Sox vs Cubs 6-25 game thread 3:05 first pitch
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 03:20 PM) Nice single by Paulie. Do you agree Paulie's homer yesterday was one of the most impressive blasts of his career? It was a bomb. Ozzie threw up his hands in the dugout. It was a high arching cannon blast. He's had better...

Don't be surprised the Sox are in the race
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 01:42 PM) From the FanGraphs comment section: That guy is definitely bitter about something... But yeah, FanGraphs hates us. And the Mariners were totally dependent on guys like Milton Bradley. When you have to put your entire offense on that guy, you can expect the worst.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 11:57 AM) AJ is seriously one of the dumbest hitters I have ever watched play baseball. I'd take him over Kotsay at this point though.

Why can't A.J. hit 6th?

It's too bad, because this was probably Drogba's last World Cup. He's already 32.

NBA Offseason Thread
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 10:32 AM) So, might as well go crazy here, let's assume Lebron and Bosh are coming here. What does that mean? We talking instant championship contender? A year or two to gel? Will we be able to compete with an aging Boston, or Orlando? What about the Suns/Lakers? On paper I think we'd clearly be the best, but you gotta see how they all play together (and where Paul might end up). And what does this do for Rose's career? Is he going to become overshadowed and lose out on all star selections? Or will this propel him further by taking a lot of the pressure of him to carry the team? Dude, if LeBron and Bosh land here, this is easily the best team in the NBA... Believe it or not, but Wins Above Replacement doesn't just apply in baseball, APBRmetrics has something similar. Last year, LeBron was worth 26 wins. Yes, 26. To give you an idea of how good that is, Rose was worth only 5 wins. So was Joe Johnson.

This is too much for me. I told a friend of mine about this yesterday, he doesn't even like basketball, and he got really excited. If it doesn't happen, it'd be like a kick in the gut.

Time For a New Leadoff Hitter
Rios can't leadoff when he is your second best offensive player. If you want somebody to leadoff, it should be Vizquel, he has a decent OBP right now. Pierre should be hitting 9th.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 05:48 PM) Is Castro a misprint? I'm assuming yes since he's getting paid $1 million this year.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 05:46 PM) As much as everyone loves Adrian, he's still underrated IMO. If the year ended now, he'd be the NL leader in WAR. So technically, he has been the most valuable position player in the NL thus far.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 05:10 PM) My question would be: what does a player's RBI total tell you at the end of the year? In a way, it tells you a little bit about the player's ability, because you don't see everybody driving in 100 runs. However, most of it is about who hits around you. Adrian Gonzalez getting only 100 RBI a year doesn't mean he's nowhere near as good as Ryan Howard.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 05:07 PM) I agree about wins and loses. RBI is still important, though flawed and overrated (Ryan Howard). The problem I have with RBI is some people try to use it when comparing player A to player B. OMG it pisses me off.

Over .500 and within 5 games by the end of the month!
So yeah, I think 5-1 is now a realistic homestand.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 04:50 PM) You know what looked hideous to me? Scott Feldman's 17-8 record last year. More wins than Greinke, Garza, Kershaw and Gallardo. That was the most grotesque thing I've seen in a while. Scott Failedman? Wins and losses should be abolished, much like runs batted in.

If you were the Twins, what would you trade for Lee?
Yeah, I'd also like to trade Albert Pujols for Dan Uggla. If you don't mind... The funny thing is, the Marlins probably wouldn't make that deal. Too much money.
