In 2002, Gordon had a 3.38 ERA, and only threw 42.2 IP, with the Cubs and Astros. His last year in the American League, with Boston in 1998, he put up a 5.60. Osuna... a 3.86... Sorry, I still don't feel completely secure with Gordon...

Like Murcie said, Olivio is clearly not ready for the challenges of being a big league catcher. I'd much rather have him in AAA playing everyday and getting more accustomed to the position than heating the USCF benches. As for Burke, why the hell not? He can't be any worse than Josh Paul. That's assuming tho, that Esteban and Jon stay at the level they are at all year... Kind of a risk... As for the bullpen, I don't see 6 or 7 dependable guys right now... Good to see Wunsch has been lights out. The pitching will be all right, IMO, but it's looking more and more like we're going to need a Minnesota meltdown.

Well, I don't want to defend Rogers or any member of the Twins, but... If you look at last year's Sox stats, Danny Wright had an ERA over a half run more than Jon Garland, and yet Wright won more games. Basically, what I'm saying is that when looking at how successful a pitcher was in a given year, wins/losses can be very misleading. The more telling number is ERA, and anything under 4 in the AL isn't bad -- especially for a guy that's going to be a 4th or 5th starter. An ERA under 4 in the American League is fantastic.

ill be happy if he can go more than two batters this year.. maybe shoot for a couple of innings at a time??? hope thats not too much to ask.... 1, 2, or 3 batters max is his job.
