6/9 GT: LAD @ Sox 1:10pm (Cease vs. Anderson)
Muncy was probably more pissed about the intentional walk than anyone else. That's a special form of disrespect. The batting average in an AB that goes to 1-2 is .166. Intentionally walking that guy to face the next hitter is basically saying, "I think the guy on deck has less than a 17% chance of getting a hit".

The sad part is that no matter what TLR does, his job is probably secure because JR won't allow him to be fired. It's so sad that we're basically wasting a year of our competitive window.

TLR didn't do his homework.

TLR is so infatuated with matchups that he IBB'd a guy in a 1-2 count to get a "better" matchup and then the better matchup results in a 3 run homer. This is what happens when you become a slave to platoon splits.

He really IBB'd a guy in a 1-2 count? Jesus Christ...

He really hasn't hit for much power since coming back from COVID.

Burger just absolutely punishes mistakes. Hang a breaking pitch to him and it's probably a homer.

The ball from Barnes that he failed to handle was with 1 out. Betts struck out for 2 outs. At that point, the inning is theoretically over so any runs after that aren't earned.

Burger makes up for it...somewhat.

For who? He just struck out Betts on some really good pitches. And the contact off him up to that point wasn't hard. They made a huge mistake with sequencing to Freeman and the inning unraveled after Burger failed to make the 2nd routine play of the inning. Games against great teams like the Dodgers are usually won on the margins, and we made 3 huge mistakes that inning that other good teams simply do not make.

We're gonna try to go for a record of most unearned runs in an inning, aren't we?

Burger's bat is nice to have, but he's really just a DH on a good team. No contender should have him playing 3B full time. The defense is just too shaky.

They gave him the same pitch twice on back to back pitches. He's way too good of a hitter to try to sneak back to back 75 MPH change ups by.

Give the Dodgers 5 outs and this is what happens.

That lead didn't last long...

None of these runs are earned.

Burger showing that he's not a good defensive 3B once again. He waited back on that when Turner is extremely fast.

Burger is not good defensively at 3B. I can't imagine just how bad he'd be at 2B.

As good as that change is for a pitch he barely throws, he needs to mix that in, not give guys looks at it on back to back pitches. Just some stupid pitch calling.
-
6/9 GT: LAD @ Sox 1:10pm (Cease vs. Anderson)
Why would you throw him back to back change ups?

Very nice pitches to Betts.

It all started with an excuse me swing single from Bellinger.

Inning should be over...ugh.

If we win today, then yeah, we would survive this rough 9 game stretch. I think I said a 1.5 weeks ago that if we're still within 6 games of the Twins after this, we'll win the division. We still have a stretch against the Jays and Astros coming up after the Rangers and Detroit.

That ball went back towards Bellinger. Unfortunate.
