  1. umm i do..why?? "f*** you Ms. Cheney! f*** you Tipper Gore!" yup..brilliant When added to the context of that whole song, it's really, really good.
  2. Not even worrying about the rest of the world, most expert estimate that around 30% of Americans are dealing with poverty. And without checking the stats, I think the U.S. has the highest rates of child and overall poverty for any industrialized nations... If it's not at the top of both categories, we're up there. I'm not arguing that there aren't people in America who struggle financially. Nor am I arguing that they don't need any help. I will tell you though that Americans have almost no concept of poverty at all when compared to the poor in other, less capitalist nations. The web site you quote lists the poverty rate for a family of four at $30,000 a year. How may of those families have TVs and VCRs? How many families in North Korea, Afghanistan, or Ethiopia would love to make that much money. If you want to challenge me then I dare you to look up the median incomes for any of those countries and post them here, then tell me I'm wrong. I'm not gonna argue with you. US$18,000 a year, the government's poverty line, is still ridiculously wealthy in many, many countries. However, the fact that nearly 1/3 of the population in the world's wealthiest country struggle to make ends meet just might shed some light on why people don't like us. I haven't talked to everyone in the world, so I really don't know the exact numbers, but I'm willing to bet a lot more people don't like the US because they're their poor; they're not poor because they don't like the US.
  3. LOL... My friend's got one that says "NO BU**SH** WARS." I kinda like it.
  4. I was in Iowa City on Monday... Whoever designed those streets is a complete moron.
  5. A minority President? In the United States? The South didn't secede again, did they?

  7. Maybe, just perhaps, these people wouldnt be in such horrible shape if they didnt spend so much time whining about how they hate America and if they spent a little more time improving their minds and teaching their future generations. I dont care that people are suffering in the Middle East and such places. If they werent so full of hatred towards others they wouldnt be so poor. These people think the West is responsible for their problems and thats their problem. They take no responsibility for anything. Its their own fault. When theyre in the ditch they call for America to help them and when we help them out they use the strength we gave them to punch us in the gut... This is the stupidest thing I've ever read.

    France

That money that we gave them (much of which I'm assuming was from the Marshall Plan) helped vault the U.S. into the prosperity of the 1950s and completely shake the off the Great Depression.
  9. Oh that'll be a good show... I saw Disturbed at a bar in Chicago just before they got huge and damn, they were good. They're a pretty good live show, Chevelle ain't bad for being a bunch of sissy pricks from Chicago's suburbs and Taproot is all right... I've never heard of Unloco, so no comment... Either way, I assume it will be cheaper than Zwan and the Queens of Stone Age, since I won't have to pay b**** ass Ticketmaster as the Civic Center is about a 20 minute walk from where I live. I was in Iowa City last night and saw Rooney, OK Go, and The Donnas and it was awesome. The Donnas leave a little to be desired in terms of the live, on stage presence, but OK Go was well worth the $15 admission.

I'm "Sweet Cheeks." I sure hope not the cheeks I'm thinking of.
  11. God damn Ticketmaster and their god damn $5.50 "convience charge." s***, I don't think I can afford this and I'd rather go see Chevelle, Disturbed, Taproot, and Unloco at the PCC, anyways.
  12. Don't have a favorite any more so I don't get silly attachments to some of the mediocre players that pass through (people still b**** and moan about Herbert Perry for f***'s sake).
  13. Its extremely rare for someone drafted during the previous season to get to ST. He'll probably make an appearance next year.
  14. You've never hurt your knee, I take it.
  15. September 3, 1983 - August 23, 2002: Chicago August 23 - Present: Peoria, IL (Though, since I'm only living at school here, I suppose I still am from Chicago... I don't know... I'm probably going to move down here full time once I'm a junior so I can squeeze all my classes in. Basically, I'm going to try and cram 5 1/2 years of school into 4).
  16. What poll is that you're seeing? I'm not questioning it, I just have yet to see any pro-war number that high.... The highest (pro-war) one I've seen was a while ago at about 58% for war, 37% against.
  17. They're totally insane.
  18. I still think more Americans are going to die tonight of starvation and homelessness than they EVER will die from a missile from North Korea. We don't care about North Korea. They got no oil.
  19. Well, Rowand isn't a starter, so probably him, but I'm most worried about Olivio because he's got a lot of pressure on him and he's being rushed into a position where that can really stunt your growth, so probably Olivio.
  20. Yeah, they're not very good, though, I think that may have a lot more do to with getting acquainted to Les' new run'n'gun as opposed to the arcaic style of ball played under Molinari (blegh). We're returning 4 starters next year (should have been 5, :fyou, Granger!), and we're in a pretty pathethic conference (sans Creighton and Southern Illinois), so we can at least make some noise in the Valley next year. Gilbert is a scoring machine, Gillingham and Robinson have some ridiculous ball handling skills, Heemskerk should be back next year and I think Battle is already better than Stewart. Add a little size to this team and we're in the top 4 of the MVC. At least we smacked around Illinois State last night. As for tests, I agree, they're the only way to measure students against each other on a national scale, but way too much emphasis is placed on them.
  21. Standardized test scores are quite possibly the worst way to judge student intelligence.

Old as he may be, he's better than anyone we've got in center field.
