  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 04:24 PM) Rios drives me nuts. He sucks .... full stop
  2. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 03:37 PM) We will score 4 this inning. Wow
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 02:46 PM) Quentin's hit .211 and .213 vs LHP the last two years. ... and Alex since the ASB last year?
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 02:39 PM) Me no likey watching Quentin face LHP. I'll see your CQ and raise you Alex Rios
  5. Someone sign the Royals' chubby LF ballboy, looks like he would fit in great...
  6. I was under the impression that the pitching staff loved AJ and that his game calling was widely respected despite sub-par "defensive" metrics ... given the fact that we have some borderline starters in the 3, 4 (EJaxx, Gavin) spot and MB is getting on in years, think his value is completely understated in his ability to help this staff pitch to the best of their ability ... Plus, it's not like a lot of teams get much OF production from the catcher and our line-up has plenty of OF firepower; AJ also tends to at least be a decent contact hitter because he swings at everything. Thoughts?
  7. Wishful thinking, but Dallas is going to finally break out in AAA and be up with the club to rescue 3B in June ...
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 13, 2011 -> 01:05 AM) Sox fans are smart. They know Teahen is a utlility guy at best. If he starts and boots a grounder Opening Day the fans will let him have it. He'll be this year's Kotsay. Which implies that Ozzie will start him every day. C'mon Dallas (not gonna happen), make a run here........
  9. MB getting hit hard again... Soriano almost took him yard to end the inning
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 20, 2011 -> 06:58 PM) He should of been WS MVP IMO. ^^^This^^^ Hope the White Sox offer him a role in the organization somewhere
  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 1, 2011 -> 03:52 PM) Dunn is actually not that slow. He's not fast, but he's stolen 59 bases in his career. They were all early in his career because he hasn't successfully stolen a base since 2008, so he has slowed down, but it's not like Konerko is getting faster. So, yeah, you can suggest that Dunn is slower than Konerko, but you'd be wrong. (you also don't have to be moving quickly when the ball goes over the fence) /obligatory First of all, challenge ... Dunn is the guy in Major League running the 40 who gets beat by Willy Mays Hayes coming from behind in his PJs Secondly, again not saying you're wrong, but I thought you usually wanted your 'best hitter' / best production guy in the 3-hole, and think that regardless of his walks (especially given his speed), you don't want a mid .200 hitter, who is slow, and strikes out 150+ times per year hitting in the 3 hole, especially when you can hit him 4th/5th given the talent in this line-up
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) Regardless of the reasoning, I'll take the guy with the .381 OBP hitting 3rd vs the guy with the .331 OBP. Ozzie, without question, is making the right call here. All good for conversation... Might I suggest however that Dunn is even slower than Konerko and can eat a bag of raw meat before getting home vs. Rios, who has speed. Doesnt matter if he has a higher OBP if he can't score from 1B. Just saying, think he is a true clean-up guy and you protect him with TCQ until Ginger Kid's prophesy comes true and then you put Rios or Beckham in the 6-hole
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) Regardless of the reasoning, I'll take the guy with the .381 OBP hitting 3rd vs the guy with the .331 OBP. Ozzie, without question, is making the right call here. Rios is, at-best, a 2/6-hole hitter. Using a clean-up batter in the 3-hole is a waste of his production...
  14. "Spring Training dictates to me where they're going to hit," White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said. "How they feel more comfortable. How the team looks better. I want to protect Adam and PK with Rios, and I can do a lot of things here. Rios can steal bases and stuff, and A.J. [Pierzynski] can hit-and-run with [Carlos] Quentin. We can do a lot of things with them. I'm just going to start with Dunn batting third to see how it works." Protect Adam and PK with Rios? GMAFB
  15. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Feb 27, 2011 -> 12:28 AM) I also don't think this is going to go over well with players, regardless of their feeling for Jenks one way or the other. This is Ozzie doing essentially what Oney was doing, making public a player's personal life and stuff that should've remained behind closed doors. To me it smacks of serious trust issues, not to mention maturity. No question about it, it is really distracting and bad for the club. I just dont understand why he can't figure out to be an adult and manage the club like a professional. Write a book after you get fired if you need to soothe your ego....
  16. I would not be surprised to see Jorge Cantu sign a one year deal with the Sox. Also think he underperformed in Texas and could be a good utility player for us. DFA Teahen ;-)
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 11:17 PM) Something changed in Dye like 2 1/2 years ago. Heard some places it was marital issues, but he just hasn't been the same guy since. I have a friend who is still in the A's marketing organization and apparently JD loved to take strippers to Hawaii with him, would take them golfing/have them caddy for him, have them strip down and lie down on the green next to the hole and give him something to aim at. He always used to ping me when he would see one of the Boys/Girls Clubs of America ads while he was with the Sox. Full respect. Love JD, bring that man a contract!
