You make the point that has been running through my mind - thank you - every time someone says "I don't care if he hits 2409 if he fields so well" I think of how Royce Claytion got bashed. We will never be happy with a player who hits 240 or 250 no matter what. And we have a lot of experience with disliking players who hit 240 and 250. Frank can hit 30 homers and hit 250 and get booed. Thanks for pointing out what you did. There's a world of difference between a guy who hits a consistent .240 and a guy who hits .100 for the first 2 months of the season and then hits .300 for the last 2. Frank get's booed for hitting .240/.250 because he's Frank f***ing Thomas... We're so spoiled seeing him as the best right handed hitter ever we don't like it when he's recouperating from injury. That and he's not a fan favorite. Aside from Alex Rodriguez, I have no problem with a shortstop hitting in the .250s with limited gap power as long as he can play D. In a lineup that looks to be as stacked as ours, its OK to carry a little dead weight. That said, I prefer Valentin, who can at least hit and play adequate defense (and is a clubhouse plus) as opposed to Royce Clayton who's got to be the most overrated defender I've ever seen and can't use the bat at all.

Tejada's MLVr was .193 (not bad.. comparable to Konerko) last year, compared to the .056 in '00. .055 in '01, and the .094 he's projected to have this year according to Silver's PECOTA.... Not worth the money he'll be asking for.

We could, of course, bring up the Revolutionary War again. But since there's no use in beating that dead horse again, we won't.
-
Nah, you get used to it.

Fatigue, or playing like s***, you decide. Apparently doublem(oron) knows more than all the espn folks who follow this stuff like it's their job...oh wait it is...if you think you are proving some great point, you aren't, as we all know you aren't above espn, though you seem to think you are. Now that's hilarious Dude... Half the posters here are more intelligent than ESPN writers.

But we're going to have so much oil after the Iraq War that drilling in BC won't be necessary What? You can't drill in two places at once?
-
I reckon you play to win, not put butts in the seats. But maybe that's just me.
-
If he doesn't want to pitch... No way. It's a shame, too... If he could only hit .250 with just a little gap power, I'd be all for having him up here.

Guns and violence are just as prevelant in America as anywhere else. Maybe we should go kill all the American babies, too.
-
Holy f***ing s*** you're a god damn moron, boy. Apparently you'd slit their throat in 30 seconds, too, so you're just as miserable a waste of human life as you think they are.
-
Drilling oil is harmful to the environment no matter what you do. That, and its time to find an alternative to fossil fuels before we kill the planet.

The Sox are a very bottom-heavy organization right now, so I would expect the Knights to blow.

Washburn not any more and Piniero.. Well, we'll see.

I third it... Here's hoping everyone comes home safely.

Baseball Cancells the Opening Day Series In Japan

Fishmongers used to be pimps (or, something like them), in the Olde days. -
Korea, too. Although the UN doesn't officially recognize that as a war; it's still just a police action.

For his skills, Magglio Ordonez is by far the most underrated player in baseball. Last year he had one of the Top 5 seasons (offensively) in the Majors, but he doesn't have half the name recognition as other guys who have half the skills he does... At other positions... I'd have to say... C) A.J. Pierzynski 1B) Derrek Lee 2B) Adam Kennedy/Junior Spivey 3B) Mike Lowell SS) Aaron Boone (until last year)... Now either Jose Valentin or Carlos Guillen OF) Magglio Ordonez, Pat Burrell, and Jacque Jones P) Roy Oswalt (until last year, but still kind of), Roy Halladay, Hideo Nomo (yes), Matt Clement, Brian Lawrence, Octavio Dotel, Tim Wakefield, Keith Foulke

A.J. Pierzynski

A lot of MLB closers were groomed as starters in the minors. It's probably benefitial to start in the minor leagues so you get more innings.
-
Yeah... He's been out of options since his last call-up, hasn't he?

While I didn't pick them, I wouldn't be shocked to see Notre Dame make a run to the Sweet Sixteen or Elite 8... The reason they slip recently is more than likely fatique, as their sparkplug Chris Thomas is only a sophomore. They've had a week off. I don't know, but they could. Of course, don't tell Koch that... LOL... ESPN. I can't get over it.

LOL... You just proved how much you know... ESPN... Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Damn oil companies.

Josh Paul f***ing sucks. I don't understand the organization's fascination with him. He's not a good hitter, is a moron on the bases (which negates all that speed), and he's absolutely HORRID behind the plate. There's no upside to keeping Josh around except for the fact that if we put him on waivers and someone else claims him, we're even thinner at catcher. Damn you, Williams. WHY THE f*** WOULD YOU TRADE MARK JOHNSON!?!?

Arizona lost their first game in the Pac-10, are you gonna argue they don't deserve that #1? Probably better that ND does lose because it gives them a week or so to rest instead of getting beat up. You're school spirit is admirable, but in the light of facts... It just doesn't hold up. Illinois is NOT that good.
