  1. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 02:11 PM) Sox should have most of what wont be around in 3 years pretty much gone already, especially those are in their contract years and costing over $10m. This is not something ridiculous to ask for and it hardly means to the rebuild should all wrapped up by now. It shouldn't take a full calendar year to turn this ship around and embark on a new direction. Which players should be traded right now?
  2. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 12:22 PM) The Sox could trade Q, Frazier, Abreu and Jones if they wanted to. Robertson could've been included in the Eaton deal to who-knows what end. Melky is tougher to move, but I think he could be a salary dump if the Sox were truly motivated to tear down. If the offers aren't good though, why wouldn't they hold right now? Frazier can be traded to a team that loses a power hitter in season. Same scenario with Robertson and Melky. I don't think Abreu is going anywhere and Jones would bring back a haul. Dumping these guys just to do so doesn't make sense until mid-season or so with the free agents.
  3. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 11:35 AM) Ok if its so unfounded and completely idiotic (impolite, by the way) then refute it. You say the didn't trade Eaton and Sale then just stop...I say that's exactly what has happened. Is there some other huge trade I've missed? And they are doing the same thing they've done every year the last three since the Winter Meetings, which is buttress their garbage roster with more scrapheap garbage like Derek Holland and Everth Cabrera. But really, without resorting to "well I just trust that Hahn is doing the right thing" make a compelling argument that the Sox dealt Eaton and Sale for 100% baseball reasons. I dont think you or anyone else really can. No. It doesn't warrant a response. If you honestly think that they traded those guys and are now somehow going for it, then I can't help you.
  4. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 11:28 AM) So according to the Predict Thy Numbers threads the Sox will feature a roster full of overperforming players putting up career years but they'll still finish with less than 70 wins because getting a draft pick is a good thing too. My predictions are that Rodon gets good, Abreu has a good full season and the Q-Fraz-Melky-Migo guys do basically what they did last year. A decent year from Tim Anderson and that's probably the low-end of mediocrity aka picking about 10th, maybe getting up to 6th or 7th if (god forbid) Q or Rodon get hurt. They'd have to shed at least two more players to begin contending for #1 in 2018, but once they do that I really like their odds because of the AL. Lets say Q doesn't move. Your rotation is Q/Rodon/Shields/Gonzalez/Holland. That's a bad rotation. Bullpen is good: Robertson, Jones, Jennings, Putnam, Petricka, etc. Lineup bad: 1B: Abreu 2B: Lawrie/Saladino 3B: Frazier SS: Anderson: DH:Garcia/Davidson OF: Tilson, Melky, Garcia, Liriano They'll make subtractions during season: Melky, Frazier, Q, Robertson, Gonzalez, Holland. This is a really bad baseball team.
  5. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 11:24 AM) Refuting it would have to lend a degree of trust in a White Sox front office that has done nothing to earn it this decade. They didn't just trade Eaton and Sale and stop. They haven't added anything. This an unfounded, completely idiotic opinion. You can be upset that more hasn't happened but coming up with fake narratives doesn't make sense.
  6. QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 11:23 AM) They don't want to trade him. They just wanted to get rid of Sale and Eaton for pissing off Kenny. It also makes it look like they are rebuilding. This is dumb.
  7. QUOTE (Baron @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 11:12 AM) Dan Hayes on the CSN Podcast said something like that yesterday. They normally dont trade guys during/after Soxfest heading into Spring Training. They all pretty much through Jeff Luhnow wasnt posturing as they just want to see what happens in Spring Training with the team. One of the hosts predicted he sticks through the entire season because of the limited market you get during the deadline. Also Chuck Garfien pretty much shared my worries. That between now and the deadline his trade value is at it's highest. After well the price probably drops. Garfien also said it hasn't been quiet. They get calls every day but nobody has met the price. What the f*** are they asking for?
  8. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 11:18 AM) Reds, Padres, White Sox, A's, Rays, Twins, Phillies...pick your order. These are probably the seven worst teams in baseball. Padres are probably only group with a worse offense than Sox, right?
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 11:15 AM) Yeah, I am not sure why people would have any expectations for this team. They have all of the same holes as they had last year, and they are minus their best pitcher and most consistent hitter & fielder. It's because some people think Robin Ventura was worth 10 wins.
  10. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 10:45 AM) Doubt it, especially if they trade Q. I think 5th-7th is the worst case scenario if Q is traded before the season. I think 5th-7th is worst case if Q isn't traded at all. This team is bad.

  12. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 10:10 AM) Why? If anything I think it's the opposite. They probably want to move him before SoxFest in order to make the big announcement there or they won't move him until the deadline. This doesn't make sense though and isn't how teams operate. They haven't gotten the offers they wanted. If someone offers them what they want next Wednesday or Thursday or the following week, they'll trade Quintana. It's much more about teams not ponying up than some arbitrary deadline. If they keep him until the deadline it's not because that was the plan. It's because nobody offered enough to pull the trigger.
  13. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 09:17 AM) Why? Soxfest? Yep. They won't be trading him prior to Soxfest or this weekend. If someone offers them what they want prior to Spring Training though, I think they'd still move him.
  14. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 09:16 AM) Yeesh that's quite the...something on Tatis. Not surprised to see Lopez not on his list though. He had the Sox system as a whole ranked 10th so he's clearly not as high on some of our guys as most. Exactly. They have 4 top 100 guys from Law. I bet Hansen is on his just missed list because he said a couple months back that Hansen would be top 100. I think mob pipeline with have 7 Sox in the top 100 (Moncada, Giolito, Kopech, Lopez, Collins, Fulmer, and Basabe). If they stretched to 150, probably Burdi and Hansen as well.
  15. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 09:00 AM) This party is dead, man. It's dead until at least Monday.
  16. I didn't realize that Luis Martinez took such a step in the right direction.
  17. I'll take a stab at the top 15 1. Yoan Moncada 2. Lucas Giolito 3. Michael Kopech 4. Reynaldo Lopez 5. Zach Collins 6. Carson Fulmer 7. Alec Hansen 8. Zach Burdi 9. Luis Alexander Basabe 10. Dane Dunning 11. Spencer Adams 12. Jameson Fisher 13. Jordan Stephens 14. Alex Call 15. Luis Curbelo
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 08:31 AM) Expected to see Call/Fisher in this list, I guess they maintained your interest even as the system beefed up. Quite a fall for Micker. Really hope he can stay healthy and have a season here. I think if guys like Call and Curbelo are top 15 prospects, then this system probably isn't as good as people think it is. It's very top heavy. The next 2 years are very important.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 08:39 AM) Lopez doesn't qualify? 44 innings means he's still technically a rookie. Law thinks he's a reliever. I doubt he's on there if we haven't seen him yet.
  20. http://www.espn.com/blog/keith-law/insider/post?id=6248 No White Sox in Law's 41-60. I'm expecting just Moncada, Kopech, and Giolito. He has Fernando Tatis Jr at #47. Yes, that Fernando Tatis Jr.
  21. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jan 24, 2017 -> 08:12 PM) Steve, why are you surprised? Did you see the responses he got on his campaign trail? Your faith in your fellow man is admirable, but sadly misplaced. Less than 30% of the people voted for him. I always remind myself of that every time some moron says "the people have spoken"
  22. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Jan 23, 2017 -> 05:30 PM) Leury and his lifetime average of .188 has no business being on a major league ball club IMO. The guy is almost as painful to watch bat as Sanchez. I'd much rather let Peter takes his place who appears to provide the same positional flexibility and slightly more upside with the bat. Garcia can play average D at SS, 2B, and probably any OF position. He also has Plus speed. He;s not very good but you wanted reasons as to why Peter and Alvarez aren't there. They have other guys they want to see first. That's why.
  23. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 24, 2017 -> 11:51 AM) Jeff Thomas on the next season of Last Chance U? Midwest guys don't usually go to EMCC but something similar is possible
  24. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 24, 2017 -> 10:52 AM) Exactly No way the Pirates offer up 5 top 15 prospects for one player 3 or 4 tops The Pirates would be destroying their future with that proposal If the Pirates aren't willing to include Meadows or Bell, I don't think Hahn would do it for less than Glasnow, Keller, Newman and something else. I'd take Glasnow, Keller, Newman, and Hayes instantly. That's 4 top 100 prospects.
  25. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 24, 2017 -> 10:41 AM) I ranked Diaz somewhere 20-25 and still couldn't get him on the list. I'm with you here though. I'm probably too low. I literally just wrote down 40 names on my plan period and put a list together. My bottom like 10 isn't researched at all.
