Joel Zumaya's Elbow Explodes
Maybe Zumaya should pull a Billy Wagner and start throwing left handed.

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 09:29 AM) And if I were the Nats...I wouldn't even think of doing it for any and all of the other guys you list. It's pretty damn clear that they will want Hudson.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 09:24 AM) So I guess he'd get some nice pitches hitting between Rios and Paulie. I think Dunn would probably bat 5th. If Rios starts slumping, Carlos will probably start hitting 3rd.

NBA Offseason Thread
They're really not even a team if one of those guys gets hurt. It'll just be LeBron and Wade playing against 5 other guys.

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 09:16 AM) Didn't Arizona trade for him while in the NL West race in 2008? Yeah and he played about the same way he did when he wasn't in a race with Cincinnati.

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 09:14 AM) Which could account for the decreased walk rate, he's only walked 8 times in the month of June but he's hitting .300, he's been making a conscience effort to put the ball in play more, not sure how long that will last since it's just not his game. I could care less about strikeouts when he's putting up a near .400 wOBA. I don't see much more upside in an infield popup compared to K. With Dunn also comes the shift which means next to no double plays, keep that in mind also. People overvalue the strikeout thing far too much. A strikeout is technically worth -.3 runs according to linear weights. A normal out is -.25 or something. The differences aren't large enough to get all crazy over. This is why people thinking Jim Thome sucked because he struck out too much pissed me off.

Dunn could hit 50 home runs in this park if he played a whole season here.

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 09:06 AM) Is anyone here concerned about Dunn's strike outs and decreasing walk rate? Plus the .276 batting average is the highest of his career. Walking is an old people's skill. More likely than not, that's a result of him putting the ball in play more. The average is going to go down, his BABIP is quite high as of now (.340 something). The thing I worry about with getting all these players who are currently doing well is that they're kind of playing above their career norms. This only means that they'll end up regressing over the course of the season in which they will be on our team. You'd never like to see that. One guy who does not fit that bill is Adam LaRoche, he's historically a second half guy.

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
Knowing Ozzie, he'll end up playing Dunn too much at 1B as part of the rotating DH. Hell, he might even put him in RF. It's as if our current RFer isn't bad enough at defense... After watching last night's game, Dunn is not the only thing this team needs. We have way too many other automatic outs other than Jones/Kotsay.

Joel Zumaya's Elbow Explodes
Watching that GIF of the pitch release was terrifying. His elbow literally bent a bit as he delivered the pitch. Zumaya was great when he was healthy this year, it sucks for Detroit and it sucks for him even more. His career is probably done, at least for the next two years I'd say. Unless he changes his mechanics, this is going to happen again. Throwing 100 across your body won't bode well.

You think we suck against the Twins? The Tigers are 5-17 against the Twins since 2008.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 09:58 PM) Yeah, I'm relatively confident that he's back. Due to this offensive burst, his WAR has gone from -1.3 to -0.5 in about two weeks. I'd like to see it at a positive clip sometime soon.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 09:58 PM) Zumaya just f***ed his arm. Down on the ground and done for the season, is my guess, That guy still hasn't figured out that constantly throwing 100 MPH across your body can't last.

Quentin's wOBA is now at .348. He was at .310 not too long ago.

Hopefully, Rios' correction doesn't result in a huge dip. He's projected to hit with a .354 wOBA and a .801 OPS for the rest of the year. We might see his average dip slightly below .300. Hopefully, it's nothing more than that.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 09:40 PM) The AL is a wonderful beast. It has nothing to do with the AL or the NL. This Royals team probably played the worst baseball I've seen since the Pirates series. They made errors everywhere, gave up outs on bad base running. They sucked. The only problem was that we sucked even more.

White Sox @ Royals 6/28, 7:10, WCIU
That pitch was right down the f***ing middle.

We swing at crap and take the strikes, nice...
-
White Sox @ Royals 6/28, 7:10, WCIU
Of course, a freaking infield fly.

We got a gift there, that was a strike.

Loaded! Uh oh, here's the dreaded Mark Kotsay.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 09:31 PM) Pitching around him to get to AJ? Why wouldn't you? That's another DP waiting to happen.
