  1. I don't disagree. It's why I can see a lot of teams offering him shorter deals to have him prove himself again so he can hit the market and get a bigger deal.
  2. Because players who have a bad season at 29 never bounce back again, ever. I know it might seem weird to give a player coming off a 0.8 WAR season a large contract, but Conforto's track record is far better than the results he posted in 2021.
  3. He's not that bad. He was a 3-4 WAR player every season from 2017-2020 and he's only 29. The 2.5 WAR he's projected for is totally fair, but I think he has bounce back potential to being a 4 WAR player again.
  4. The shoulder thing probably explains why Engel struggled at the plate in the 2nd half of the season. First half Engel was surprisingly good last year.
  5. Because if Story doesn't sign long-term, it's hard to tell a franchise player like Anderson or Bogaerts to move positions for a guy who's gonna be there short-term.
  6. The narrative for Story before was that he wouldn't switch positions and turned down 9 figure deals to play 2B. The 2 teams Heyman just listed are both teams that he'd have to switch positions for. Bogaerts has been adamant he isn't moving to 2B and the Giants have Crawford.
  7. WHO ARE THE 2 OTHERS JON? I hate when he does this shit. Twins are probably involved. Story makes way more sense for them than Conforto.
  8. I feel like his floor is average, but you never know how a guy who just turned 35 will age. OAA absolutely loved his defense last year, FWIW.
  9. We know the Rockies and Giants checked in and looked elsewhere. The Rockies decided to spend a lot more and the Giants decided to spend a lot less.
  10. Also, I have my doubts that Adams would be anywhere near as good without Rodgers as his QB. Those back shoulder throws that he and Rodgers are so good at takes time and chemistry to develop.
  11. Miller is also 2 years younger. I can see the FO thinking he's barely played 2B recently and being reluctant to give him a full-time job there. Yes, he can play there, but Philly used him more as a 1B and corner OFer. He's only played about 300 innings at 2B in the past 4 seasons. Harrison is definitely a better option there defensively as well. Miller just fits the offense MUCH better. He had a .842 OPS against righties last year. Harrison was around .700.
  12. I can see why we signed Harrison now Edit: this is over 2 years and not 1.
  13. How big of a fail would it be if we let the Twins get Conforto on a reasonable deal?
  14. Charger fans seemed to think he was good. PFF grade wasn't great, but not any worse than Ogunjobi (PFF hated Ogunjobi).
  15. Looks like Merk is preparing Sox fans to live with Kimbrel being on the team
  16. That was quick
  17. I thought they'd get ML ready pitching for Voit honestly. Lange has a big arm, but very little control.
  18. Boston is gonna end up with him cause he has very few suitors at this point.
  19. I'm guessing it's for pitching
  20. Sounds like Boras is leaking all this to drum up more interest.
  21. Yeah they'll be pretty loaded. But even with Castellanos, they'll be running out some ? in CF, SS, and 3B. Which is kind of where our lineup is right now (our 3 ?s are at different positions though).
  22. Boston is the best bet. San Diego has no money right now until they get rid of Hosmer and Myers.
