  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2017 -> 06:26 PM) One of these days, someone will get benched for an inexcusable base running incident I just don't get what happened. I actually thought he was injured while watching in real time. If he just pulled up because he figured he was out then he should be benched.
  2. Wow, some seriously bad base running by our Cubans.
  3. Why the hell did Moncada slow down there??
  4. Random fact, but Tim Anderson has one walk since July 1st. That is beyond pitiful regardless of what's going on in his head right now.
  5. I've enjoyed these past four wins, but a 10-9 loss would really hit the spot right about now.
  6. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 12, 2017 -> 07:14 AM) There's no way you're a real person. I refuse to believe it. Yup, it's so painfully obvious he's not a real person.
  7. This may be the most pathetic crowd I've ever seen at a Sox game.
  8. Passan actually does his homework, which is refreshing. I tend to agree with him though. I think the Braves have a better group of pitching prospects than us, but I'd argue it's closer than most prospect ranking lists would suggest (easily the top two orgs in baseball from a pitching perspective). But I think we definitely got them on the positional side. Moncada+Jimenez > Acuna+Albies, Robert > Maitan, & Rutherford+Collins+Burger > next three Braves positional prospects.
  9. If he cleared waivers already, I'd have him be the closer the rest of the way and see if he can actually net something decent back. Most of the quality relievers won't make it to the good teams, so it could be slim pickings for them and a rejuvenated Clippard might be of some interest.
  10. Acquiring stars is the hardest part of a rebuild and perhaps the most vital part of it. If you can't sign/draft/develop stars, the length of the rebuild can expotentially increase. Relying solely on the draft is a dangerous game, because it's simply way too unpredictable. What Hahn has accomplished here is incredible. As of today, we have two positional guys that look like sure-fire stars in Moncada & Jimenez plus a third guy in Robert that might just join them. We have almost no long-term financial commitments and should be able to add at least one more positional star in free agency. That is an incredible foundation to build off of with even a system of average pitching talent. But we are absolutely loaded with high-end pitching. Kopech is obviously the key, but if he can develop into a legit ace, the rest of the staff should fall in place nicely with an array of TOR options. And this doesn't even factor in landing a potential star at #1 in next year's draft. Point is, blowing it up early before our core assets expired in value and landing guys like Moncada has taken away a ton of uncertainty and has potentially allowed us to complete a rebuild in record time.
  11. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 10:25 AM) Interestingly enough Stephens and Hansen also scheduled to start tonight. I am mildly surprised neither of them are getting promoted. I don't think Stephens deserves to be promoted yet. The peripherals are good not great (K rate way down) and he only has 11 AA starts to his name. If anyone deserves to be promoted it's Jordan Guerrero, who has been awesome this year and has 40+ AA starts.
  12. You can argue the Sale trade feels a player light, but we arguably got back the highest ceiling positional & pitching prospects in baseball. If even one of these two works out, the trade is an anbsolute win for us because we were not going to be able to put a winner around Sale before we lost him to free agency. If both work out, wow is all I have to say. Ultimately the Sox got what they needed to make a no regrets deal and took it. The move was made 100% on merit with the intention of kicking the rebuild off right and had nothing to do with behavioral issues. The notion that the front office RF aded Sale & Eaton for such reasons and only then decided to rebuild is some the bats*** craziest nonsense I have ever heard.
  13. QUOTE (ron883 @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 08:34 AM) Sale and Eaton started it. The sox FO viewed them as toxic and wanted them out. After trading them, it really started the rebuild. That toxicity affects business BTW. Sale had no respect for authority. The FO wanted him gone. There was no point in holding on to Q or others with such a bad team. Dude, just stop, you're embarrassing yourself with this nonsense.
  14. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 07:27 AM) Defense matters too. He played plus defense last year, the ability is clearly there to be above average. I'm much more concerned about his plate discipline. But if he can be an above average defender and hit for power, he can still be a productive player for us. I think we all have to step back and realize this is a lost year for him. Next year will be critical though.
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 10, 2017 -> 11:01 PM) Definitely not. If Anderson sucks again next year then I'll jump on that bandwagon. Dude absolutely gets another year to prove himself. Leury will get his chance to play everday in the of. This. Anderson has a long way to go offensively, but giving up on him in year one of a rebuild is f***ing stupid.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 10, 2017 -> 10:47 PM) Not a great post. The Democrats could have given us a good candidate to vote for. Look, if they strike Guam it's all over. That's a direct attack on our bases and our people. If Jong Un is dumb enough to attack Guam there's nothing we can do but execute thermonuclear war. And yes the world will never be the same. Did you vote for Hillary? If not, you indirectly voted for Trump and a guaranteed nuclear holocaust. Well done Greg...
  17. Awesome finish!
  18. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 10, 2017 -> 10:44 PM) I've cited Beltre in the past. Have no idea why he stayed in DSL that long. If he had any kind of power as a 3B prospect, he'd be up there. Sox have had him play some 2B too recently. Hopefully the frame fills out a bit more. I was wondering the same thing, he put up pretty good numbers in the DSL in 2016.
  19. Ramon Beltre with a HR. He may be the best prospect in the system no one has ever heard of.
  20. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 10, 2017 -> 09:47 PM) Alex Destino has one sexy OBP. 21 years old. Will probably be in Kanny with Dedelow next year. Gonna be a crowded outfield. Robert, Dedelow, & probably Gonzalez as the three main guys. Still hoping that Mercedes finds a way to get an everyday role as well.
  21. QUOTE (Tony @ Aug 10, 2017 -> 08:42 PM) Said it early last week, but I'm convinced Eloy will be the #1 prospect in baseball at some point in 2018 Once Acuna is called up probably.
  22. Eloy with the bases-loaded clearing double! Kid is a f***ing beast!
  23. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 10, 2017 -> 07:33 PM) Seby went long ball again... I'm really hoping we have something in Zavala. I know he's on the old end, even for high A, but as a catcher that's far less of an issue for me. Unfortunately, I haven't seen much on his tools or defense to know if there is a reason to be optimistic, but damn are his offensive numbers impressive.
  24. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 10, 2017 -> 07:34 PM) I'm too stoned, should have been cuban Lol...well that explains it!
