QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 01:35 PM) Anderson SS Eaton RF Abreu 1B Cabrera LF Frazier 3B Navarro C Lawrie 2B Garcia DH Shuck CF Shuck and Garcia playing everyday is just a killer. That's what happens when an organization takes half measures and doesn't finish a job though.

What Exactly is "The Plan"?
It's not happening though. Reinsdorf is what 80? THey'll add this year and go for a WC or division. Add in the offseason and go for it again. You would think they could have a massive selloff by next year's deadline but they just won't. Their rotation is basically set for next year. Doing this just hasn't worked. It's pretty frustrating but it is what it is.

2016 Draft picks thread
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 09:09 PM) Is it normal to use most of picks 30-40 for they know that they won't sign? I'm sure Hahn will rush Burdi up if it's possible. It's normal to take a few guys like that but they took a lot this year.

What Exactly is "The Plan"?
QUOTE (Dunt @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 11:55 PM) The Sox have a bunch of great pieces, but don't look any bit a contender as presently constructed. I'm tired of the Robin debate. We all know he's a mediocre manager, but he's only a part of the problem. You have players that underperform all. thee. f***ing. time, you have a really poor advanced scouting department, a poor pro development system...what is the plan here? Obviously this "going for it" strategy has blown up in their face...again. Are they going to try maximizing the last 3 years of these sweetheart deals or sell and give this fanbase a chance at something more than just poorly thrown together .500 seasons? I know they're not technically out of it now, but their performance against the division is absolutely abysmal, embarrassing even. What is the plan here? I don't see a plan. This looks like a directionless franchise which is perhaps the most frustrating part about this entire thing. Half Measures. It's what they do. Try to strike lightning in a bottle. I'm not one of these people that wants to sell everything but they should probably raise the payroll by $40 million or rebuild. Can't keep going halfway.

6/16 Games
QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 04:55 PM) Adam Engel has also quietly bounced back from his slow start and demotion. He's hitting .349 with an OBP of .453 in June. has 11 Walks to go with 13 Ks, driving in 9 runs while scoring 10. There's still hope. And he can play CF. That's the key.

QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 05:01 PM) Butler is the only thing watchable on this team. If they move Butler I'm out. So you'd be more likely to watch Butler on a .500 Bulls team with no championship aspirations then some promising young guys building something? Nobody wants to just trade Butler. It's probably worth it if they get what they want though.

Chris Cotillo @ChrisCotillo Source: White Sox in agreement with 1st-rdr. (26th) Zack Burdi for full slot value ($2,128,500). I would expect to see Burdi sometime after the All Star Break.

QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 04:18 PM) I don't think the Bulls move Butler (although I wouldn't mind if they did) Seriously, at least we'd get a new narrative out of this offseason if the rest of this happened. Can you be GM? I guess Afflalo can't be included because he's opting out. Either way though, Bulls could take on Calderon.

2015-2016 NBA Thread
This is what I'd do if possible: Once Gasol opts out, they have $26 million in space. Ideally, the Rose thing is true. Rose and Snell to Knicks for Calderon, Afflalo, and 2 2nd rounders. That clears $15 million more. Trade Taj Gibson without taking any money in return. Bulls would have $50 million in cap space. I would not trade Butler for that Wolves package without Wiggins but I'd probably do it to the Celtics for Bradley, Crowder, and #3. Could be an interesting offseason. It's going to suck when they sign Harrison Barnes to a max deal and do nothing else though haha

QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 03:57 PM) Knicks fans on twitter seem to think they would be elevated to be one of the powerhouses if they were to land Rose. Afflalo supposedly opting out. How about Afflalo, Calderon, and a 2nd rounder for Rose and Tony Snell. Afflalo opts out, Calderon owed $7 million this year but Bulls could be players in free agency.

2016 Draft picks thread
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 11:22 AM) A prominent member of the Sox draft process has said that Curbelo will be signed. I think it's a logistical matter of it not being official at this point. It was nice that Hansen was underslot. The risk diversification of the top three picks was incredible. As someone from a business background, I loved the certainty of Collins/Burdi following with an underslot potential high reward player in Hansen. Absolutely. The only teams that can really go nuts with under slot guys are the teams at the top with exorbitant bonus pool numbers.

Adolfo Love the infusion of talent, favorite draft class I can remember for my Sox Hamilton probably not top 10 IMO as a definite reliever and I'd probably still have Spencer Adams at 3 but you probably have the right names.

He's a model citizen off the court, hilarious, and works his ass off. But yep, should totally be 40/10/10 because why exactly? GET THE F*CK OVER THE DECISION PEOPLE And growing up where and how he did with his crazy ass mother, it's a grand accomplishment that he's made it to where he has.

Season Preview - 2016 Great Falls Voyagers
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 09:28 AM) Great Falls, the more advanced of the rookie ball affiliates, opens play tonight. We previewed the team here, including 13 of the players just drafted last week. The other rookie team, the AZL White Sox, open Monday (and we'll preview them on Monday as well). By the way, Great Falls is a team where it's been nearly impossible for us to get any in-person reports on prospects during their seasons. It's a pain to travel to so we've only had a writer actually go there once, and none of the friends of the blog seem to go either. So if anyone on here is from Montana or knows someone who goes to their games regularly and is interested in contributing to Future Sox any reports they have, let us know. Will Alec Hansen start in Kannapolis right away?

White Sox Acquire James Shields
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 08:12 AM) If the White Sox were concerned about his mechanics and ready to trade him after just 3 starts...what's to say that other GM's wouldn't have identified the same issue/s (mechanics/injury risk) with him, or heard whispers around the batting cage that Cooper was frustrated and ready to cut bait, etc.? It's not like it's always a slam dunk that you can trade a top prospect for an established veteran major league pitcher with that kind of talent...Jackson had stretches of success in LA, TB and especially with the Tigers. Maybe so. The Hudson chapters in Jeff Passan's The Arm are fascinating. Kevin Towers loved him.

2016 Draft picks thread
QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 09:07 AM) At this point I'm assuming the only possible tough signs are the 20-40 round high schoolers, all of which seem to say they aren't signing. Seems like a remarkably straight forward class. Yep. Hickman and Ian Anderson are the only past 10 round bonus pool guys and Curbelo will be over-slot in round 6.

White Sox will not win until their players produce
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 08:58 AM) Let's go down the list Abreu, can and will improve Frazier. Possible he could improve, but he had a horrid 2nd half last year, which was utterly ignored/glossed over in the pursuit of his greatness. Basically what you see is what you get with Frazier. Lawrie - Not much room for improvement He's never been a good hitter. He's basically adequate. Rick Hahn preferred "Adequate" to "currently inadequate but with potential", a decided organizational philosophy, so he acquired him. Saladino is a better player than Lawrie (and Avi and Shuck) but the Sox are the Sox and Saladino is on the bench.** Navarro - he can hit better; probably will. He's always sucked as a catcher. Rodon - Rodon was rushed for no reason, other than Williams/Hahn howling at the moon last summer that "we're in it." He should improve, but another few months in Charlotte would have helped. Robertson and JOnes are doing their jobs...they aren't elite and never have been. So out of these, Abreu and Navarro will hit better; Frazier might; and you'll see steady improvement out of Rodon. The .500 record is an accurate reflection of the talent level on this team. **Entering 2015, Charlotte had a crowded infield of ML ready players. And yet Hann and Williams STILL went out and acquired 2 veteran utility infielders. Anyone who can't see the decided bias in this org toward veterans, regardless of skill level, has their head in the sand. Frazier has a .191 BABIP. You would think that a torrid stretch is coming. Rodon would not have signed if he weren't in majors last year. This was the price of poker.

Wil Myers
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 08:41 AM) Probably no one. That's why you build, and not trade away possible/probable rookies of the year for good, not great players. You make savvy trades...you don't force them like Rick Hahn does. This business of falling in love with every NL hitter who smiles at Hahn/Williams is for the birds. It's what put us in this position and keeps us in the position. BTW, one element of the Sox early on that was credited for the big improvement was the defense. That element, apparently, isn't important anymore. I get what you are saying. Semien and Trayce are probably both better than people thought. Maybe it speaks to the teams' development being better overall though. The problem with the White Sox system is that they are so weak in that 6-15 range. They don't want to trade their top guys which is understandable. Most teams trade from the back of their top 10 but the White Sox don't have those guys to deal. So they end up dealing guys like Trayce, Montas, and Semien who have had some big league success. I'd trade Trayce Thompson, Micah, and Montas still for Frazier but I get where you are coming from. We just disagree.
