April 28th Game Thread: White Sox at Detroit Tigers
This pen has been insane. If Quintana can rebound, we're going to have a f***ton of pitching to trade at the deadline.

4/28 Games
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 07:28 PM) No way they play in Columbus. Collins a homer but 23 k's in 61 ab's. At least he walks. Basabe two hits already. Tanner Banks doing well. They're playing right now. Willy already has a HR. Really hope Lopez brings it tonight.

2017 NFL Draft Thread
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 07:39 PM) The only problem I have with the pick is your adding a raw TE with an inexperienced QB. That being said, the Bears may as well go 0-16 next year and then get 2 1sts + 2nds + from whoever wants Darnold. I personally think Pace is being too cute with these picks, but at least this TE has a lot of people excited about his upside. The problem is that hes like either going to be really good or completely overwhelmed. Just no way to tell. If we go 0-16, we should draft Darnold and then trade Mitch for picks.

2017 NFL Draft Thread
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 06:33 PM) They got the Cards 2nd too. So its a pretty big haul for a few spots. Yup, excellent return when you're only dropping nine spots with plenty of talent still available.

Odds the Bears trade down? Has to be high. If not, I assume they take a DB.

Dunning Promoted to WS
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 05:19 PM) You really think 29 other teams would trade for Dunning over Lopez/Giolito based on 4 Sally League starts? Some would argue against Giolito, but Lopez? 100% agree. Dunning has definitely opened some eyes given how good he was, but he should have never been assigned to low A in the first place. I'd still take Lopez & Giolito over Dunning at the moment no questions asked.

2017 NFL Draft Thread
What I don't get is if we were going to invest so heavily in the QB position why didn't we make WR a bigger priority in free agency? The lack of weapons Glennon and/or Trubisky will have to work with is setting them up for failure. Watson must be going here right?

2017 NFL Draft Thread
I would have been good with Trubisky at 3, but giving up all those picks is insane to me. Pace is putting his career on the line by betting on Trubisky being a legit franchise QB. Hope he's right for all our sakes.

4/26 Games (Giolito and Dunning)
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 07:24 PM) His fastball velocity and spin rate is so disappointing. He has an uphill battle IMO You have stats on spin rate this year?

Abreu leaves with injury
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 05:37 PM) Who else is going to be there? Seriously, he's earned at least another month of starts. This year? How about Tilson? Leury should play over May, but saying he deserves a full season opportunity in CF because of a hot couple of weeks is insane to put it mildly. This guy was considered a AAAA player by pretty much everyone just a few weeks ago. He's nothing more than a play it as it goes option.

4/26 Games (Giolito and Dunning)
QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 12:12 PM) I've had enough. Send Dunning to A+ already. This x 1,000,000.

What's our run differential in games Q starts vs. games he doesn't?

White Sox have "set" Luis Robert market
No excuse whatsoever to not land this kid. We should be considered the favorites IMO.

The Challenge XXX: Dirty 30 Thread
QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 24, 2017 -> 06:34 PM) It's a 6 week special event. Not a legit season. And it's immediately after the current season ends. It's basically a bonus season that should hopefully put some of the regulars in their place. Pretty pumped for this.

4/24 games
I think it's time to finally write off Michalczewski as a legit prospect

Looks like me ragging on Adams for not K'ing anyone finally paid off. Having said that, let's see him carry that through to another start.

4/22 Games
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 23, 2017 -> 12:37 AM) Holy s*** this thread is overreaction city. Gonna be a long 4 years. Where exactly are the overreactions? The majority of our top prospects have underperformed so far. I haven't seen anyone say more than that.

4/22 Games
QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 22, 2017 -> 07:51 PM) 2.0 IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 4K for Cooper. Had a K/9 of 18 and BB/9 of 2.25 coming in. I saw article this morning that mentioned his velocity actually increased into the low 90's at some point last year. He's a guy that deserves an extended look in the rotation assuming he can keep this up.

Game thread for Saturday, April 22nd at 610 pm cdt
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 22, 2017 -> 07:54 PM) I have the plan for this year figured out. We started good last season and finished bad. It's the opposite this year I am sure Dude, our winning percentage has peaked. It's all downhill from here.

4/22 Games
This has been a super dissapointing year (so far) for our minor league system. I really hope Lopez is working on specific pitches or something, because his numbers have been fairly ugly.

Indians @ Sox, 7:10 Quintana vs Kluber
Obviously it's a way too early to jump to any conclusions, but this is exactly what I was worried about. There was so much more downside risk than upside risk by holding onto Quintana and we're seeing that now. He could be 0-4 with a 6.00+ ERA after his first four starts this season. He'll need to a have an extended dominant stretch to get his trade value back to where it was this offseason.

White Sox and Yankees Game Thread for 19 April at 5:05 pm MDT
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 19, 2017 -> 08:07 PM) Sanchez. The kid who pitched last night. Their minor league system. Etc. Actually, it's crazy how young Castro is, he came up so long ago, seems like he should be in his early to mid 30's. Obviously there is a lot to like in their system, but it's way to jump to any conclusions on the progress of their rebuild. They need young guys to establish themselves at the major league level and have extended periods of success. Sanchez had an insane start to his major league career, but let's see him sustain even 70% of that production. Judge is hitting HRs on 44% of his flyballs, that's not going to last. Servino has been impressive this year, but it's only been over three starts. At some point the league will adjust to these guys and these players will need to adjust accordingly. That's easier said than done and why we see young players regularly flame out after initial bouts of success. The Yankees have a long way to go before I can say they are well on their way to a successful rebuild. Right now, they are far from becoming the next Cubs or Astros.
