  1. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 13, 2015 -> 07:07 PM) I do think Longoria would be available for a major package since I think the stadium decision is still a ways off. Tampa Bay has lost Price, Maddon and Zobrist all of whom were not only big names on the field but also in the community. So I don't think Longoria is an untouchable. But I think Rodon would have to be the starting chip. Rodon may have to be the starting chip at this point in time, but come July 31st he very well could be the more valuable asset when you consider the financials.
  2. Honestly, I think adding a legit catcher will be Hahn's #1 priority in the coming months. Flowers is not a starting catcher IMO and while Soto has looked good so far, odds are he can't stay healthy (and productive) with a regular's workload. None of the AAA or AA options are more than backup material, so this is a position that desperately could use a long-term solution. I still think Jason Castro is the most likely target and I'd be a fan of his acquisition despite his unpopularity on this site.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 13, 2015 -> 01:59 PM) Noesi was able to limit the damage, but I think the shadows helped him out. It was his first start of the year, the team was 0-3 coming in, and it was the home opener, which is pretty much for a guy who has been waived twice to take on. Hopefully, nerves had something to do with his control issues, and he puts that behind him, because he won't be able to get away with giving up 2 runs with the walks, balks, wild pitches and HBP very often. They have Rodon in the wings. He is going to come up. They have seemingly set him up to make as few starts in AAA as possible while staying in their rotation. Another successful start or 2, it's hard to imagine one of Danks or Noesi, assuming no injury, will be in the rotation more than a couple of more starts. Agree 100%. I think by the end of this month, Rodon is in the rotation and one of Danks/Noesi is out. My guess is Noesi draws the short straw, especially if he continues to pitch like he did on opening day.
  4. f*** yeah Beckham! Cue Dick Allen "Beckham sucks" comment!
  5. Honestly, did Jose not know the score there? You always take the out with a two run lead. Absolutely mind-boggling decision.
  6. f***ing one of the worst defensive plays I have ever seen.
  7. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 12, 2015 -> 02:32 PM) Unless Sale can get a quick inning it looks like he will get through 6 and maybe start the 7th with the pitch count they want to keep him at What's his pitch limit today?
  8. The balls haven't been falling, but I think Micah has looked pretty good at the plate today.
  9. http://www.southsidesox.com/2015/4/12/8392...charlotte-start Great article on Rodon, seems like he's pretty much ready for the pros. I still think a late April/early May is the most likely scenario.
  10. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Apr 11, 2015 -> 04:15 PM) Sale needs to come back strong with a big outing tomorrow. Take this series, forget about this first week of the season, and get things going. Win tomorrow, get to 2-4, and suddenly the sting of the slow start isn't so bad.
  11. We better see some life from the offense today because Pelfrey sucks. As bad as the pitching has been, the lineup should be embarrassed by their performance so far. One run or less in three of four games is a f***ing joke.
  12. Davidson has struck out 5 times in his first 8 plate appearances. Not good!
  13. As s***ty as today was, it shouldn't have been that much of a surprise as Noesi sucks. Don't see Shark having another bad start, especially against the Twins, so I say they win tomorrow.
  14. What a absolutely terrible game to be at. Had awesome seats and literally saw no action the entire game. I'm not one to overreact to a bad couple games, but this team desperately needs to get its act together soon. They're digging themselves a hole that's going to be tough to get out of.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 07:12 AM) You just jinxed it, I'm afraid. By mentioning Fiorella's Jack Stack BBQ. My ex used to waitress there, the Freighthouse one by Union Station. That's pretty awesome Caulfield. I take it you ate there frequently.
  16. This game is an automatic win. Volquez is a real b**** and we roughed him up back in his major league debut in 2005. I say we repeat history and we score 5 runs in 4 2/3 innings. Meanwhile, Danks has NEVER lost to the Royals in career, going 7-0 with a 2.43 ERA. Not sure the reason (probably some pre-game Jack Stack's), but he's better when pitching at Kauffman stadium. I'll say he goes 6 strong innings giving just one run. Offensively, Abreu hits another bomb, Alexei gets his first two hits, and Micah Johnson steals a couple of bases.
  17. What really sucks is this will be our only taste of baseball until Wednesday. Why they have an off-day after the opener, God only knows.
  18. Just need a couple grand slams and we're back in this.
  19. Micah Johnson leads the AL in stolen bases at the All-Star break.
  20. How has Danks' stuff looked compared to last year?
  21. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 4, 2015 -> 09:45 AM) I fail to understand the rap Caulfield gets for namedropping. One person overstates it then the sheep follow. We are here because of our favorite team which consists of a 40 man roster , numerous players in many levels of minor leagues , plus all coaches and executives on those levels not to mention the possibilities of trades and free agency with 29 others teams who are similarly stocked with players coaches and execs. Most posts are talking about those 1000's of individuals in some way, shape or form. Besides name dropping is an attempt to impress others with a bit of snobbery involved to make yourself appear more important than the next person. Aren't we all mostly talking about the same people usually ? Name dropping isn't just using a lot of different names of players and people we are all here to talk about since we are FANS anyway. It doesn't appear to me that Caulfield does this to impress anyone or feel superior about himself. Lol, did you really just call me a sheep? I've read thousands of Caulfield's posts, I think I'm entitled to my own opinion. I enjoy Caulfield's contributions to this website and he seems like a good dude, but that doesn't mean I can't critique his strange need to drop any many names as possible in many of his posts. I usually keep my feelings to myself, but sometimes the drops are so unnecessary I feel obliged to comment. Quite frankly, if you fail to understand the rep Caulfield gets for name dropping, then you simply aren't paying attention.
