White Sox Acquire Edwin Jackson
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:46 AM) Wow, I just noticed that BR is now liking to brooks baseball's pitch f/x tool in player game logs now. I went into Jackson's game log to find his last outing so I could check his velocity on brooks (95/97), I happened to click his pitch count and it took me to his pitch f/x data for that game. Thanks, BR for saving me 40 valuable seconds. Not a bad tool. I like to use TexasLeaguers.

White Sox Acquire Edwin Jackson
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:38 AM) Gotcha. If we do trade for him then thats a good sign, but I still would not be a very big fan of the move. I'm definitely not a fan of it either. I think you could have Jackson for much less. Hell, if you want to trade Hudson for another pitcher, go get Carmona.

White Sox Acquire Edwin Jackson
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:33 AM) I'm not really sure what those stats mean, but I hope they translate to: "Edwin Jackson sucks". Cause thats the truth. It translates to "Edwin Jackson is better than his current ERA".

The Wave Sucks
The wave just makes you feel like the people at the game aren't giving two s***s. Seattle had just scored off J.J. Putz. What do I see? A f***ing wave. Nice to know you're interested in the game people.

White Sox Acquire Edwin Jackson
No way in hell should we do this deal today. Let Hudson pitch. If we do the trade now, it'd be like throwing a game away.

White Sox Acquire Edwin Jackson
The good thing about Jackson this year is that he's given up only 31.5% fly balls. Half of his batted balls are on the ground. With our left side of the infield, that is a big plus.

White Sox Acquire Edwin Jackson
Edwin Jackson's FIP: 4.27 Edwin Jackson's xFIP: 4.27 Edwin Jackson's projected RoS FIP: 4.16 Edwin Jackson's projected RoS ERA: 3.97 I'll take it. Although I'd much rather give up Santos. If Hudson is in the deal, we better be getting LaRoche too.

Bad day for Alex.

QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:38 PM) Threets has been really good. Anybody besides Randy Williams can be considered good. There's been two guys on this team that are so bad that their replacements, no matter how bad they are, are much, much better. Those two are Kotsay and Randy Williams. Because you can't be much worse.

Twins get Matt Capps
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:31 PM) I like it. Matt Capps is solid, but I'm definitely not scared of him. Twins give up a top catching prospect that they will need when Mauer becomes a 1B/DH. It doesnt affect 2010 that much and really hurts the Twins in the future. Two thumbs up. If anything, Mauer will play 3B or the OF. He's too athletic for 1B. Plus, Morneau's there until 2014.

Twins get Matt Capps
BTW, Capps is eligible for arbitration next year. Won't be cheap, but he is retainable.
-
Mariners (Pauley 0-2, 2.18) @ White Sox (Garcia 9-4, 4.74)
Felix told me this - Capps arb eligible next year. So it's not that bad of a deal for the Twins. Still kinda bad though.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:22 PM) First runs since May 7th...almost 1/2 of a season. Pretty amazing run for Putz, not unlike Linebrink in 08 and Hermanson/Politte/Cotts in 05. Don't jinx him.

Twins get Matt Capps
QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:19 PM) Not sure I'd call Wilson Ramos their best prospect, 3rd or 4th best perhaps, plus he doesn't have a position with Mauer locked up at C and I don't think his bat will play that well at 1B/DH. Yeah, he's definitely not their best anymore. Last year maybe. Hicks and Gibson are definitely ahead of him.

Lance Berkman traded to Yankees
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:20 PM) The only problem with Vizquel's defense is that his arm is a noodle at this point in his career. Otherwise, he has been very good, but not great. Yeah, he hasn't been great. I'd say he's been decent over there, I'm not going to totally believe what UZR says with a small sample size.

There's the splitter. That was nasty.

God damn it.

Mariners (Pauley 0-2, 2.18) @ White Sox (Garcia 9-4, 4.74)
So we go from a semi-blowout to a potential close game. Ugh.

Mariners (Pauley 0-2, 2.18) @ White Sox (Garcia 9-4, 4.74)
QUOTE (dielac @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:16 PM) Why were they playing him so close to the line? Ichiro put a ball right on the line last night.

It was nice to know you 27 inning scoreless streak.

QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:09 PM) Pena is probably being saved in case Huddy gets hit hard early tomorrow. Not a bad idea I guess.

Mariners (Pauley 0-2, 2.18) @ White Sox (Garcia 9-4, 4.74)
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:07 PM) I'd rather save the better guys for Hudson's start tomorrow. They'll likely be needed. Exactly. I would have liked to see Pena in this inning. Linebrink in the next and Santos finishing it up. If there is a way to save Putz, Thornton, and especially Jenks from work, you do it.

Mariners (Pauley 0-2, 2.18) @ White Sox (Garcia 9-4, 4.74)
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:06 PM) With the bottom of the order and a 4 run lead I wouldn't mind seeing Liney get the 8th and 9th hitters. Today's not the day to waste your bullpen.
