**7/9 Game Thread: White Sox vs The Not So Braves"
Chicago White Sox replied to Brian's topic in 2016 Season in Review
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 09:14 AM) Obviously a couple must win games the next two days. In the 11-5 stretch before last night, they played a few crappy games and bounced back to win 2 of 3. Gotta do it again. Yup, need to win the series and maintain our positive momentum going into the All-Star break. -

Missed last night's game due to a wedding, but am absolutely sick to my stomach over the result. Today's game is a MUST WIN and it all starts with Quintana. He needs to be on point today. This is the Braves for f***s sake, dominate them like we should...no f***ing excuses. -
Yeah, this draft is looking pretty good. I know everyone is high on our first three picks, but I really like what I'm seeing from Call & Fisher. These guys are both having strong offensive seasons in rookie ball and I believe they rank 1st & 2nd in the Pioneer League in terms of drawing walks. Throw in Curbelo and a few other interesting players and there's a lot to like from this draft class.

Carlos Gonzalez expresses interest to be traded
Chicago White Sox replied to GGajewski18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Everyone knows there is a hangover effect from playing at Coors. Combine that with the fact that most hitters perform better at home than on the road to begin with and it's absolutely ridiculous to simply spout off a guy's road OPS and say he's not a good hitter. Not surprising in the least it me GreenSox making this argument. -
Carson Fulmer "in play" for second half

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 07:06 AM) If they're going to limit his innings they might as well give him a taste of the MLB. Agree 100%, especially when he's likely to be a sizable upgrade over Beck & Ynoa. -
Just based on the video & limited facts, it seems like that cop was afraid once he heard "gun" and straight up murdered the guy when he made some sort of non-hostile movement. Maybe more info comes out, but this shooting seems like a legit killing and this officer should be behind bars for a long f***ing time.

Shoot someone in the leg while they're in a car? Greg is really the king of trolls.

Great start for Gonzalez! He's pitched much better than his numbers indicate. -

How much cap space do we have at the moment? -
Zach Burdi headed to Birmingham

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 12:42 PM) I think this should also be mentioned, from Scott merkin Fulmer last 3 starts: 19 IP, 10 H, 2 ER, 9 BB, 22 K. Fulmer has 46 strikeouts in last 35 innings. Still needs to cut down on the walks, but amazing progress nonetheless. -
Avila leaves game, placed on DL. Narvaez called up

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 12:47 PM) It wasn't a spot on the 40. He is out of options, he needed to clear outright waivers to go back to Charlotte. He did not. And I honestly believe they were saving Sanchez in the event of an extended injury to one of their catchers and purposely called up Smith instead due to the short-term nature. Hard to blame them for calling up Sanchez and losing him when the guy they were hoping to fill in temporarily got injured before his first game. The Sox did nothing wrong here and actually were proactive about having catching depth in AAA. Just some bad luck that has put them in a bind now. -
7/6/16 - Yankees @ White Sox - 7:10 - WPWR

Must win game. Need to keep winning series up until the deadline. -
Avi Garcia WAR by year: 2013: -0.5 2014: -0.4 2015: -1.1 2016: -0.4 Absolutely mind-boggling this bum is still on our major league roster.

I f***ing despise Avi Garcia, what an absolutely horrific baseball player.

Chris Sale named to All-Star game
Chicago White Sox replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 07:09 PM) Half of the relievers who got in over him don't deserve it. And Marco Estrada, and his 4.14 FIP?? Give me a break. Yeah, seemed like a lot of relievers, which makes sense if you're trying to win the game I guess. It's still bulls*** that a pitcher with the 5th highest fWAR in baseball doesn't get acknowledged as a "star", which is still the point of the game right? -
Caulfield, don't you have a newborn? How in the world do you have this much free time? Not trying to hate, I just know how much time a two year old sucks out of your life.

And while Quintana missing is ridiculous in it's own right, you knew he would get overlooked due to his W-L record. -

I'm sorry, but Beltran over Eaton is ridiculous. -
Big game. Rodon needs to be on point as the ball will be carrying tonight. Also, SSS but we've done ok against Tanaka and I expect that to continue tonight. I feel more optimistic about this game than I normally would.

Zach Burdi headed to Birmingham
Chicago White Sox replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 05:55 PM) An option year shouldn't be a problem. But you lose a control year or part of one. Plus he's had a long year already. You lose half of a control year, but it gets him a taste of big league experience while helping the major league club. Even if you plan on converting him to a starter, I still think it's worth the cost. -
Zach Burdi headed to Birmingham
Chicago White Sox replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No matter how you slice it, they aren't going to consider turning Burdi into a starter until next season. Therefore, if there is any chance he can help the big league club in the near future, there's no downside to calling him up other than potentially wasting an option year on him. Hopefully after a week or two, we'll see if he's worth that risk and my guess is he will be. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 05:09 PM) Y2HH and I have gotten each other banned at least once. No real beef there though. There are clearly many SLAM beefs that I purposely ignored, but they definitely deserve their acknowledgement. You & Y2HH (amongst others), would take the cake there. I was purposely going with baseball-oriented rivalries.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) This is missing so many it's hard to vote for. I don't even know what balta v ss2k5 is. Throw some names and I'll add them to pick list.
-
Alright Soxtalk, with the Caulfield/Dick Allen battle continually reaching new highs this season, it's officially time to vote on your favorite beef amongst posters in board history. I'm only including five rivalries as options, but feel free to vote "Other" and include the posters you enjoy seeing fued.

When Guerra does this for multiple seasons, then you can rip the front office. Until then, he's no different than Esteban Loazia or Philip Humber.
