  1. I've always thought the Sox have been behind the times in terms of sabermetrics. I thought we had made some progress last year, but now we're back in the stone age in terms of shifting and sac bunts.
  2. No she passed away in 2014. One of her daughters works at the park still, IIRC.
  3. Yup that's a completely different scenario. In a situation with less than 2 outs, the runner can score regardless if the runner at 1st reaches or not. But with 2 outs, the runner must beat the force play at 1st for the run to score.
  4. Not to mention he just got an off day yesterday.
  5. He's gonna be out 3 to 7 games according to Fegan.
  6. No I believe if Baez is out before he touches first, there is no run at home.
  7. Tim being out again certainly isn't good news.
  8. If you watch the Jomboy video on it, it's pretty clear Javy didn't know the rules either. He's still signaling safe that the runner scored at home when that won't matter if he gets tagged out or thrown out at 1st. If the 2nd baseman was actually at 1st instead of watching the disaster unravel, the run wouldn't have scored.
  9. It's the same logic as running out of the base path really. You're really delaying the inevitable or trying to run away from the play. But this play is completely on the Pirates. It's 2 outs, all you had to do was step on 1st. The runner doesn't even score if you get the force out.
  10. All this talk about not enough offense and moving the mound back...but the easiest solution really is to make sure guys don't get crazy spin rates from whatever foreign substance they're using.
  11. They're gonna play 2 double headers in the span of 3 days then. That's gonna suck.
  12. We only sac bunted once last year?
  13. The average wOBA is like .307. It you're even close to a halfway decent hitter right now, your wRC+ is gonna be higher than 110.
  14. Jose has a 132 wRC+ and his xwOBA is right in line with last season. As bad as he has been at times, his overall numbers are just fine.
  15. Kopech. That's really good news. I doubt it'll be a serious injury, but I don't think he'll start in that double header against Cleveland next Monday.
  16. Yup, his 2 strike approach is actually being used against him right now. Cause he saps any power potential when he uses that approach.
  17. Kind of like that thread saying we had the makings of a juggernaut the day before Robert got hurt. I'm all for praising players for doing well, but let's pump the brakes a bit. It's May.
  18. We are just pitiful during day games aren't we?
  19. Madrigal is on right now.
  20. For real. Everyone was so happy to see him get a burger named after him. And now that he's scuffling a bit, people are calling for him to get DFA'd. It's insane.
  21. Holy shit Reyes really does walk a guy an inning.
  22. More like limped off on his own.
  23. Ruiz is gonna pitch this into a blowout.
  24. That's the ballgame.
  25. Ruiz against the middle of the order is no bueno.
