Angels Open to Trades
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 03:08 PM) Didn't look at the number but Abreu just might be Carlos Quentin BAD defensively, he's like Dye out there. Not even close. I said it before, having Abreu out there instead of Quentin should result in a 1 win share difference. Quentin's badness in RF is indescribable.

Lance Berkman traded to Yankees
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:55 PM) Like the Blum move? Blum didn't take playing time away from a decent player. He was a utility guy.

Lance Berkman traded to Yankees
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:52 PM) Classic case of making a move just to make a move. The sad part is that you know Tejada will take time away from Jerry Hairston, who has a .291 wOBA while playing some great defense (7.1 UZR). All of this results in a 1.7 WAR. Tejada has a .296 wOBA, plays bad defense at 3B, and has a negative WAR. You see who this makes zero sense, none? If I'm a Padres fan, I would be really mad.

Phillies to get Oswalt for 3 players
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:48 PM) Check his sb %age. 76/96, I know.

Lance Berkman traded to Yankees
What was the point of getting Tejada for the Padres? He can't play SS anymore, his declining power is going to decline even more in San Diego. I don't get it.

Phillies to get Oswalt for 3 players
Gose stole 76 bases last year with a .323 OBP and a ground ball% around 60%. Remind you of somebody on the White Sox? Hint, his initials are JP.

Lance Berkman traded to Yankees
All I know is that whoever ends up with Tejada is going to be disappointed.

2010 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) Ian Kinsler to the DL. I really like Kinsler, but he's hurt way too much.

Phillies to get Oswalt for 3 players
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:18 PM) Yeah, but tossing in $11 million to do it...uck. Definitely wasn't a smart move, but they might have just picked up a potential impact bat along with a good middle of the rotation starter that are under control for at least 4 more years.

Lance Berkman traded to Yankees
If we get Berkman, Kotsay really shouldn't be on this team. Lillibridge has way more versatility and Berkman takes over everything that Kotsay was doing (playing 1B and DHing on most nights).

Bobby Jenks
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:07 PM) Hopefully last night the Phillies were watching and are now committed to trading us Jayson Werth straight up for Bobby Jenks! We can dream right? Werth would be the perfect fit for this team. It'd mean a full time DH in Quentin with a plus outfielder in right with a great bat. Who also hits in the postseason.

Lance Berkman traded to Yankees
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:23 PM) Not sure that Morel makes sense for the Houston with Wallace and Johnson manning the CI positions unless they see him as a fit at 2B. Houston needs pitching so maybe a package of Santeliz and Holmberg for Berkman and $2M to pay his buy-out at the end of the season. We're not getting any money in a deal for Berkman if that's all we're going to offer.

Lance Berkman traded to Yankees
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:19 PM) He basically asked the 'Stros to trade him earlier this season. But does he want to play here? I heard he'd only accept a trade to the Rangers earlier in the year.

Lance Berkman traded to Yankees
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:18 PM) Assuming that Kotsay actually lost his at bats. Even Ozzie knows that Berkman >>>>>>>> Kotsay. Plus, Berkman does everything Kotsay does, but better. Lance Berkman's actually pretty good over at 1B.

Lance Berkman traded to Yankees
Berkman has a no trade clause. Would he WANT to play here?

Phillies to get Oswalt for 3 players
In the end, I think the Astros did alright in the Oswalt deal. Wallace + Happ isn't half bad.

Lance Berkman traded to Yankees
QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:11 PM) ZiPS projects a .383 wOBA the rest of the way for him, I'll take it. Yup, same here. He has a wOBA of .356 right now, which would be like a 15 wRAA upgrade over Kotsay.

Lance Berkman traded to Yankees
Berkman's brought his numbers back up to respectability. I would definitely take him for the right price. We'll have to pick up a lot of salary, but right now, our prospects are a lot more important than our finances.

Lance Berkman traded to Yankees
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:03 PM) With Brett Wallace just being traded to the Astros for Anthony Gose, I think that this may mean Lance Berkman gets moved by the deadline. Wallace would become the heir to Berkman. I would think Berkman would come cheaper than Dunn. So maybe Hudson + Torres or some other non top-prospect? I'm not sure that's a great deal for Toronto. Well, looks like the deal looks a little better for the Astros now. Wallace and Happ for Oswalt seems kinda worth it.

White Sox Trade Catch-All
QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 03:31 PM) With buster reporting We lost interest in Dunn (as I literally watched him hit his 24th HR on MLB network), the more it looks like we may have to settle on a lesser bat like the before mentioned Branyan. By the way his line you asked for: G AB R H 2B 3B 52 171 24 45 9 0 HR RBI TB OBP SLG AVG 10 24 84 .328 .491 .263 BB SO SB CS 16 49 0 0 eww. Get your Dunn KW You do realize that our full-time DH, Mark Kotsay, has a .305 OBP and a .350 slugging percentage right? I'll take Branyan's .820 OPS in heartbeat if we can't get anything better.

Attendance Poll
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:00 PM) too much depends on the weather to make a guess, but those 7 games against NYY and Red Sox are going to help a ton. How many against Minny left? 6 more.

NBA Offseason Thread

2010 AL Central Catch-All
We can put the Tigers way back in the rearview mirror with a win today. Once you start falling 6-7 games out by the trade deadline, you're probably not going to win the division.
