Looks like the Tigers are going to win this.

Ozzie, Gardenhire, or Leyland?
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 02:04 PM) Leyland panicked down the stretch last year and it cost the Tigers. Gardenhire has never been the favorite in a pennant race, no one knows how he'll react. How did Leyland panic? Did he panic in 06? You guys are putting a bit too much into how these guys do during playoff games and games in September.

Shin-Soo Choo is out till September. Why the hell did we have to play the Indians so much early in the year?

Ozzie, Gardenhire, or Leyland?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 01:59 PM) All managers are bad at something. I'd take the guy with the team with the best talent. Players win games. That said, Ozzie rocks. No, but these three are all really bad at something, not just bad.

7/5 - LAAoA @ Chicago
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 01:57 PM) Uh, AJ is playing because he's our regular, everyday catcher. Seems simple to me. He's also been bad and a lefty is pitching.

Okay, Patterson is terrible.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 01:35 PM) This Tigers-Orioles game is hilarious. It's like a 16-inch softball game, lots of scoring. And how is Corey Patterson still playing baseball? Dude is awful no matter what his stats show. He does have a 10 game hit streak now.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 01:41 PM) oh god, why do we have to be tortured with Andruw Jones starting??? Lets see if he can top his outing on saturday night where he looked like a fool and K'd his first two AB's, and then when he decides to make contact, ground into a DP. Andruw Jones needs to be DFA!!!!! Great news, Jones is 1-9 against Kazmir.

Ha, it was that close to being 10-7.

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 12:44 PM) The most important skill to have as a hitter is getting on base. Dejesus' OBP is .398 this year. His career OBP is .361 Career OBP: Pierre .346 Rios .333 Konerko .354 Quentin .346 Ramirez .323 Beckham .317 Kotsay .336 Jones .337 AJ .324 Teahen .331 And that says nothing about the fact that he's an above average outfielder and collects a lot of extra base hits. His power numbers will also increase here in Chicago.

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 01:37 PM) Quentin worth more than the great Tyler Flowers? The guy hitting .219 in AAA??? I'd trade Flowers in a heartbeat but the problem is no other team would be interested in him as the main piece of a deal, even for a 3 month rental bat. Trading Quentin for Dunn doesn't accomplish much as they'd still be a bat short and Dunn would be gone after this year anyway. Plus with Ozzie around, Dunn would be playing way too much at 1B and in the OF which would make the deal a net loss. I would only approve of the deal if Kenny gets somebody like DeJesus.

Wow, both teams are in their bullpens already. Didn't notice that.

Hmm, Rios as a DH. I guess it doesn't hurt too much since he's been really struggling as of late.

Ozzie, Gardenhire, or Leyland?
QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 01:33 PM) eh, while we were successful in 2005, you'd have to watch the games to see that for some reason they were the best managed games ozzie's ever had. That suicide squeeze v. boston, for instance. He did everything right that postseason, but there weren't that many things that had to be done by the manager. The players just performed.

Ozzie, Gardenhire, or Leyland?
QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 01:30 PM) But how many managers would let their pitchers throw complete games. I'm not an Ozzie fan but I give him credit for 2005. However, he managed horribly down the strecth in 2008. Griffey in CF, the four man rotation. Makes me sick just thinking about it. The team had some big leads. Outside of game 5, he really had no hard decisions to make in regards to the starters.

8-7 now. Jake Fox goes deep on one that just kept on carrying.

Tigers back on top. Man, this game might go on for 5 hours.

Ozzie, Gardenhire, or Leyland?
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 01:09 PM) I feel that Ozzie does some great managing in the playoff type situations. He hardly made a false move in 2005, although one could argue that it would have been difficult to make a managerial mistake with that team. However, it does seem that he puts the right lineup out there and tends to use his pitchers more effectively when the season is on the line. Why he doesn't do that on a daily basis is beyond me. That's cause he didn't have many moves to make. When your starting pitchers throw 4 straight complete games, is there anything you have to do?

2010 AL Central Catch-All
If anything will kill the Tigers this year, it's their starting pitching.

2010 AL Central Catch-All
They're already up 5-1. Minnesota goes to Toronto, where they have had nightmares in recent years. We could see a big change in the standings real soon.

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (Real @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 12:20 PM) Dunn doesn't want to DH, he also walks after this year Meanwhile I'm tired of KC players not named Soria or Greinke, DeJesus is overrated by this board Quentin is finally turning it on, let him ride his hotstreak out and see what happens, we have a month until the deadline Quentin for Dunn = No, Prospects for Dunn = Ok Yes, I value Quentin higher than Flowers or Viciedo right now, though I'm sure a lot of you here don't I think Quentin is worth more to the team right now than both Flowers and Dayan.

Ozzie, Gardenhire, or Leyland?
Can I say neither? All three are really bad at something. Ozzie can't make a lineup or use his bullpen right. Gardnehire has similar problems, plus he's not as good as Ozzie off the field. Leyland breaks his pitcher's elbows frequently.
