  1. By resources he meant money. That’s not the problem.
  2. The box score is an error. Shilling is having Tommy John this week fwiw.
  3. Why though? They have the $6 million. Do you believe in the player or not? It makes no sense to possibly sour the relationship over peanuts. He's likely going to be worth multiple millions in value very soon.
  4. Sure but they underslotted everyone so it's a pretty shitty draft class due to planning to go over at #11
  5. The Mets should just give him the $6 million anyway. Kumar Rocker is a bargain for that money and it's a much better alternative than taking the #11 pick next year after basically punting the rest of their draft this year to sign Rocker. Just horrendous process.
  6. I don’t think he’s right. I’d be stunned if they roll with Leury and Mendick
  7. Agreed. Engel/Goodwin should platoon in RF when Robert returns. They need to IL Hamilton until rosters expand
  8. Goodwin? Dude has a 160 wRC+ vs RHP. No way
  9. The White Sox bonus pool is $6,618,600. They're at $6,092,000 and that's before McDougal or Smelley. McDougal is getting $850K. That puts them at $6,942,000. They basically can only do $125K for Smelley. They have $7K to play with before penalties start. Bravo to the White Sox and Jerry Reinsdorf for spending the overage amount. This is how it's done.
  10. The White Sox are paying Kath what is essentially the bonus for the 40th overall pick.
  11. He’s signing for $1.8 million. Only a matter of time
  12. 100%. June makes the most sense.
  13. The White Sox aren't eligible for a first round comp pick due to market size. Only the small market clubs get those. If the Sox QO Rodon and he goes elsewhere, they'll get a pick after comp round B. It's usually in the 70's.
  14. Yeah it’s crazy. Shirley basically said Adam Virchis was all over him and got it done
  15. The White Sox bonus pool is $6,618,800. With Montgomery at slot, Kath at $1.8 million, McDougal at $850K plus the guys in rounds 6, 7, 8, 9 and the $25K overage for Butler, they have $846,600 left to sign Burke, Gosswein, Sommer and whatever other overages they have. If Burke is at slot ($618,200), that leaves $228,400. I'll assume that Gosswein is $100K and Sommer is $10K. That leaves them like $100K before the overage to use for day three. I'm guessing that Edwards and Smelley could be more than $125K.
  16. Thanks man. It was fun. That dude played in like a small private school league. Just stupid numbers
  17. Not really. They added some arms. Signing for $20K is a pretty shitty deal. I haven't really dug into the signings though.
  18. That’s his father but yes. Montgomery is signing today I believe
  19. Masterful work by Ben Cherington and the Pirates. Saving $2 million allowed them to sign Bubba Chandler, Lonnie White and Anthony Solometo. They had a tremendous draft.
  20. Badler told me he's a name to keep an eye on
  21. I’m thinking Luke Shilling but he’s had Tommy John since
  22. Burke will be slot and Gosswein is probably $100K at least. I think Smelley and Edwards could be above as well
  23. Both lefty bats. Both project for power. Lots of people think Colson Montgomery will stat at SS. Wes Kath definitely moves to 3B and possibly even 1B in worst case scenario. They can both hit though.
  24. I wrote about the White Sox draft class after listening to Mike Shirley. There were some clear target areas and some trends are forming. I wrote about it: https://www.futuresox.com/2021/07/16/positive-trends-continue-in-2021-mlb-draft-for-white-sox/
