  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 18, 2016 -> 02:13 PM) I understand what you are saying, but Philly is still in a state of chaotic flux and really they arent really in a much better position going forward. They still are hoping to count on Embiid, and right now that guy looks like the next Oden They are getting Ben Simmons though, who I believe is a superstar. So they'll have 1 more superstar than the Bulls currently have giving them a better chance going forward. Bulls are in basketball hell.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 18, 2016 -> 02:06 PM) Kind of seems like they arent really keen on keeping one or both of these guys Great. And one of them would bring back something nice that can help you. What tradeable young assets do the Bulls have?
  3. What would this package cost from Milwaukee: RHP Jimmy Nelson, RHP Will Smith, and 1B Chris Carter?
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 18, 2016 -> 01:15 PM) Honestly, I don't know that the Sixers are in a better position than the Bulls. Hinkie drafted a bunch of 7 footers, none of whom appear to be total impact players and some of which have had a hard time getting on the court. The Sixers are awful and have been awful for a number of years. I'm not saying the Bulls are great, but things are absolutely possible. Two years ago, no one saw the Warriors turning into the greatest regular season team in NBA history (record wise) and an NBA champion. Would you rather have the Bulls coach, roster, and financial situation or Brent Brown, tons of $$ to spend, and Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, Dario Saric, Jahlil Okafor, and Nerlens Noel?
  5. QUOTE (Lillian @ May 18, 2016 -> 11:30 AM) What the hell do I know? I'm just going off of all of the scouting reports. This is typical: "Scouts are split on whether Anderson can play shortstop in the big leagues. He has the necessary actions and enough arm strength, but his hands aren't especially soft and his footwork is erratic, leading to 78 errors in his first 255 pro games. His tools would profile well in center field if he can't cut it in the infield." Many scouts question whether or not he will be a good enough defender to stick at SS, much less an elite defensive shortstop. Keith Law said he can play SS in the majors right now.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ May 18, 2016 -> 12:53 PM) Until they can win more than 10 games in a year I'll say they are no closer. Hinkie had a good plan but he made a lot of poor decisions that lost him good will, the most basic of which was being a poor communicator of roster moves that pissed off agents, players and his own admin team. Also, I do feel like purposely avoiding competent veterans stunted growth. Players were regressing. That said, they should have let him see it throuhg, especially to hire bryan colangelo, perhaps the worst executive of the 2000s, including new york. You need superstars to win titles. He knows that. The lottery balls just didn't work in his favor. Finally did this time.
  7. Many Bulls fans made fun of the Sixers and Sam Hinkie's plan but now they are closer to winning a championship than the Bulls are. Also, in Chad Ford's mock draft he has the Bulls taking Michigan State PF Deyonta Davis and links them to him and 2 foreign big men. Anyone have a brief scouting report on Davis?
  8. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ May 18, 2016 -> 11:01 AM) Law has his first mock draft up. Has Sox taking Dakota Hudson at 10. Also has Collins going 11 and Perez 14. http://espn.go.com/blog/mlb-draft/insider/post?id=2618
  9. Who is opening the HickoryHuskers Appreciation Thread?
  10. QUOTE (Deadpool @ May 17, 2016 -> 10:15 AM) Change your name to something super controversial on the boards: BothBathrooms I Trade4Trout ILoveHawk IHateHawk HarryCarayRuinedUs I prefer SnapChatDickShots
  11. Many on the board wanted him on the White Sox next year. He gets a 3 year extension for $31 million to stay in Pittsburgh. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/05/pira...ml?fv-home=true
  12. Braves fired Fredi Gonzalez today. Hopefully they hire Bud Black before the Tigers can.
  13. I'm just patiently waiting for the Bathroom Dilemma thread to re-open. Some interesting s*** in there lately.
  14. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 17, 2016 -> 09:15 AM) Ritche: Oh no! We lost...Kip Wells? Loaiza: Steal for Kenny. Garcia: Lost nothing of consequence, re-signed him after he was with the team (thus, not a rental) and helped win the World Series. Strong win. Swisher: Definite loss both times. No arguing there. Thome: Huge win. Vazquez: Three very good seasons with the team (fWAR of 4.7, 4.8, 4.7) and was acquired as a fifth starter. Chris Young had one season of similar value, five years later. Jackson: Hudson's arm fell off and Holmberg is back in Birmingham. Jackson pitched well for the Sox, 4.7 fWAR in a year with the team. Peavy: Gave up essentially nothing for him. Turned into Avi, Lawrie and Frazier on the current roster. Lawrie: Gave up a AAA bullpen arm and a possible future fifth starter for a major component to the team winning right now. Frazier: Who piece of the current team and reason why they're winning. Youkilis: Gave up the Stealth Elf and almost made the playoffs. Liriano: Very similar to Youkilis. Samardzjia: Yeah, that one is bad right now but we'll have to see how far Semien's glove can go and who the Sox draft with their second 1st rounder this year. Now let's look at a few others just for funsies. Carlos Lee was highway robbery for Podsednik in return. Gavin Floyd and Gio was a steal for Freddy (you can be mad for the Phillies, he only won one game with them) Danks for BMac was a great deal. Borchard for Matt Thornton was a great deal. The Eaton trade looks mighty good as well.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 17, 2016 -> 09:39 AM) If I'm the Cubs, I'm dealing Russell, Schwarber and the rest from the minor leagues...one would obviously be Almora to play CF, Torres, two of their best starting pitching prospects in the minors and one more piece (catcher?) I wouldn't give up Bryant. Paying $100 million on the last three years of that deal, it's probably going to be a "fair" price but it's not creating oodles of surplus value, except for teams that can afford $175-225 million payrolls. The Cubs don't need Trout to win, but the Angels can't win a thing by keeping Trout. Heck, they might not even get to the playoffs, which would be really pointless and the same argument we have been making the last couple of years for trading Sale if they're "stuck in the middle" and can't surround him with enough talent to build an upper 80's win total team. Keep in mind, the Angels are still on the hook for the Josh Hamilton and especially Pujols deals, and they have the worst minor league system (by far) in the majors. It's the right move, unless Moreno's going to spend his way quickly back into contention, and that hasn't worked very well as a strategy in LA for quite some time. I'd actually rather have Russell as the headliner than Bryant. You are looking at a potential 5-6 WAR SS that is like 22 years old. Russell is a stuuuud.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2016 -> 07:52 AM) I wouldn't call him Babe Ruth just yet. Well duh. Poorly worded by me. Since Babe Ruth, Miguel Cabrera and Frank Robinson were the guys that came to mind. Robinson was 29 though.
  17. QUOTE (Deadpool @ May 17, 2016 -> 09:04 AM) No, it still doesn't. It would probably take most of the Cubs' 5 top 100 prospects, but not Bryant. The Halos don't really hold any cards on this. If they don't trade Trout, they're still completely hosed. Yes it would. Starts with Bryant or Russell plus Schwarber. It's Mike f***ing Trout. Just prospects wouldn't even get the Cubs a sniff and I doubt they have the pitching inventory to get it done anyway.
  18. Mike Trout's 5 most similar players through age 23: Miguel Cabrera, Hank Aaron, Ken Griffey Jr, Frank Robinson, Mickey Mantle. He'd most likely be the best player ever traded. A package headlined by Kyle Schwarber doesn't even get a conversation. Starts with Kris Bryant and Addison Russell in my opinion.
  19. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 12, 2016 -> 01:19 PM) Igor Eronko ‏@IgorEronko 3h3 hours ago Barry Smith told @rsportru #Blackhawks are very close to sign Czech D Michal Kempny #Avangard #KHL This would be a pretty big move from what I've read.
  20. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 16, 2016 -> 02:23 PM) "In all probability, it's conceivable, that much like any of the other 29 teams, we are going to use the resources at our disposal to exhaust any plausible form of an upgrade in one way or another all things considered." Haha I'm pretty sure you just made that up but it sounds exactly like something Hahn would say.
  21. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ May 15, 2016 -> 12:05 AM) What's a worse trade, Russell for Samardzija or Rizzo for Cashner? Both very one sided now. Arrieta and Strop for Feldman and Clevenger
  22. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ May 16, 2016 -> 08:05 AM) Who would Ray compare to in the bigs? Adam Eaton? AJ Pollock? Keith Law's comp was Ray Lankford.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 15, 2016 -> 03:30 AM) This is one of the most absurd issues in American history. Considering the amount of people this affects the main gay and lesbian rights group should be ashamed of itself for jumping on this bandwagon. How many people in this world have a penis but "identify" themselves as women? How many? And we're going to change all the restrooms in the entire f***ing country for them. All because they might be inconvenienced for the amount of time it takes to go to the bathroom. Listen, it's time to toughen up. If you have a f***ing dick go to the men's room! One other thing ... this PC stuff on campus is out of control. Comedians won't venture anywhere near a campus anymore cause of the PC bulls***. Jokes aren't laughed at by the pampered babies of this world. At the mere mention of the word black, they hiss. Gay they hiss. The audiences boo the comics off stage, famous comics. It's disgraceful what has happened to America. Maybe Trump can change the PC bulls***. What do u all think of this article. Sounds like Americans are gonna homeschool their kids rather than have them subjected to this crap. And why wouldn't they homeschool their kids over this? Here's what this means in real life: A junior football player comes to school and decides he'd love to go into the girls bathroom so he simply walks in the girls bathroom. He hangs out in there. When approached by the dean: WTF are you doing??? He says, "I identify as a woman. I demand to use their bathroom." Boom! He's in. By law! If this is America ... time to homeschool or go to private school where they can make rules and do as they please. http://insider.foxnews.com/2016/05/13/tx-l..._article_footer Hmmm man choking girl in women's bathroom. http://www.wnd.com/2016/05/obama-obsession...s-in-bathrooms/ Any home-schooled kid I've ever met is weird and socially inept. If you'd rather have that than going to school with someone who is a little bit different then more power to you.
  24. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ May 13, 2016 -> 06:27 PM) I dunno. Even though he has superstar upside, he hasn't done much to prove It. I'd much rather draft a batter that is raking (like Kyle Lewis and Corey Ray) because they've proven they can dominate their current competition, same with pitchers. Going for upside alone, without any results to back it up, is too risky to me. Look at Byron Buxton, wasn't he supposed to be a superstar? He's been a total scrub so far. Perez can stay at SS. That's extremely valuable.
  25. I just pictured the wrestling announcer Jim Ross shouting "OH MY GOD. THAT'S A PENIS"!!!
