  1. I spoke to Krogman's dad yesterday. He said he's taking the week to make a decision
  2. I need to write the preview for FutureSox but I've been busy doing draft stuff. Thanks for this.
  3. THey are likely signing the #4 prospect from the 2018 class though
  4. Baty is going underslot. My guess is Baty is taking just under $3 million, Wolf getting $1 million and Allan close to $4 million.
  5. 3rd round slot is $667K. They are likely giving Allan close to $4 million. If Allan chooses not to sign, they'd lose $667K but they could still offer Barco the remaining the 3.3 million they had allotted to Allan.
  6. This will be a great resource today. Best players available https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/every-ba-500-prospect-still-available-entering-day-3/
  7. Adam Engel as well. He's bad but getting to the majors as a 19th rounder is a scouting win.
  8. Can someone put together a list of the top 5-6 college arms left on the board? That's what the Sox did last year.
  9. For those that are confused, I have a thread on my twitter feed at @JamesFox917 explaining today's process. They spent like $60K on rounds 5-10. It's very likely that most of the players drafted tomorrow will be better than those guys. They can pay everyone $125K tomorrow and it doesn't count against the pool. They'll make a few overslot signings and the class will look much better. This is just the way this process works. Especially without comp picks.
  10. Day 2 of the draft yes. I bet they sign multiple players overslot tomorrow. We need to look at the totality of the class.
  11. I like this strategy for the Sox so far. Infuse some youth into this system. My guess is that they are saving like $500K on Vaughn and maybe another $500K or so on Thompson. Thompson had a down year. He might be under $1.5 million. Good stuff so far.
  12. 100% agree with this. Keith Law being such a huge fan is a big positive for me. He's usually pretty spot on about hitters that he likes.
  13. I think the White Sox are destined to take Graeme Stinson, right?
  14. Zavala made it up to majors. We will be seeing Collins and Mendick shortly as well. It's early for 2017 or 2018.
  15. I liked the idea of going with CJ Abrams underslot and adding multiple prep talents. I'm fine with Vaughn though. It's tough to be upset about adding one of the best hitters in the class.
  16. BP has 70 hit and 80 power on Vaughn which is insane
  17. Brewer is ranked #108 in the class according to pipeline. Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 50 | Run: 65 | Arm: 50 | Field: 55 | Overall: 45 As a high school wide receiver, Brewer drew interest from the likes of Michigan and Wisconsin, but his football hopes evaporated when he dislocated his shoulder as a senior. He slipped through the cracks in baseball recruiting and wound up spending his first two college seasons at Lincoln Trail (Ill.) CC. He has been a revelation after joining the Wolverines as a junior, exciting scouts with his combination of tools and performance while winning the Big Ten Conference player of the year award. If he realizes his upside, Brewer will have at least solid tools across the board. He has well above-average speed and plus raw power, giving him 20-20 potential. He doesn't try to do too much at the plate, using his combination of a quick right-handed swing and strength to deliver hard contact to all fields. A center fielder at Lincoln Trail, Brewer has played mostly right field and first base this spring because Michigan had greater needs there. He needs to refine his instincts a bit but he has the quickness to become a quality defender in center when he returns there in pro ball. His arm grades as average to solid and plays up because he makes accurate throws.
  18. Vaughn has significantly more power.
  19. Fangraphs has Abrams falling to #10.
  20. The funny thing about this is nobody wants him as a 19.5 year old HS 3B. But if he goes to Texas and mashes, two years from now he'll be a top 10 lock. So strange.
  21. They might be able to get him under. He'd fall to #5 otherwise
  22. There were some rumors yesterday that CJ Abrams' camp was calling around and shopping deals with the thought that he was falling and didn't have an agreement in the top 6. Then the Andrew Vaughn to White Sox noise started picking up again. Then last night Mayo linked them to Brett Baty. He also was the one to link them to Nick Schnell late in the process last year. This is me speculating but I think it's possible: Sox want to take Abrams underslot. They don't have a deal. If Sox pass on him and took Baty instead, Abrams would fall into 7-9 range. That's a lot less $$. Maybe the Baty thing is posturing to get Abrams to take their discount. If not they take Vaughn for close to the slot amount.
  23. I believe that Jonathan Mayo was the one to link the Sox to Nick Schnell late last year.
  24. I actually think Abrams floor and ceiling are much higher than Stott. Stott is meh. Abrams isn't some toolsy project. He can hit and play a premium position.
  25. Yesterday at this time I was pretty confident that they'd take Abrams. Right now though, I'd predict that it will be Vaughn. I wouldn't be surprised if they save a little money too.
