Price's FIP/xFIP had shot up to 3.71 and 4.16. His FIP was always around that mark.
  14. You should listen to Dan Bernstein read this James story. It's pretty good. Listen to hour 2: http://wscr.cbslocal.com/2010/07/28/boers-...n-full-show-17/
  15. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 06:25 PM) It is a positive. There will always be people who argue anything you say. If he was 0-22 and you didn't recommended him . There would be those who say " Get him he's due. " Just like limited sample sizes with how you hit with the bases loaded or 2 outs RISP , you just feel better about it when it's really good as opposed to really bad. It's not a bad thing to be good against a certain team. But that shouldn't be a reason why you make a move.
  16. QUOTE (TomPickle @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 06:24 PM) He's never on base so he doesn't clog the bases. He also helps clear the bases of base cloggers by hitting into plenty of double plays. Don't give the anti-Thome people anything to use.
  17. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 06:11 PM) This seems like an entirely different situation. Thome was let go because Ozzie didn't want him clogging the bases the times he didn't strike out or homer. I think the poster is simply stating that Luke Scott mashing Twins' pitching can only be seen as a positive. In no way can it be a bad thing. Nobody advocates signing Scott purely based on this either. Mark Kotsay = slow, can't run, can't hit. So why does it even matter?
  18. QUOTE (OilCan @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 05:59 PM) Heard on 104.9 The Horn in Austin TX: Houston Chronicle writer Richard Justice said that the best bet for Lance is to be traded to the Rangers to fill in the 1b hole now that Justin Smoak was traded earlier this month. You can also read Justice' s blog @ http://blogs.chron.com/sportsjustice/ It makes sense. The Rangers have a hole in 1b and if Lance is traded to the Rangers, it would keep him in Texas which he was born in New Braunfels (Between Austin and San Antonio), went to Rice U in Houston and was drafted by the hometown 'Stros. So what was the point of getting Cantu then...?
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 05:52 PM) Other than Price, the Rays rotation has come back to earth after their ridiculous run through May. They're still pretty damn good, though. David Price is no FIP master either. The Rays have to have one of the most overachieving rotations this year.
  20. QUOTE (TomPickle @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 05:48 PM) Lol thanks. Yeah, if I were the Rays I'd be giving the Nationals a hard sell on Jeff Niemann about how much of a winner he is. Wow, when did Niemann's FIP climb two runs?
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 05:06 PM) If the Rays are in the derby then it's curtains for us. But having a strong farm doesn't matter. We won a title in 2005. Hellickson got pulled from his start today. I would laugh my ass off if Dunn gets traded for Hellickson.
