  1. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 11:05 AM) A week or so ago he admitted he still had pain. This many days later it has to be painful still unless football practices help pain. It's also not a playoff team that's supposed to play in a downpour on Sunday. Letting White play would be senseless and it's a smart for him to not play until September 2016. It's not senseless if he's cleared though. He's getting strength back in the leg. He's been doing 11 on 11 stuff in practice. I don't necessarily think he should play but I wouldn't be against it if he were cleared.
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 10:20 AM) 19 HR 68 RBI 17 SB 72 BB 123 K .268 AVG .353 OBP .431 SLG .784 OPS Averages in career. He hasn't hit more than 14 HR in 4 seasons. Basically his career averages are close to Adam Eaton's 2015 season. I like advanced stats but in this case I'd agree with the traditional types. He's a really good player. 5-6 WAR player usually. He's an excellent defender and baserunner. If I'm paying $200 million though, I need you to hit for power.
  3. The Kevin White story is so weird. The Tribune is reporting that he will not play this year. Said he's working hard and looks good but they don't want to risk it because his leg isn't as strong as the other leg. It all make complete sense. The problem is, so many people (including coaches and players) have been optimistic and even talking about him playing at some point. Aaron Leming's source told him White was playing Sunday. I was told by an athletic training source I have that knows someone that works up there something similar. Many media members including Jeff Dickerson and Moon Mullin were acting like he'd be playing. the Tribune guys (Biggs, Wiederer,Campbell) have all said from the get-go that he'd be shutdown at some point. I don't think it's a big deal that he won't play this year. The way this story has been reported and handled has been really strange though.
  4. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 12:52 AM) Ugh hoiberg But I just can't get behind wanting to "blow it up" when these players and this team as currently constructed can and should get to the conference finals at least. Do they get to hang a banner for losing to Lebron in the playoffs?
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 11:04 PM) Great post. Made me laugh out loud. I actually was thinking I wouldn't mind seeing Frazier in a Sox uniform. It's risky acquiring NL guys but would they take Eaton/Rodon and a Class A guy? We got Trayce to take over for Eaton. Rodon? Seriously?
  6. QUOTE (daggins @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 11:39 AM) Gonna say trade for CarGo and sign Howie Kendrick. Then pen and rotation depth. I really doubt they'd give up a top 30 pick to sign 32 year old Howie Kendrick.
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 11:01 AM) Which is the sign of a great coach, forcing players into an offensive scheme that doesn't work for them. Maybe they should fire him
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 11:03 AM) With regards to Fulmer, if you hold on to him, they better no for sure he's going to be a starter and not a reliever. Even if they think he's a reliever, they could pry away more for him from a different team that believes he can start. There are no ifs in my opinion. If the Reds require Fulmer or Anderson, Frazier won't be a White Sox.
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 08:58 AM) Remember, keep this thread strictly to plans of what Sox could/should do given the current moves already. Do not stray off topic. Sign OF Justin Upton 6 years/125 million Trade OF Avail Garcia, SS Tim Anderson, SP Frankie Montas, and 2B Micah Johnson to the Reds for Todd Frazier Trade RP Zach Putnam to the Diamondbacks for Competitive B Draft Pick Trade 1B Adam LaRoche + Cash to the Pirates for 1 lower level minor leaguer Lineup: LF Adam Eaton (L) DH Melky Cabrera (S) 1B Jose Abreu RF Justin Upton 3B Todd Frazier 2B Brett Lawrie C Alex Avila/Dioner Navarro (L) (S) CF Trayce Thompson SS Tyler Saladino 2B/SS Carlos Sanchez (S), OF J.B Shuck (L), C Alex Avila (L)/Dioner Navarro (S), Rule 5 pick/FA/Mike Olt Rotation: SP Chris Sale (L) SP Jose Quintana (L) SP Carlos Rodon (L) SP Erik Johnson SP John Danks (L) Bullpen: RP Jacob Turner (long man) RP Jake Petricka RP Dan Jennings (L) RP Tommy Kahnle RP Zach Duke (L) RP Nate Jones CP David Robertson Thoughts? That's an overpay for Frazier. Reds will either budge off Anderson or Frazier won't be a White Sox
  10. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 08:57 AM) Don't really see how Hoiberg is "fine". The offense is just pitiful now with the same roster, and that's compared to Thibs, who wasn't exactly an offensive mastermind himself. The roster is flawed, but it's always been that way. They don't have like any players that fit what he wants to do offensively. Bottom line is, regardless of the coach, this team isn't a contender.
  11. The Reds are going to budge or the White Sox and Reds won't have a deal. Sox aren't going to trade Anderson or Fulmer for Frazier and they shouldn't.
  12. Would Baltimore be better off with Chris Davis or Alex Gordon, Pedro Alvarez, and Scott Kazmir?
  13. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 07:37 AM) Jaylon Smith? I left him off because I think he's a top 10 lock and I think the Bears will be picking in the teens.
  14. I think Fred Hoiberg is fine honestly. It was time to move on from Thibs but this is a very flawed roster. These guys just don't look like they enjoy playing with each other and the pieces just don't fit. Gasol and Noah are both in walk years. Taj and Rose are up after next year. I really wish they would tear it all down and move what they can but they are so stubborn and will never do it. It's frustrating.
  15. I would wait out Cincinnati. Frazier just doesn't have that big of a market. It's been said that the White Sox and Indians are interested. Who else from the AL would be interested? Maybe Texas, LAA, Tampa Bay? What about the NL? I just don't see a huge market.
  16. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 08:05 AM) Giles got that much? Damn... these pitchers have more value than I thought. Giles has 5 years of control though. But yes, a bit much for a relief pitcher in my opinion even though the Astros don't really need any of the players they traded.
  17. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 05:48 PM) Gipson & Trevathan would be tremendous additions. Take A'Shawn Robinson in round 1 and Shilique Calhoun in round 2 and all of a sudden you're giving an already solid defense some *great* players. I want Reggie Ragland or Myles Jack in round 1. Huge need at ILB.
  18. Less than 200 plate appearances but he was good vs LHP last year: .293 .341 .484 for an .OPS of .825. He has a wOBA of .354 and a 128 wRC+. 105 lifetime wRC+ vs LHP.
  19. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 07:25 PM) exactly, i wasn't going to go there. since my ummm hatred may have cloud my opinion. He's doing his job. The man would be my agent if I were in MLB
  20. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 07:17 PM) and is that worth 25 mil per which Davis group turned down??? It's Boras. Gonna be awhile.
  21. If the Sox were willing to move Tim Anderson they could probably do better than Frazier. I know the win now crowd is ready but I couldn't trade Anderson for two years of Todd Frazier when you have other glaring holes on the roster.
  22. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 02:25 PM) Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 32s32 seconds ago Source: #Mets agree to trade Niese to #Pirates for Walker, pending medical reviews. I bet Niese is really god in Pittsburgh. Searage and that defense get the most out of guys. Walker is solid but Pirates will go with Josh Harrison at 2B, Mercer at SS, and Kang at 3B
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 02:17 PM) Phil Rogers ‏@philgrogers 2m2 minutes ago Nashville, TN Source: Reds have asked White Sox for No. 1 prospect Tin Anderson in talks regarding Todd Frazier. Seems an unlikely match. #Reds WhiteSox Yeah I can't see them doing that.
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 01:32 PM) How bout getting semien back for a pitcher? DH spot isn't open.
  25. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 01:17 PM) Not sure if this has been addressed in this thread, but why is Oakland trading Lawrie? They picked up Jed Lowrie to play 3B
