  1. Engel really sucks at offense. Show him how it’s done Yoan!
  2. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 18, 2018 -> 07:04 PM) Moncada is having a f***ing game. Probably read what Soxtalk was saying about him and got fired up.
  3. Wow, two great defensive plays! And one of them by Nicky!
  4. Can Soria not pitch on back to back days? I would have just gone Soria then Jones or vice verse. Seems like Ricky got a little in is the closest thing to a must win game in a rebuilding season.
  5. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 18, 2018 -> 05:53 PM) If he averages this for the rest of the year, he's the greatest athlete of all-time FIFY
  6. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 18, 2018 -> 04:39 PM) CBS lead fantasy baseball guy with some nice thoughts on Yoan today: https://twitter.com/CTowersCBS nothing we haven't covered, but the dude is a solid regular sporting a 35% K rate. The sky is the limit for him. It’s a spot on analysis. The only question with Yoan is not if he’ll be good but how good he’ll be. The floor is crazy high and there are only a handful of players with bigger ceilings than him.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Apr 18, 2018 -> 03:59 PM) Ricky loves the bunt. But what does getting Davidson to 2nd even accomplish? There’s a very good chance he doesn’t even score on a single.
  8. People need to stop betting on the Sox, it’s only bringing bad luck.
  9. QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Apr 18, 2018 -> 01:38 PM) No Walks, 7 Ks in 6 innings. 4 ER though so his ERA stays above 6. Looks like he got hit around hard though with 4 2B & a HR allowed.
  10. When do publications start taking Zavala seriously as an offensive prospect? I know he’s somewhat older for a prospect, but the dude has hit at every level. His numbers so far at AA are ridiculous and he’s only improved them today with a 2/3 performance with a 2B. Even if he can’t catch, he may very well have a future at 1B/DH.
  11. Rutherford with three doubles today. That’s seven in 47 plate appearances (1 per 6.7). He averaged one every 17.6 plate appearances last year.
  12. For me, the order goes: 1) Mize 2) Bohm 3/4) Madrigal / Swaggerty Those last two depend on whether our scouts feel Madrigal can stick at SS. If so, he’s an easy #3 for me.
  13. Since someone already bumped this, Moncada now has a wRC+ of 104, the third highest defensive value amongst qualified 2B, & the third highest baserunning value amongst all qualified hitters. Combined these factors put him at 0.6 WAR on the season or 40th overall for position players. At this rate, Yoan would put up 7 WAR over the course of a full season. And while I’m not actually suggesting he’ll be a 7 WAR player this year, the point remains that Moncada brings a lot to the table in terms of batters eye, power, speed, & defense that he can be an incredibly valuable player despite a high K rate. His floor this year is realistically that of a 3 WAR player and he’ll easily outperform that if he can get K rate more under control.
  14. MiGo’s season line now: 3 GS, 12.1 IP, 15 R, 14 ER, 6 BB, 5 K, 4 HR, 10.22 ERA, 7.95 FIP Yeah I think he’s pretty much cooked.
  15. QUOTE (KrankinSox @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 10:10 PM) AJ would probably be good in that sense. But he's likely to get into managing rather than broadcasting long term. That’s exactly who I was thinking of.
  16. QUOTE (KrankinSox @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 10:04 PM) Not looking forward to the next few decades of him calling Sox games. Just need to find him a different partner that doesn’t play up the humor game. I actually Benetti when he’s talking baseball and not making funnies.
  17. QUOTE (daggins @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 10:02 PM) I was curious so I checked - after that one, we have 14, which is tied for first with a lot of really bad teams that have played more games than us. So yeah, it's bad. lol...I was checking the same thing but totally forget most teams haven’t missed as many games as us.
  18. QUOTE (Tony @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 09:58 PM) That swing is why we all believe. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 09:58 PM) faking the bunts, calling time, dude his balls were on the plate right there. that's something I don't know if I've seen from a young sox kid in a long time. and of course he made it pay. eloy is next baby. The ceiling this kid has is insane, but just got to give him some time to develop.
