  1. Can the mods please ban Greg for this Chelsea Clinton nonsense? It's some of the most pathetic trolling I've ever seen on this site.
  2. What the f*** is going on with DeAndre Hopkins? This is two weeks in a row without a catch in the first half. FML.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 9, 2016 -> 11:12 AM) If that package was available for Sale, the trade would have been made in July. It wouldn't have killed their line up. As much as it makes sense Sale is worth all those pieces, the Sox aren't going to get all those pieces. It is too much for one guy who pitches once every 5 days. To replace that, it would more than offset the deal In which Sale is signed. Got to disagree here. We have no idea what the White Sox asked for, but some rumors suggested they wanted an impact major league talent in return like Betts or JBJ, which could explain why a deal didn't take place. Perhaps they're expectations change headlining into the offseason. We also don't know what the Red Sox were offering at the deadline. A first round loss due to pitching failures could force Dombrowski's hand and result in a better offer. There could also be more teams in the sweepstakes for Sale, also potentially resulting in a better offer from the Red Sox assuming they remain interested. As for the amount of talent, I don't think a Benintendi/Devers led package is all that ridiculous. Look what teams have been paying for top end pitching. A Cole Hamels type package should be the bare minimum in terms of expectations and I think someone will pay that in this market. I'm not sure Jose Abreu's proposed package is really that much crazier than what the Phillies got...I actually think it's a bit light. I think you're underselling Sale's value here.
  4. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Oct 9, 2016 -> 10:10 AM) Could even give them Melky in that deal if it gets it done. Resign Morneau or some other LH 1B/DH type. Id obviously prefer to keep Melky if they'd do that deal without him. Boston is going to want to make a big splash when they get swept today. Think this is a real possibility. I think there is no chance the Red Sox trade both JBJ & Benintendi for Sale. They're simply not going to create two holes in their outfield.
  5. QUOTE (zisk @ Oct 9, 2016 -> 08:28 AM) sonny gray is good, sale is an ace. benitendi, pomerantz, kopec and either devers or moncada for sale. Why in hell would you want Pomeranz? He's only under control for two more seasons and has been a dissapointment in the AL. Give me Rodriguez all day and his five years of control.
  6. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Oct 9, 2016 -> 08:23 AM) I don't think you will see panic in Boston. They are coming off 2 terrible seasons where they finished last in AL East. Down the stretch they owned their main rivals in O's and Jays. They made a boatload of money this year in both attendance and merchandise sale. They have 4 young players in starting lineup and more talent on the way. But making the playoffs for them is not a goal but more an expectation. So I think Dombowski will be busy. Many forget they lost their #3 starter and All-Star mid-year this year in Wright. Benintendi made a splash down the stretch. Moncada, however. was a flop. Both were rushed to the majors skipping AAA. Living in Red Sox country, my take. I hope to hell Sale does not end up in Boston. I think Dombrowski will make moves and trade one of Moncada or Benintendi. My guess, he will package the one w another prospect( Devers or Kopech), a SP ( Buchholtz or Pomerantz) and Shaw or Holt and add a 2-3 starter and a lefty reliever. keep an eye on Sonny Gray. He will not trade Betts or Bradley. Benintendi and Betts are a step down from Bradley defensively, the reason why both had to learn new positions. Hopefully they get swept tonight although the game may get rained out. The Red Sox don't have a legit ace though and that's always going to be a problem in the playoffs. Given his history, I can't see Dombrowksi ignoring this obvious need if they lose in the first round. He'll want to get that ace and Sale will be the best starting pitcher available by far. Makes too much sense for both sides to be honest.
  7. Don't see us getting all three of Moncada, Benintendi, & Devers. I think two of them plus Rodriguez (former top 100 prospect who fills Sale's spot immedietely), Kopech, Jason Groome (2016 first round pick), and one or two lesser pieces (at least one being a top 10 type) would be a tremendous haul. For me, the key is getting Benintendi and his ability to play CF. He's got superstar written all over him and would allow us to keep Eaton in RF. Give me Benintendi and I can live with Devers over Moncada as long as we're also getting the three pitchers I mentioned. And honestly, I don't see why the Red Sox would pass on such a deal. Devers isn't ready yet and Moncada may end up taking his spot at 3B anyways. They can easily sign an OF in free agency to replace Benintendi. Rodrguez is completely expendable with Sale in fold. Kopech & Groome are nice looking prospects, but are far enougn away they shouldn't hold up a deal. My only concern is Hahn pushes for Betts (which would be ridiculous) or JBJ (possible if willing to take lesser secondary pieces) and ultimately kills a deal.
  8. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Oct 8, 2016 -> 11:13 PM) Only reason I haven't bought it yet is because every review I had seen from fans or small publications have been disappointed, saying it gets really repetitive, and that the AI is atrocious. Waiting for IGN or some major source to review it and give more detailed reply. Anything around a 7/10 or better and I'll get it. My guess is IGN will give it about an 8. Most open world GTA-type games get repetitive in terms of mission structure, but very few have the story and polish that Mafia 3 has. It definitely isn't on the level of GTA V, a near perfect game IMO, but I think the narrative is far more interesting (at least so far) and will be its driving force through some of the more repetitive moments.
  9. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 8, 2016 -> 08:09 PM) Voice of reason... Right He has good points but he just lays it on way too thick. It's his sheer arrogance that he feels the need to be condescending as f*** to people who don't agree that's bugging me. Yup. Any valid points he may have are completely offset by his "I'm better than you" attitude. I'm friends with numerous Cubs fans and am married to a diehard and I've never accounted someone as annoying or condescending as Deadpool when it comes to discussing the Cubs & Sox. I think the real question is why does he waste so much time telling a board full of Sox fans that they're stupid for not liking or cheering for the Cubs.
  10. About five hours into Mafia 3 and I'm really enjoying it so far. The story and characters are amazing, amongst the best I've ever seen in a video game. The setting/atmosphere is incredible. You really feel like you're in 1960's New Orleans. The gameplay is very solid for an open-world GTA type game. Nothing revolutionary here, but no significant flaws either. There's a chance the mission structure will start to get repetitive at some point, but right now I'm enjoying it a ton. If you're a fan of story driven games, then I highly recommend it.
  11. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Oct 7, 2016 -> 10:45 PM) I swear I can't wait to leverage these posts when y'all cheer for Patrick Kane I'm neither a hockey fan nor a Patrick Kane fan.
  12. Posey! Put some pressure on this woman beating f***!
  13. I f***ing hate Cubs fans.
  14. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 7, 2016 -> 10:29 PM) I f***ing hate the cubs
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 5, 2016 -> 11:16 AM) If you have any friends or family who are gay or not white, how could you possibly vote for Trump? Their lives will be negatively impacted by a Trump presidency and I'm being kind. It could get quite ugly. I'll go a step further and say if you have young children, how could you not vote for Hilary? Trump as the POTUS is the most dangerous proposition the US, hell the world has faced in years. Hilary may be a unlikable candidate, but she's not going to do something stupid that has grave consequences across the globe. The thought of my son having to deal with the aftermath of a Trump presidency is beyond terrifying. Honestly, I think any US citizen throwing away their vote on an independent candidate in this election is being selfish. Either you're for or against everything Trump stands for, and if you're against like all rational people should be, then you have no choice but voting for Hilary. Maybe that's a hit to your pride, but it's better than living in a world where Donald Trump is the POTUS.
  16. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 5, 2016 -> 11:56 AM) What if they deal one for huge haul and no one else offers the same for the other? Keep one if you don't get 2 huge offers. Exactly. The 2017/18 free agent sucks as well, so there's plenty of opportunity to deal one of them then.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 07:54 AM) This is the Robin Ventura appreciation thread, not the still b****ing about Robin Ventura thread. Lol...GTFO. You literally pollute every thread with your constant need to play devil's advocate or simply pick a fight with Caulfield over pretty much anything he says. Meanwhile, I'm defending a big chunk of this board who believes Robin was a class act (see my post on page 1) but are objective enough to admit he's a bad manager (see all your posts). I'm not going to sit back while someone uses your token move, the gross generalization of the entire board, to troll us posters who had been nothing but respectful in this thread.
  18. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 09:22 PM) Which is something I've never claimed. But even if I had, it would be much closer to truth than the way he was treated on here. The vast majority of posters here primarily blame the front office and/or ownership for this mess. There are a handful of posters who think Robin is the primary reason for our recent failures, but they are few and far between. The truth is Robin is just one of many problems with this organization, and while a smaller one in the grand scheme of things, he's also an easily correctable one. These problems aren't mutually exclusive, so replacing Robin makes the team by even a single game the move makes sense. That's what most posters here believe IMO.
  19. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 11:10 AM) Goodbye Robin, thanks for being the irrational scapegoat that most of the posters here needed. We no longer have to pretend it's your fault that the team sucked. Just as irrational as believing he had no impact on our team's results.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 07:46 AM) You don't trade Chris Sale for the likes of Shaw and Holt as your second piece. That would require Moncada being a superstar and probably the net difference even then is a couple of wins if you're lucky. Even guys like Kimbrel and Giles were getting better packages for the second player in those deals. Granted, Moncada is one of the best prospects in the game but so was Buxton...who's ending this year on a high note but still put up an average in the 220's. Alot depends on how guys like Pomeranz, Buchholz and Rodriguez fare in the playoffs . That offense can cover up a lot of deficiencies, with 3 30-100 guys for the first time in club history, a former MVP in Pedroia, Bradley Jr. & Bogaerts, not to mention Moncada in the pipeline. Yeah, let's see how the Red Sox perform in the playoffs before writing off their desire to add an ace.
  21. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 07:35 AM) Thanks for your dedication Robin! Wasn't personal, you just weren't right for the job. Very classy until the end. He just wasn't a good manager and that failure falls on the front office. He should never been hired in the first place.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 12:29 AM) And as far as my support of Jesse, well, I don't mean to disparage the military. He was in the military as a matter of fact. But I feel like Hillary is a very bad candidate and Trump is a lol, cmon you gotta be kidding candidate. Gary Johnson doesn't make me feel great about his leading the USA so that leaves Jesse. WHy not vote for him? It's my right. Why can't an athlete kneel during the national anthem then? Is that not their right?
  23. Why the f*** are we debating Cubs fans vs. Sox fans in a Robin Ventura thread?
  24. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Oct 2, 2016 -> 02:36 PM) Well that's a douse of cold water. If Ventura is it, nothing is changing. The scary part is they may have wanted Ventura to return too depending on which reports you believe. If true, that shows me there is still no accountability in this organzation.
  25. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 2, 2016 -> 02:28 PM) I really don't understand the view that Renteria is an in-house or organizational hire, he's been here for just a few months. He's not at all like the usual Sox manager hire. Exactly, and it was pretty obvious (at least IMO) that when they brought Renteria on as bench coach, the front office knew he was a strong possibility to be the next manager of the White Sox. He's an outside hire as far as I'm concerned.
